Rating: Summary: I've been holding my breath, waiting for Richard. Review: Finally!...a female that women with a bit of an attitude can look up to be she all human or half.I read Blue Moon first and had to go buy all of the books in the series and start from the beginning and reread Blue Moon again. I agree that there should be more of Edward; talking about a 'girl's best friend'.
Rating: Summary: The Best!! Review: I have yet to find a character that could hold my attention for more than three books. LKH and Anita Blake did it with nary a blink of the eye. All I can say is just knowing the next installment in the series is coming has kept me on pins and needles.
Rating: Summary: This was not nearly as good as the others! Review: I was so eager to read this book, and I wanted really badly to like it. However, I'm tired of Anita not being human anymore. Her biggest draw was that she was a human who could hold her own with the "monsters" because she was clever and capable. Now, all she has to be is super. Sigh. And I missed Edward, and I'm tired of everyone falling in love with Anita. I liked this better as a fantasy/adventure series than I do as soft core porn. Keep Asher, expand Edward (or better yet, give him his own series!!), and let Anita be human again. Does she really have to be God to be an interesting character?
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the rest. Review: I have read Every single Anita Blake book at least four timesto date. I love the series. i love that characters. I usually enjoythe plot (well except for lunatic cafe). But this one just wasn't as good as the others. For one Anita came off as sort of Slutty, if anything was male in the book, she got all hot and bothered. Laurell K. Hamilton rushed the ending, as was evident with the demon. I have always hated richard. And after what has been happening she came to his defense too quickly. What was with that semi-pornographical description of the sex? Anita was always cool partially because she had such good self control. also some of the other reviews were right. The books just aren't as good without Edward.
Rating: Summary: It Kicked Review: This IS THE BEST BOOOOOK EVERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ireally liked it. i disagree Jean-claude could kicks richard's butt any day. The middle is the best. The plane ride is funny too. If you liked this book you should read the others( bURNT oFFERINGS,AND SUCH))))))))))))))))) I LEFT ME WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE............TO THOOSE OF YOU WHO AGREE WITH ME CHECK OUT THE KILLING DANCE(PAGE 144 OR 145 WHOAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Rating: Summary: If You Want Formula Writing - This Series Is Not For You Review: I partically love this series because its not as formulated as most mainstream books. The protagonist is a woman who isn't afraid to let the boys know that she doesn't need thier help. She doesn't need to be rescued - and if that hurts their masculine egos...oh well. Anita has changed since Guilty Pleasures, but I know personally that if she hadn't, I wouldn't be as interested in her as I am. She would have become boring during the span of eight books. As for her becoming a monster...I've never seen Anita as a "Heroine." Rather, she's an interesting character that allows me to view a world that has very little - and yet so much - in common with mine. That's why I think LKH made it first person. From the beginning we were aware that Anita was entirely willing to kill, it only required the right motivation, so why are people so shocked that she's finding it easier to do so? I find that if you over analyze and nit-pick at every detail of something, you start to find flaws that may or may not be there. The Books Are Fun, Enjoy Them!
