Rating: Summary: One of Stephen King's Longest and Finest Review: This story takes you to a place of adventure, terrifying murders, and clowns. Seven children set out to find and kill the beast that has plagued Derry, Maine since the beginning of time. Of course, this won't be easy since it can turn into anything they fear, and can manipulate any other human being to do his bidding. This book is full of action, murders, sex, and child abuse. I recommend this for anyone who likes to be scared.
Rating: Summary: Worst book ever! Review: First off, I would like to say that I do not recommend this book for anyone younger than 21, because of the pure amount of adult references, references which more and more feel like something the author enjoys. And secondly, I do not recommend this book for anyone 21 or older because you ought to know better than to read this kind of trash. Basically, the book sucks. Some kid gets killed by clown, wacky hijiinks ensue, including the Creature From the Black Lagoon, fortune cookies, a bunch of dead kids, and the monsters only three weaknesses (?): sneezing powder, turtles, and the names of various birds! Overall the most incredibly annoying and stupid book ever. If you want something funny, try "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." If you want something scary, try "Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath."
Rating: Summary: An Epic Tale of Man vs Clown Review: Seven nerdy-but-likable children, a psychotic clown, and the timelessness of childhood. These are all issues tackled by Stephen King's "It". Although quite lengthy (1100+ pages), it certainly doesn't feel that way when you sit down to read the book. The scenes are well sculpted, weaving together the events bewtween the Derry, Maine of 1958 and the Derry of 1985. All of the characters are well developed, and there's enough creepy stuff to keep you riveted. There are some more "adult" concepts(detailed sexual scenes), so I wouldn't advise it for younger children as a bedtime story, but for the mature reader looking for a thrill, it's a definate read.
Rating: Summary: Definitely one of King's best! Review: IT is the second best book by my favorite author. A lot of people call King 'One of the best authors living'. IT starts out with the death of Bill's brother Georgie. Now we flash forward to 1985 where another string of murders of children have begun again, 27 years later after the Loser's defeated IT. Now it has come back! Mike Hanlon is one of the Losers who stayed in Derry while the others went their own ways that one hot summer in 1958. Bill is now a famous horror-writer, Richie is a famous talk show radio host, Ben is a aratech (I know I spelled it wrong, so sue me), Bevelery is married to a abusive husband but designs clothes, Eddie is a limo driver known for driving huge celebrities around town, Mike is the local librarian, Stan owns his own business (I cant remember, so SUE ME!). Mike then gives them a call telling them that IT has come back. So now, they come back to Derry to talk about IT and how they can destroy it for good. So now King then takes us back to 1958 and 1985. As the book moves along, they each discover IT in their own adventures alone, and they band together to figh IT. Now not only do they have to worry about Pennywise (IT), they have to worry about Henry, and his friends Belch, and his other friend. They pick on them throughout the summer, and they discover IT when they follow them to the sewer where the Loser's face it for the first time in 1958. So now, back in 1985, they go back down there, and they kill Pennywise in his orginial form: a HUGE spider! So now they kill IT, and the end. So why is this one of his best books? King writes a lot, and he has written more than 30 books in this 30 year career. So now, as he slows down as he gets older, Pennywise comes back through the Dark Tower which is a good series. So now, if you are reading this, read IT and prepare to get scared and have a good time with IT.
Rating: Summary: Wowee. Review: This is a GREAT novel. Stephen King has been one of my favorite authors for some time now. Every time I buy a book written by him, I'm just wracked with excitement. I received 'It' for my birthday two and a half years ago, and to this day, it is my favorite novel of all time. Derry, Maine is haunted by the ultimate evil that comes around in twenty seven-year cycles. Seven misfit kids in 1957 find their way to each other, having one thing in common: they've all encountered this evil. They lose touch, and are reunited in 1985 to defeat It once and for all. This 1,000+ page book touches on so many emotional issues, and it's so difficult not to be gripped by the power in King's writing. Each character is so real and multi-layered. Very highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Stupid. Review: 'It' is supposed to be one of his best works, but I couldn't finish it. I thought it was stupid. I stopped at the moment where The Creature from the Blue Lagoon appears and starts attacking one of the characters. How silly!
Rating: Summary: A great book. Review: This is an amazing book. This book made me realize that his "bad guys" in his book might actually be us. The reader begins to place themselves into the lives and minds of every character. Good or Bad. The plot is SO incredibly complex and detailed, and your head will be spinning halfway through the book. Don't let the size fool you. You won't be able to put it down, so this huge book becomes a "weekend reader."The evil is so dark and the power of the said evil is depressing and Heavy. This story is about a group of mis-fit kids that become an unbeatable force one summer in Derry, Maine. (Readers beware of Stephen Kings beloved Derry, Maine.) The way they meet, the people they are and the evil they must face, makes this the best horror book ever to occupy a bookstore shelf. All of the characters are lovable and so REAL that you feel everything they feel. It is truly amazing. I do NOT recommend this book for anyone under 17. It is VERY adult. Some of the ideas, themes and circumstances are not meant for young readers without the careful discusion and direction of an Adult. Proceed with caution. Also, my own word of warning to all. 'It' is real. When you read this book the room does not exist, but 'It' does, and you will be stalked by Derry (It) for a long time to come.

Rating: Summary: Stephen King's It Review: This book starts out slow and the plot gets a little lost in all the description. It's a great book to read and scares the pants off you. The more you get into the story the more you are not able to put it down. The book jumps back and froth in time which can get a little confusing, but very interesting. I have seen the movie and I think the book is ten times better. The book explains more of what happens then the movie does. I really think this is a great horror book and is suspenseful. I really think you will enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: "We all float down here" Review: IT is a novel that you cannot put down, and I happen to be writing this review at 4:30 in the morning, just after finishing up the last 400 pages. Its that addicting folks, you just cant stop reading this book until you reach the final battle between the Losers and IT, be it may be weird but still making sense with Stephen King's special ability for storytelling. This book revolves around the 7 Losers(They're in the Losers club), and their troubles with the evil on and under Derry. They're all kids who are outcasts at school and have developed a bond because of that. They're constantly haunted by IT, the monster that feeds off the denizens of Derry, Maine, and the murderous Henry Bowers, the local school bully who, by the end of the book, chases the Losers with a switchblade with only one conscious thought: To kill all of them. The Losers eventually gang up on IT and almost destroy IT, but it flees deeper underground, and the Losers vow to return if IT comes back, and IT eventually does, in 1985, and the now grownup Losers fight It to an apocylyptic ending. This story delves into the troubles of adolescence(Bullies, being outcasts)and how to get through their troubles, revenge, evil, friendship, and finally, one of the most recurring elements of IT , Love. Unlike your fellow reviewers, I didn't find this book scary, but I truly loved the story and the way King develops his characters into kids you begin to care for, so its really not necessary to read with other people or whatever, just read with the lights on so you can read a great horror story.
