Rating: Summary: What about the last 200 pages Review: I read that book in only 2 days, which says enough about the page turning effect this book has. But after I finished, I wanted to rip out the last 200 pages or so. The plot is so wonderfully intriguing and then this thing which would be called a gang bang in a sex-film.With children? And this comes from a country where great literature like(Nobel- prize winner) Günther Grass` "Blechtrommel" is forbidden due to a small man(about 3 feet high) of age 20(! ) having sex with a girl of his age. IT gets 5 stars for the story and 4 stars off for the ending.
Rating: Summary: Holy You-Know-What! Review: This has to be the definitive John Wayne Gacey biography. To begin with, I love the word CLOWN; it conjures up such treasure trove of images, different for each person. I have always been one of those kids who was kind of annoyed by clowns and have never really found them funny or even very interesting, except as symbols of tragedy and pain, like Pagliachi. King has outdone himself with this novel. And they made a great miniseries from it! My favorite scene in this novel is the one in which the boy visits the sweet little old lady and she turns into a monster. Yike. I love getting the ..it scared out of me.
Rating: Summary: the best ever Review: Do yourself a favor: don't read this book. Well, okay. DO read it, but plan on staying inside with the doors locked and the curtains drawn for several weeks afterward--after dark, anyway. This book is so scary that only King himself could even describe just how scary it is. Okay, so much for the negatives. Seriously, It is the finest novel I've ever read. Not the best horror novel, or the best sci-fi, but the best NOVEL. The characterizations are deep and very believeable, and if the premise isn't, very, somehow that doesn't matter. If the movie "Ghost" made you believe in ghosts, this novel will have you believing that an immortal monster really CAN take up residence in the sewers beneath a small town in Maine, living on the fears of the children who dwell above. But the novel is much, much more. It is a story OF some of those children, and their victory over It is OUR triumph over everything that frightens or intimidates us. The only other drawback I can think of is the fact that this book is so good, the rest of King's stuff (most of which is quite good--the reviews of "Tom Gordon" notwithstanding) pales by comparison. So if you like King, but haven't yet read It, do yourself a favor and don't read it... yet. Read all the others first, and save It for dessert.
Rating: Summary: The Possessed Clown Review: I thought It was excitind and extremely horrifying! It is one of my favorite books. I couldn't put it down! It's one of the most amazing book of the century! I recommed this book to the ages over 13.
Rating: Summary: The Turtle won't be able to help you! Review: I have to totally recommend this book, Masterpiece, actually. It will scare the hell out of you. You will not be "spending" your money at all, you'll be investing your bucks in an apotheosic horror story, and you'll learn how to be brave, how to be true and how to STAND!
Rating: Summary: Thriller Review: This book was an excellent book. Although I have never read a Stephen King book in my life this made me a fan. Pure genius, creative, and scary. I live in a small town and I am 16 It brings back my younger day memories of believing in a haunt;haunting;haunted. I recommend this to everybody who needs a good book to read.
Rating: Summary: Outstandingly written but toward the end a bit over the top Review: Reading this book reminded me of just how outstanding a writer Stephen King truly is. Sure, his work is highly commercial, and his stock in trade is horror and gore, but along the way he also manages to create gripping plot lines played out by interesting and sympathetic characters whom he portrays with remarkable depth. Each one of the former "losers" who comprise the core group that battles against It in this novel has a distinct and fascinating background, and King tells each person's story with passion and precision. The overall story line in *It* is masterfully woven through a combination of flashback and contemporary narration. For me, the only problems with the book are that the ending seems a bit formulaic (made for the Big Screen, perhaps?) and that King chose to include a gratuitious "childhood sex" scene that I, though certainly no prude, think would better have been omitted. All in all, *It* is a darned good read, as Stephen King shows once again that he is as skillful a writer as he is popular.
Rating: Summary: The best novel by Stephen King Review: I first read IT when it came out in the mid-80's and have reread it twice. The book is an excellent story that keeps you reading and reading. Even knowing the plot and the outcome doesn't prevent you from enjoying this book. For anyone who hasn't read a King novel-start with IT.
