Rating: Summary: Absolutely Terrifying And Sexist Tome With Insipid Ending Review: This book was way too long. King crafted some very believable BOY children, but the role of the one girl was inexcusably offensive and exploitative. I have to admit that this is the most terrifying novel I have ever read. But despite its effective frightening powers, because of the bad plotting, outrageous sexism, lack of economy of writing, and horribly lame ending, I have to give it only two stars. My hope is that King will rewrite it someday to salvage what is, underneath, an overwhelmingly scary and good book.
Rating: Summary: Read this book at least 4 times to fully grip it Review: To start with, let me say that this is the absolute best book ever written. I have read it at least five times in the one year period since I first read it. Seven kids who are excluded (The Losers) from the rest of their peers due to the fact that they are different band together in a group. There is Ben, the fatboy who is picked on by the bullies of his school. There is Beverly, a beautiful girl who is excluded because she is poor. There is Richie, who is a funny guy but is counted out due to his smart mouth, buck teeth, and most of all his glasses. There is Eddie, with a case of terminal asthma and a commanding bulk of a mother. There is Stan Uris, who is Jewish. Mike Hanlon, who is a Negroe. And then there is Bill Denbrough, the imaginitave storyteller with a bad stutter and who lost a brother to the most evil being on earth. It. Perhaps one of the most interesting carachters is It. It, who has been with the small town of Derry, Maine (a town which appears normal and reminiscent on the outside, but where too many bad things happen to good people) and who now owns Derry. Another intriging but unappreciated carachter is Henry Bowers, the school bully who gradually goes from mean to insane to murderous as It gains hold on him. After 27 years (as always), It returns after the Losers thought they had killed it in 1958. But in 1985 it returns, and all of them (or is it all of them?) return to fight it again... for the last time. One last thing I want to address is King's use of psychology, how people think without, if you will, thinking about it. For instance, when Sonja Kaspbrak is thinking about why Mike Hanlon, being black, should not be with her son, she thinks, "The grackles don't nest with the bluebirds, and the crows don't nest with the robins" (forgive me if I messed up the quote). Notice how, though she says she has nothing against blacks, people should stay with their own? However, she uses birds that seem to be inferior to others (grackles and bluebirds). This unknowing prejudice somehow for me sums up the psychological genius of Stephen King. If you read one book all your life, read it!
Rating: Summary: I loved IT! Review: This was the best book I have ever read! The plot and the characterzation was awesome. I could releate to the characters, which was really cool. Read it, and don't be intimidated by it's lengthy page number, because it goes so fast. Pennywise was very scary. I had nightmares about It!

Rating: Summary: 1 star or 5 stars??? Review: This was the most well written book i have read. It sucks you right into the lives of 7 people and you fall in love with all the kids. I have to say though, that to have Beverly at the age of 11, having graphic intercourse with all the boys was disgusting and really a let down on the book. I dont understand why SK would go that way on such a masterpiece. I dont feel this book is good for kids or young teens due to that part and the graphic violence. This book does make you feel everything they go through and if you get involved in a book as much as i do you'll be sobbing through the last 15 pages like me. By the way, I didnt find this book scary at all.
Rating: Summary: Excitement 'Till the bloody thing was dead!!! Review: This book was, and still is one of my favorites. It read more like the book was writing King, as opposed to King writing the book.I also believe it was utterly genius to maintain the third person view, so as not to confuse the reader.Above all I love that book!
Rating: Summary: The best book... ever Review: Ever read a book SO good you fell sad when it's all over? This is one of them. I literally cried at the end of the loser's club last adventure together. I'm not sure whether it was from probably never seeing the characters in anything else again or the death of characters you get incredibly emotionally attached to. From the horrifyingly cruel "Patrick Hockstetter" to the great interaction between characters, this is a book everyone should read. I viewed IT as a minor character in that I would have read this book without all the monsters.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK IN THE WORLD!!! WHAT MORE CAN YOU SAY! Review: SCARY AS HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: I can't wait to read IT. Review: I just started to read Stephan Kings books so I didn't get to this one yet but I saw the movie and I get very interested in his books. I haven't even read a whole one yet but I'm almost finished DESPERATION. IT will probably be the next one I read. I also like his books because they are adult reading and I can understand them well because he holds your interest and I'm only 12. I also plan to read ALL of his books.
Rating: Summary: One of the scariest, intense books I have read. Review: Pennywise the clown used to terrify me in my sleep. I would find myself running (speedreading) through the pages to escape what I thought would happen. I was bothed amazed and impressed by the plot and story line, but the ending, as in most Stephen King novels, was a little lacking. In most books by King I find that he builds you up to a point and then drops the ending, but this is one of the best books that I had ever read regardless.
