Summary: Yeah it`s an "anti-novel".............
Review: .........But the reason we read books like this is to be entertained. Satan`s fast food restaurant is filled with VCR`s that can`t take someone`s order, Leaf has "God`s Eyes" that allow him to float to somewhere else, Wanna be Pirates, fascination and being turned on by Jesus. This book is really wild , but at some point I`m waiting for the pay-off. The part of the book where it all comes together. For me, even reading about the "Blue Women", that moment never came. "The dolphin shocked me when he (?) picked up the accordian that was lying in the pool and began to play Wagner when Alisa said, "The toast comes before the butter God dammit!!""
If those passages were in a "Carlton Mellick III" ANTI-NOVEL I`d be popular too. While a number of people gushed over this book, maybe I just don`t get it. A little more of The Silence might have done it for me...........who knows.

Summary: Pray...zzzz!
Review: A painting stops at it's frame... because Art does have boundaries. Carlton has turned these boundaries inside out. This book and others of his are like films with visuals that have no budget; Only his changovers are like switches from relatable reality to dream stated requiems that leak into the brain for a quick, but everlasting tingling sensation. His words are so honorable that a simple review like this turns anybodies words into unintending poetry. But... in all it's glory, it still remains only a mere work of art, instead of it's godly position it's rightfully worthy of... time will tell. my prayz! and yours soon.

Summary: Brilliant Madness
Review: Brilliant writing that oozes into your skull and melts your brain like a box of a zillion crayons. All the colors distort into beautiful and perverse entities that haunt, excite, and disgust simultaneously. This is imaginative, sarcastic, beautiful, perverse writing at its best. Sure, you can find some similarities to Vonnegut, Burroughs, and others, but Carlton Mellick III speaks in a voice that is uniquely his own. The grammatical errors that occasionally creep into consciousness and temporarily disrupt the hallucinatory flow keep me from giving this book five stars, but don't let that stop you from letting your brain take in one of the most original writers to come along in quite awhile.

Summary: Utterly fascinating, inventive and oftentimes hilarious read
Review: Heaven is full and God has closed the gates. No more souls are accepted, so He discontinues death and creates a walm, a door that allows "toys" from other worlds to come in, for His entertainment.

Imagine a world gone boring. Nobody cares about anything, so they sit, stare at the wall and shrug. Imagine being one of the few, who still has an inclination to care, searching for their place in a bizarre and twisted life.

Such is Rippington, New Canada created by Carlton Mellick III. The cast of "punks" include Leaf an ex-drug addict who sees in third person through his God's eyes; Nan an ex-skinhead; Gin a conscious dead person whose body parts are alive courtesy of Satan's touch; and Vodka and Christian who appear to be the most normal out of the bunch. Then you have Satan ... THE Satan ... who opens a chain of restaurants called Satan Burger. You can eat there free, but it comes with a price.

SATAN BURGER isn't for those who only like pure and pretty things. It's a weird and perverted tale, but if you're bored with your usual normal range of taste, start with this novel.

Pick this book up with an open mind or you'll never make it past the cover art. Which would be a shame, because SATAN BURGER is an utterly fascinating, inventive and oftentimes hilarious read.

Summary: very cool read
Review: I bought this book and The Devil's Apocrypha by John A. De Vito at the same time. Both had rave reviews and both seemed like interesting takes on a religious theme. I was extremely amazed by both of these books. I wasn't expecting much because I have never heard of either of these authors but I was pleasantly surprised. If you are interested in religion yet don't take it all that seriously then this is a book to check out. Obviously a hardcore christian might get offended but who liked those people anyway?

I would have given it 5 stars but I read it right after The Devil's Apocrypha and like that book just a tad better than this one. But they are two completely different books and should not be compared. This is a very smart read. Highly recommended!

Summary: Get This Book Right Now!!!!!!
Review: I can't explain in words how pleasing this book is to anyone who reads it. Satan Burger is Carlton Mellick at his peak. Out of a world of has-beens and copycats, CM3 has created a whole new style of writing that brings the reader into the story. If you've ever had a crazy/fun time with a bunch of friends, this is your story... with a hoard of zombies and nymphomaniacs thrown into the mix. Enjoy Satan Burger!

Summary: Sick and Weird
Review: I don't know, this was some outre weird sick stuff, but it kept me laughing, and the writer has a wild imagination. I'll have to read what else he's publishing before making a final assessment.

Summary: Vonnegut or not?
Review: I got into Carlton Mellick III because a friend told me he was like the new Kurt Vonnegut. I do love Vonnegut but seriously don't believe anyone can ever be like Vonnegut. Every time somebody gives me a book by an author who is supposed to be like Vonnegut they NEVER turn out to be anything like him. Well, the same goes for Carlton Mellick III, but unlike other Vonnegut imitations Mellick frickin rocks! Hardcore! He is a young author and partially insane but still one of the best writers I have read since Vonnegut. His strengths are in his imagination and writing style. Seriously, this guy has an imagination that will blow you away. The world of Satan Burger is detailed with so many interesting little oddities that you will day dream about them for weeks. And the sense of humor is upbeat like South Park or The Kids in the Hall, which is rarely seen in literature.
Make this the next book you read. Support a great new author and buy it now . . . unless you're too busy staring at your walls and shrugging.

Summary: Interesting, but a bit juvenile
Review: I have to say that I enjoyed reading this odd mix of childish surrealism and anarchic philosophy. It was compelling and exposed a good writer...though perhaps in the rough. I felt like some of the author's "teenage angst" type of outlook was ladled on with a heavy hand. I got the impression that he thought he was the first person to come up with the notion of boredom as a horror, the first person to whom many of his ideas occurred. I can't say I didn't like this work at all, but I do believe a few years of age and maturity will help this author pour out better work.

Summary: Refreshing and fun
Review: I highly recommend 'Satan Burger.' It was just the refreshment I was looking for.

This book effortlessly incorporates the insights of its author into a journey through an alternative to the real world. The style of the writing is strong but very relaxed, and has an improvisational quality that's lacking in too many books.

Without getting into plot details, I'll mention that there's a very amusing reference to death metal fans, which explains this somewhat disturbing musical phenomenon (which I listen to). You'll probably never look at back seats or the moon the same way again, either.

If you're in the mood for something different, I heartily recommend 'Satan Burger.' You may get sick of looking at the cover, but that's the price you pay for reading what's inside (well, other than what you pay for the book!).