Rating: Summary: "BLUE MOON" KICKS PRETERNATURAL ***!! (WELL, ALMOST) Review: I love this book, as I love all the books in the Anita Blake series; however, I must admit that I was disappointed with some aspects of it. Let me just say first that I thought that it was very brave of LKH to take the characters in a different direction after having them already firmly esconced in the readers mind as were. But let's face it, Anita (no matter how much I love and admire her) is not a goddess. How many more "undiscovered" powers can she have? That's getting way to out of hand as far as her dominance over everybody else goes. How can she possibly be more powerful than Jean-Claude, a MV, or Richard, an Alpha? It's just wrong. I also don't like the twist in Jean-Claude's personality, he's a vampire 'nuff said. Sure he can fall in love, but he's tending to lean towards "mother hen-ish" where Anita's concerned, c'mon she's the freaking Executioner, JC knows she can take of herself!! I applaud the fact that Richard now has some testicular fortitude where Anita's concerned, but now he has lost his respect for women in general. Love Asher, LOVE HIM! Possibly more than JC; however, everybody can't be in love with Anita, it's just wrong. Also, missed Edward tremendously in "Blue Moon", but am ecstatic to hear that "Obsidian Butterfly" is HIS book, so they say. Sadly enough, also missing Zerbrowski, though the gods only know why! Loved the Norse mythology viewpoint taken with the werewolves, EXCELLENT!! I excel at myth and was completely freaked when I read about the lukoi titles, my commendations LKH. One last criticism about "Blue Moon", the plot sucked. What was with the whole "spear" thing that never even panned out? That was just too unbelievable, much better job in "Bloody Bones" with the fight over the land for the land's sake; and the demon at the end bombed, how could Anita have "set it's soul free"? Tone down the superpowers, she is human!! Maybe not as human as Larry, but she is not invincible!! I'm sorry, I love her but now she's too unbelievable, how can she be the State Executioner, an animator, part of the RPIT, lupa, Nimir-ra, and yet maintain her position as top-dog (no pun intended) in the Triumverate?? LKH, please "humanize" Anita again. I realize that she has a "disassociation problem" when she kills, but she's not a bloody superhero! I suggest that you bring in a new character that's a threat to Anita, as in a woman who's her equal, and better, someone just as rough and tough as she is who will give her a run for her money and jeopardize her relationship with oh, let's say, the Master of the City. Thanx for the good reads, it's been a real slice.
Rating: Summary: What are you guys talking about this book was great! Review: All of The Anita Blake books were great including this one! If you people don't like this book go read something eles that has what you like! Why in the world would you be waiting for her next book(Obsidain Butterfly) if you didn't even like her last two books or this one, I don't think she will suddenly change and turn back to her old ways. Well anyways if you want to know what her next book is about I can tell you it about Anita's favor to Edward. He calls her and he is afraid because of his split personality Ted Foster who is getting married with some girl who Anita expects is bad. So she goes to I think New Mexico to help Edward where their is a Master vampire who thinks she is a goddess. I'm sure that she brings no one, so its sorta like a vacation from everyone except Edward. Thats all I know so do you still want to read it? I also know a little about the 10th book but I don't think I have the time or the space to write about it.
Rating: Summary: Not up to the standard Review: I have read every single book in the Anita Blake series and I whipped through them in a day at least. This book was completely different. First of all, it took me about three months to finish it. Second of all, the only way I could finish it was because I had nothing to do (stuck in a school for all-region band contest) for an entire day. This is one of those books that you can only read on an airplane, when you have nothing to do, no one significant to talk to, or another book to read. Also, the book made no sense. There was no plot. First is was all about this stupid rape charge, then it was all about these meetings in the woods, then it was about the infamous spear, and then something weird happened and somehow Richard's mom was kidnapped and Anita went batty. I can't even remember the end. All I know was that it had blood, a naked Anita, and I think one of the wereleopards was involved somehow. This is definitely the low point in the series. If these books can get any lower I'll be surprised. Perhaps the author should look back at what she's written and build on that rather than boring us to death with how Anita is so superior and better than her monster counterparts. And lets hope we never hear another plot, or lack of one, similar to this book again.
Rating: Summary: Totally Hooked Review: When I started with the first book I could not put it down. She makes the characters so 3D it's like being there. Shoot I was there I saw and felt everything Anita did. I love reading books where I feel I am the characters in the book. Ms. Hamilton took my imagination to a new level. I have read alot of Scifi, Gothic and Gore books, but none has give me romance like the Anita Blake series. Her books are like a good movie, you hate it when it ends and inpatiently await the sequel. I would love for her to pick up where Blue Moon ended, With Ms. Blake getting to know her powers and the triangle love affair between her and the most SEXIEST Men/Monster in her life. I could go on and on about this but I won't. However, I would like to state that I agree with one of the customer review that I read about bashing her last two books. When can come up with one you can write better. I would be happy to read it. But, I think that customer put it best.
