Rating: Summary: I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Review: I think IT is the best book Stephen King has written. I have read it 3 times and each time I read it, I am more mezmerized than the last. I always find more little things that I miss with each time I read IT. In about 2 years, I will venture out and read it again.
Rating: Summary: Great horror - do not read before bed-time!! Review: The first part of the book is boring, but since page 400 ( in the hebrew version), it's become very interesting the scerry. One of mr. King's best books, if not the best.
Rating: Summary: THAT STEPHEN - NEVER MISSES THE SPOT! Review: I have read the book so many times my roommate is downright stunned. That's because he didn't get down to read it himself (funny - it's his book). I never let it down for a moment. Though I find some of it crude, nevertheless Stephen King does it crude with style. I found myself in Denbrough's (one of the heroes who has to go back and kill the monster after it got away 27 years ago - OOPS, hope I didn't spoil the fun for anyone!) shoes so many times, wanting to crush It after all the darkness It made everyone go through. So enjoy the ride - it'll scare the living heck out of you.
Rating: Summary: A gripping tale of the strength of innocence and solidarity. Review: Stephen King's IT is a well-written and originally-structured novel highlighting the power of friendship, innocence, and unity between seven normal (yet extraordinary) young people in the small town of Derry, Maine. Their purpose: to slay the evil "thing" which seems to be slaughtering Derry citizens--specifically children. The seven, after having termed themselves "The Losers Club," set out to strike back against the monster (whose identity and motive remain a mystery). The most interesting parts of this book are not its creative narrative structure and its chilling suspense, but its examination of friendship, and its depiction of the evil that seeks to destroy that unity. The circle of friends meets twice, in two time frames, to complete the same task. As children, their imaginations unlock the mysteries of the evil; as adults, separated by 24 years of their lives, different paths, and different places, members of the Losers Club come together again, and are forced to regain their innocence and creativity in order to vanquish the evil force in Derry. That evil force is kept somewhat nebulous throughout the novel. IT is a combination of ambiguous evils, and nothing specific surfaces. However, it is made clear that IT is a product of the town of Derry itself, and its citizens. Racism, social apathy, degradation of women, physical and sexual abuse, harassment, religious bias, gang violence, and ignorance all can be found in Derry, Maine, if one looks beneath the surface. Intangible, hidden, shameful evils constitute IT, and its power. Seven friends must forget their differences, and place their faith in something bigger than any of them had ever imagined: each other.
Rating: Summary: An amazing experience unlike anything else Review: This book, written long before I was mature enough to handle it, holds meaning and depth that can be seen by someone of any age. Reading this as a thirteen year old child, the horror and memories that King wrote about were all too clear in my mind, and made the book seem even more real, terrifying, and amazing. Each character- from tomboyish Beverly to flawed leader Bill held a trait that I could relate to, and made me feel as if I had defeated the great monster that haunted my own chilhood memories along with these seven characters that had almost become my peers. It is a must- read for any mature teenager (a bit too graphic for those under 13), child at heart, or anyone wanted to experience mastery by America's great storyteller. King captures us and brings adults back to their childhood, and children to face their most inner fears.
Rating: Summary: "It" ranked up there as King's best one yet. Review: This book is not for the people with little or no time to read because this one will keep you reading. All 2000 pages of it. A great book that should be read by all.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! SK has done it again. Review: Real cool. He captivates many of teenagers problems with extreme interesting detail, and how their problems don't stop with Pennywise, but continue throughout the days with the torment and torture of being picked on by an insane bully, Henry. Excellent. A must-read. A sure-fire page turner. It will get you hooked throughout the whole book.
Rating: Summary: ONLY BOOK THAT HAS ACTUALLY GIVEN ME NIGHTMARES!! Review: From beginning till end, I was completely captivated by this story. Never read a book that I enjoyed this much. BY FAR the best book I have ever read. Pennywise is one bad dude. I've never read a book twice, especially one this long, but this one was better the second time around. I will definately read it again.
Rating: Summary: This is definitely Stephen King's best. Review: If I could say one thing about this book, it would be simply this: This book IS Stephen King. From the moment you sit down and read it until the moment you finish it is like being in another world: like being in Derry, Maine and confronted with this unspeakable horror. Stephen King's amazing storytelling ability conveys a feeling of actual inclusion in the novel to the reader. The characters: Bill, Ben, Mike, Eddie, Stan, Beverly, and Richie are written with such detail and so lifelike that they seem to jump off the page and practically perform the story for you. The actual method of storytelling itself, with frequent flashbacks create a haunting portrayal of a battle, almost between good and evil that seems to span for a decade. There is not one "slow" moment or period of "down time" in this novel-it is almost as intense and riveting from the very first page as it is to the very last. If anyone planning on buying this book thinks that maybe they shouldn't, think again!! Do not let the length intimidate you...for these 1100 pages went faster for me than books I've read with a length of 300 pages. And believe me, when those 1100 pages are up, you'll find yourself wishing for more. I have only ONE warning: Do not read this book in anything but a well lit room!!
Rating: Summary: This Book Rocks!!!!! Review: Stephen King's IT is an intriguing tale of a clown terrorising a country town. Lot's of thrills, this book by far head's King's genre of horror stories. The adaptation to a movie was a superb translation, yet the book captures the intense horror that just couldn't be experienced during the film. As always King manipulates your imagination and takes you to a world in which even the strongest of will's crumble before King's might. This book is recommended to all those who like a scare or two (or three or four)... a must read.
