Rating: Summary: Steamy Review: Anita Blake, vampire hunter, answers her telephone to find out that Richard, her former fiance, is in a Tennessee jail for rape. She knows Richard has been framed, so she packs her bags, boards Jean-Claude's private jet along with an array of werewolves, wereleopards and vampires and heads for the hills to save Richard. There the group encounters several bad guys, both living, dead and otherwise, and must fight mentally and physically to get out with their lives. If you're new to this series and start with this book, prepare to be confused. You need to start at the beginning to get the full feel of numerous characters. Jean-Claude is mostly absent during this novel (I, for one, was disappointed), but I was very happy to see some other characters developed more fully. Asher plays a bigger role in this novel, and it seems that there are plans for him in the future of this series. Anita grapples not only with how to save Richard from the local bad guys, but with her intense feelings for him. She spends much of the novel trying to figure out the meaning of the triumverate as well as her position with all the shape shifters. With each installment of the series, the storyline gets darker and more erotic. This Anita is definitely a more mature version of the Anita we saw in GUILTY PLEASURES, and this novel brings out an additional twist to Jean-Claude's involvement with Anita and Richard. This series is great reading! Hamilton has created one of the best developed alternate histories in the genre.
Rating: Summary: Great book.. BAD STYLES! Review: I loved this book...I'm having a hard time getting past the authors descriptives of the characters though. I don't understand why pretty much EVERY male in the book has LONG woman-like hair? I feel like I'm reading about people from 1986 and every time I hear about another long haired male I can't stop picturing 80's rock stars like Winger, Axel Rose, The Nelsons, Metallica and other hair bands as that specific character! I LOVE the writing and the action and the sensuality of these books but I hope her characters become a little more current with stylings and such (One character even was wearing neon colored biker shorts in a previous book-UGH!)...
Rating: Summary: Another masterpiece Review: As an avid reader of Laurell's book's, all I can say is I haven't read anything of hers I haven't liked.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, but not as good as the rest. Review: Blue Moon is a great book, but it does have its downside. The minor characters are described wonderfully, and are easy to like. For example:Jason,Cherry,Asher, and Zane.Anita is cool,as always. But what bothers me is how drastically they changed Jean-Claude's personality. After reading all the AB books,I really don't think that he dates Anita just for power, though it's a good bonus.I don't like the munin part much either. It seems like it was solely created so Anita and Richard could kiss and make up.It was kind of spur-of-the-moment,like Hamilton had decided she didn't like Jean-Claude halfway through the story. But I admit,I am a Jean-Claude fan.Still,if Anita doesn't make up her mind soon,I hope she just runs off with Edward. Despite all that,I still love th AB books, and will be happy to read any other books in the series that come out.I only hope the next one is better planned out,and has more Edward. ^_^
Rating: Summary: This book may make you want to stop reading the series. Review: I LOVED the previous Anita Blake stories, so I was totally blown away when I read Blue Moon. Up until this point, I thought Anita was a fabulous role model: strong, moral, and fearless. Well, now we can throw moral out of that listing. I know most of the other reviews gave away who she slept with in the book, so I won't dance around the issue. First we find that Richard is not at all like what he was portrayed as in the previous novels, then we discover that Anita has turned into a big ball of hormones. I have no problem with a certain degree of sex and romance in the Blake series, but it seems as though this book was written specifically for the sexual aspect. Sorry if I sound like a prude, but I was just totally appalled by Anita's betrayl of Jean-Claude. I couldn't put down all of the previous books, but this one is giving me problems. I think I'll finish it just so I can get to Obsidian Butterfly, which I've been told has an actual story. Well, I feel better now that I've gotten to complain about it (no one I know personally has read the series). DO read the Anita Blake series. Few books are like it. Maybe you'll enjoy Blue Moon more than I did.
Rating: Summary: Surprised to Enjoy It Review: I didn't expect to truly enjoy this book, as the last two Anita Blake books have been drifting more into erotica than plot. But it actually was a bit interesting, probably because I liked the deeper look into lycanthrope psychology and sociology. I was rather suprised with the Richard/Jean-Claude angst-fest to go forth and enjoy the ending as well, with Anita's crisis of faith.
Rating: Summary: I think this addition to the Anita Blake series was GREAT!! Review: I've read many of the reviews that the public has written. Most of them were negative.Personally,I really admire the author a great deal. She has taken something that she enjoys doing and has become successful at it. Anita Blake and all of her talents, new and old, is a very interesting character. The people that gave this a bad review probably read this and wished or pretended that they were Anita. She's incredible! I wish I had the courage and determination that the author gave her.Not to mention the male following. Oh, about the steamy sex stuff, I thought it was fantastic that Anita and Richard finally got together. Before people start whining about how it should have been written, I think they should try to write a book themselves! That way they can write it however they want to.To Ms.Hamilton;keep up the great work! What is Edward's last name? I love all of your characters. How is your family? It must really be hard to write with a little one running around the house. Thank you for the great books!! I've read the whole set about three times now. Can't wait for the next one!!!
Rating: Summary: A new era for Anita, not for the kiddies! Review: As sexy (maybe more so) as "Killing Dance", with, in my opinion, a tighter plot and a tad less lecturing. Eeeexcellent. Downside: no Jean-Claude (Anita, if you don't want him, there are plenty of women who would), as the werewolf Richard finally gets another chance with the woman who left him for a vampire. The book opens with Anita being called out of town to help Richard defend himself against rape charges. Naturally, he's being set-up, for the sole purpose of getting him out of the way so the bad guys can do their thing. And naturally, this makes both Anita and Richard stubbornly stick around, very much in harm's way, to thwart their evil-doing. Anita's brought a couple of Richard's werewolves and some of her wereleopards, and with the local werewolf pack, there's a lot of the same discussions about lycanthrope protocol that marred "Killing Dance"; thankfully, Hamilton seems to have toned it down a bit, or maybe she just ran out of things to say. Much is made of Anita's position as default "lupa" of the werewolves, since Richard hasn't picked another consort since she left him. The wolves don't much like being led by a human - if Anita even is human. It wouldn't be an Anita Blake novel if she didn't gain some sort of new power, so suffice it to say she learns a lot about how to be a lupa by the end of the book. (Her dubious status as Richard's ex-lover is resolved, too - and it's just as hot as anything she's shared so far with Jean-Claude.) Sometimes Hamilton still stretches things a bit; certain elements are just on the verge of being forced. I'm not sure if I belong to the "this is the beginning of the end" school of thought, although if you think that sex is the downfall of this series than assume that from this point forward you'll be disappointed. Personally, I love the fact that Anita collects lovers like shoes; the fact that so many men are falling all over themselves for her is great! Sex and violence is not for everyone, but if you're not afraid of a strong woman who doesn't always take the high road, you'll be in love with Anita too.
Rating: Summary: One of the last good ones Review: It's a shame when you see a series run out of steam. However, I would say this book in the Anita Blake series is one of the last good ones. Anita Blake, our favorite vampire executioner, is becoming one with the vampires she previously hated (in more ways than one)and is trying to come to terms with the man she loves - if she can get past this pesky werewolf problem he has. The story is fast paced - just what we look for! Also, if you are a Richard (Anita's werewolf honey) fan - this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: Okay Review: Great book. I liked that she brought in more werewolves and I like what she did with them it was a great book very good at makeing me not able to stop turing pages.
