Summary: Can You Hear Your Heart Beating?
Review: A tensely well written book. It pays to have an editor help you write a novel. It is deliberately a 'page-turner'. Not recommened to read late at night, alone, with the lights turned down low. It is heart stopping at times. The characters are well written as is the action. It will make you wonder what is in those basements in those old buildings. The best part of the book is the Epilogue. Don't miss it as it ties a few lose ends together

Summary: Better than Jurassic Park???
Review: I really enjoyed this book, but to compare it to Jurassic Park? Crichton is a great storyteller that has the great ability to educate us on the latest techno stuff at the same time. This book tries to do the same thing with educating us on the framework of museums, but it fails miserably on this part. If it could just concentrate on the story and let Crichton educate us, it would have been better. An excellent ending, though

Summary: Capitalizes on the success of "that other book"
Review: I'd like to consider this book on its own merits, but that's not possible. Of course, it compares itself to Jurassic Park in the hype, but even if it didn't, the borrowing is massive. Even that is not a deadly sin, but The Relic falls short of its model on every front: style, character development, suspense, but above all, plausible science. Still, the authors get two points for quickly picking up the scent of a commercial success and two for knowing their craft well enough to capitalize on it. And two more points for trying very hard to cloak a simple monster story in a mantle of modern science

Summary: The Best Book on the Shelf!
Review: I nearly fell back as I read on, hearing the mystery unfold, pulling me into the the dark, erie world of the Museaum of Natural History in New York City. After every one of the 468 pages I wanted to read more, I would end up reading for hours at a time! The characters in the book set perfect examples of human traits like intelligance, fear and greed. In the stuglle for survival a group of 40 traped geusts were forced to go threw with many of our worst nightmares; like being trapped in an isolated enviroment and being hunted by a deadly hunting machine. I have many other great things to say about this book, but I'll cap it of by saying Prestion and Child's "Relic" was a amazing novel! -Mike Roellinghoff

Summary: WOW!
Review: The Relic is amazing! The book is very well written. I would recommend it to anybody. My copy is already almost worn out! The story of a creature created through eating leaves from a South American rainforest, the creature then arrives in NYC, following a shipment of the last of the leaves in existence, to one of the scariest places around anyway: the Natural History Museum. The leaves contain a hormone that is only found two places: the leaves, and the human hypothalamus. When the creature can't get the leaves--well you can imagine what happens next. Scary, gory, extremely creative, an experiment in what would happen if a creature evolved that could kill off the human race, this novel keeps you guessing until the very end--and even farther. I can't wait for the sequel

Summary: Indiana Jones call home!
Review: Jungle images of violence with a high tech tie in make this a thought provoking tale. One is made to wonder what other secrets remain undiscovered in the haphazard, under funded museums . You can almost smell the dust, feel the fear and the see the demon. Genetic engineers probably hated this book. Preston and Child could have fleshed this out with another 100 pages and still maintained my interest. If you like suspense, mystery, delightful little twists and loved the Indiana Jones premises you must read this extraordinarily entertaining book.

Summary: Steven King--WATCH OUT!!
Review: Preston and Child have produced one of the best thrillers released in the last five years. They are able to increase your blood pressure, hours of wakefullness, and fear of dark hallways without any pornographic details or gutter language. Those of us who appreciate King's earlier works much more than his recent attempts--which seem as though they belong within the pages of Penthouse--have new hope in Preston and Child to supply us with thrillers sans "le poo-poo"

Summary: Better then anything you can think of !
Review: An amazing book with a new twist of terror behind every corner. If you think once you start reading this book you can just put it down your dead wrong.I haven't stoped counting the days till the sequil since I closed the first book

Summary: Can't put down type book
Review: Awsome book. The fastest time I,ve spent reading a book. 5 days. Didn't want to put it down. If you like non stop, gory, suspenceful books this is for you

Summary: Alien meets Jurassic Park in The Poseidon Adventure
Review: This made-for-TV book has no redeeming value. It might give you a thrill if you're unfamiliar with manipulative cliches. The pacing is relentless, of course; it's a good device to keep readers from noticing the poorly-thought-out plot. The characters seem to come from a standard list for horror/disaster flicks, modified somewhat for political correctness. And there are so many characters, none are developed beyond that first stereotype. My only pleasure was guessing which of these cardboard cutouts would be dead before the end of the book.. Unfortunately, some of the characters survive -- the "epilogue" is apparently the start of a sequel. The horror, the horror
