Rating: Summary: A 200 Mile Per Hour Ride Review: This latest offering by Laurell Hamilton was like riding a literary warp engine. I have read all 8 novels and this is the best by far. The story pulls you along with it, faster and faster until you cannot put the book down. I read it in just under two hours. I will read it again!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, but with some reservations. Review: Blue Moon is as exciting and satisfying as all the others. Ms. Hamilton is such a talented writer that she pulls you into her world and before you know it, several hours have passed, your are finished reading the book, and hoping the next one will be out soon. The only thing I didn't like about the book was Anita's growing relationship with Richard. I used to like Richard as much as Jean Claude, but beginning in the Killing Dance (and continuing in Burnt Offerings) when Richard became physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive towards Anita, I lost all interest in him. In Blue Moon, he's still being emotionally abusive towards Anita, but in a more subtle way. Richard really isn't a very nice guy and he has little respect for Anita. Richard has also put celibacy behind him in a big way in Blue Moon. In fact, he shows a singular lack of discrimination in his choice of sexual partners(Are you female? Are you breathing?). I really don't see that Richard's got much going for him besides a great body, and lucky for us, there are a lot of handsome guys running around in Ms. Hamilton's universe, so why bother with Richard? Besides the Richard thing, this is a great book. We get to know Asher, Damien, and Jason better. I love Asher almost as much as Jean Claude(maybe more), and Damien and Jason are turning out to be pretty interesting guys too. And, finally, Anita has stopped trying to ignore her powers and is beginning to learn about them (Hallelujah!) All in all, this is a great book, the story is fascinating and I enjoyed learning more about some of the people we've come to know and love.
Rating: Summary: Sinking fast Review: I gave the book three stars because that is how I would rate it compared to fantasy in general. Compared to the rest of the Anita Blake series though, it's an alltime low. The plot is almost inexistent. Not that I have anything against erotica, but I still would like it to have some plot. Anita Blake was hard enough to believe from the beginning (Given a consistent timeline she ought to have begun killing vampires at...well, sixteen? Buffy the Vampire Slayer comes to mind) but the books were wellwritten enough to make one forget that. Without plot, you notice it at once. And if Hamilton keeps up this pace there simply won't be anything outrageous enough to keep the readers' interest by book ten. Godhood is just a minor step up. The end saved a lot of the book, though. The idea of true faith (of any kind) being the sole help against demons was a fascinating plot device. Well, it's still good fantasy (or erotica :) and I look forward to Obsidian Butterfly.
Rating: Summary: I don't know about this one Review: I love this series, but this book is rather annoying. Anita was such a wonderful character back in the first few books, and I know character development is important, but she's becoming rather sex obsessed and it's making me wonder where her high standards and moral values went. It's not like I care if she's sex obsessed and will never be able to choose between Richard and Jean-Claude, you have to know by now that it's impossible for her to choose one. I'm sick of this, "Who am I going to sleep with today?" Frankly, I don't know why those two put up with her. She's always reminding someone of how many kills she has, how good she is at it, how she's the most powerful necrowhatever in the nation or where else, how she's the queen of this, the Lupa of that, how she's dominate over that person over there, and that she has two really great guys begging her to be with them. She takes a lot of that for granted and I'm getting sick of the sleeping around and the overemphasis on sex as a whole. They should all really get a life and stop worshipping her like a god. Because she'll probably be deemed one in the next book. And I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting tired of the fact that she has no faults. She always wins a fight, pointless little arguments. Even if she doesn't win the battle you know she'll ultimately win the war. Because she's the "heroine" or something. This one wasn't a page turner, maybe I'm just not really into the lycanthropes and like the vampire stories better. I think that Jean-Claude should play more of a part in these books since he's much deeper than Richard will ever be and brings more to the story. Richard is a whiner and generally annoying. This is a good book considering it is part of a good series but it is a pitiful book standing on it's own. If it wasn't part of this series I would give it one star. Lucky for it.
Rating: Summary: tri-umphant & tri-rific! Review: Laurell's books just keep getting more enthralling with each installment. I literallly could not put this book down. It is a fast paced user friendly walk through another world. It had all the characters I love especially Damian, Jason, Nathaniel. There was not enough page time for Jean Claude although his presence was well and truly felt.Fantastic to see Richard developing into a more believable character and I really enjoyed the scenes between Anita and him hot, hot , hot !! It will be fascinating to see whether JC or Richard gets the upper hand with Anita in the next book. Which cannot come soon enough for me!!!!! Long live the triumvirate!!
Rating: Summary: This is so far the best book in her series! Review: Okay, first off you should know I'm a Anita Blakeoholic! I love Hamilton's Anita series. In Blue Moon, Anita is called down to Tennisee to help Richard-- he's been put into jail on the charges of rape of course he's not guilty, but someone is clearly tring to fraim him!In Blue Moon Anita further explores her powers within the pack and the pard. Some surprising and very funny things happen-- but I'll leave that to you to find out! :)
Rating: Summary: The series just keeps getting better! Review: In Blue Moon we are finally getting to see Anita step out from behind Jean Claude and Richard. I like the way that she is coming into her own powers. Laurell Hamilton's writing style is exciting, graphic, action packed filled with humor and sarcasm. Blue Moon introduces new characters as well as giving intresting insights into Asher, Jason and Damien. I really like Blue Moon and could not put the book down. I can't wait for the next one.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must read for any vampire fan Review: Laurell K. Hamilton has once again, hit her topic on the nose. In Blue Moon she presents both an excellent example of a plot twisting mystery and a chance for her characters to grow. One hopes that she will continue with this series and bring all of the loose ends to fuition -- and very soon!
Rating: Summary: Filling yet unsatisfied. Review: Okay, you got one great cast of vamps, weres, crooked cops, and a couple of trolls and humans thrown in, but most importantly a strong "ball busting" heroine. All the elements you loved from the last books are here in this way to short lastest novel. You got action, conflict, romance, and the dark humor you've grown to love with the Anita Blake series. Yet, by the end you still have a yearning for more. The ending might not surprise you but saves the entire series from crashing into the horrible cliche that fans have been dreading. Its great that Anita has awesome inhuman powers that helps her save the day and everyone bowing or lusting after her by the end, but its the self searching and her vulnerability that really confirms that no matter what, she is still human.
Rating: Summary: Write faster! Review: This is a great installment of the Anita Blake series! I'm a little disappointed in Anita's choice of a lover, but I guess the threesome was inevitable. Hopefully Jean Claude will be more involved in the next book! The subplots involving Asher, Damian, and the pard are great also.
