Rating: Summary: IT Review: The book Stephen Kings IT is an ok book. Because it is scary book and it begins to be scary when "Georgie was being pulled toward that terrible darkness where the water rushed and roared and bellowed as it bore its cargo of storm debris toward the sea." Also it goes into detail and talks about how the people die and its pretty graohic. The book can be confusing at times cause it would sometimes jump from scene to scene and sometimes the reader wouldn't even know what was happening for example it went from a tradgic death to an event that happened later and it didnt even minchen what happened so the reader would get lost. The book could be suspenseful at times especilly when the reader knew somthing was about to happen and the character didn't and it was like you wanted to tell them but you couldn't thats how its supenseful otherwise the book was ok.
Rating: Summary: Completely Mesmerized me. Review: I'm 14, and thats the first Stephen King book I have ever read. It is the most beautifally put together book I have ever read. The books by Thomas Harris and Dean Koontz I've read are very good indeed, but not as good as this. The size of the book may be quite intimidating, but once you reach page one hundred, the pages fly by so quick. I wish it could have been longer! Stephen King, if you read this, Thankyou for putting out such an excellent book, I enjoyed it immensly, and am looking foward to reading more of you books! For anyone else reading this, I HIGHLY reccomend this book to people of all ages. you WON'T regret you read this book.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, Terrifying, King at the Top of His Game Review: It ranks as one of my three favorite books. The characters are heartwrenching and the clear look at human nature is almost mystical in its clarity. This book is super scary. Pennywise is really really creepy. Unforgettable.
Rating: Summary: Children taste so much better when they're afraid.... Review: What is IT? IT is your worst nightmare. IT is all your fears, and horrors come to life. I read this book in about 6 hours, I never put it down. Derry, the town were IT took place, was the town of 7 children, the only people who could kill IT. IT's most common face(it could be anyone as long as you had an imagination) was Pennywise/Bob Gray. Stephen King definetely made this a very long book, but it says everything it should, no more, no less. IT has it's catchy lines such as:- We all float down here! - You'll DIE if you try! -Aww....what's wrong you wanna it don't ya? DONT YA WANNA IT! - Oh yes georgie...they float, theyyyy float, and when you're down here with me..YOU'LL FLOAT TOO! These are all quotes from Pennywise the Clown(the best evil villain Yet!). And they can be VERY FUNNY in the movie. The actor's voice was perfect for this role. IT can make you frightened for those who have imaginations. This book has some gruesome parts and some sexual parts(Patrick Hockstetter and Henry Bowers chapter...eeww). I think the creators of the film IT, definetely portrayed the book very well. However, they left out some good parts and the ending was one of the cheesiest things I ever saw(Don't Worry this doesn't ruin the WHOLE book and I am not giving away anything here), they did not portray Stephen King's ending at ALL. I recommend this book for people with IMAGINATIONS, or else it won't be half as good. I have to say this is Stephen King's finest. Danny Ferraro, Age 13
Rating: Summary: Great book with a slow start Review: This book was a little slow to get started, even slower than most King books. Like a few other reviewers, I thought there were a couple of scenes in the book that were totally inappropriate. I still give the book 5 stars. It was very interesting with the idea that IT appears as what everything you are afraid of. The descriptions of the characters as children is amazing, you will in your minds eye see your own childhood friends as the faces of the characters. The way you read about how they encountered IT as children and as adults at the same time is pretty exiting. READ IT!
Rating: Summary: The Deadlights vs Space Spiders Review: OK, this is my favourite Stephen King book and contrary to many people I like the ending. I loved characters such as Ben and Beverly. There are sections of this novel that are complete in themsleves that I read over and over again. My favourite sections is The Ritual of Chuud and this is where the children discover the true nature of IT. In my opinion Pennywise the Dancing Clown is one of the most imaginative villians ever conceived in fantasy and horror fiction. I think that this character was strongly influenced by H.P Lovecraft cosmic terrors. Let me say this if I may, those who claim that Pennywise is a SPACE SPIDER have not comprehended the novel. I'd suggest that readers pay careful attention to Chapters 21 (Under the City) and 22 (The Ritual Chuud) to make up their own minds about what It really is. There are two statements in these chapters which demonstrate clearly that IT is not a space spider. I hope you enjoy this book as I did.
Rating: Summary: King is a master Review: This is a really good book. King really gets you in the story and the way he discribes his characters almost make you feel like they are right besides you. This is a really spooky book with howsome parts. The whole description of what happens is great. King is a master.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King's Finest Hour! A brilliant work of Horror! Review: I came to this page not intending to leave a review, but basically check out the reviews in hopes of finding other great books to read. My thinking being anyone who gives King's IT 5 stars is pretty much on the same page as me, and can point me in the direction of other great books. So I've gone through all 400+ reviews and it breaks down pretty much like this, the 5 star reviews breaks down to people who consider IT King's finest work, and people who consider it his second best after THE STAND. I'm in the former group, as I found THE STAND to be one of King's worst books, exemplifying the major flaws in King. Excess, and wordiness, and rambling, pointless descriptions. And the odd thing about the Stand is how it really is the antithesis of IT, it mirrors all of IT's perfections, while being unable to capture them. I am not a Stephen King fan, the Stand summarises most of what I detest in fiction, and in King's novels. I say this to let you know when I give King's IT 5 stars, and call it the greatest novel of horror I have ever read(and I have read a lot, it blows away Koontz, Slade, Barker, Simmons, Straub), I do not say it lightly. Over a thousand pages in size and I ate through it. It was not just horror, it was so much more. it was loss, and youth, and hope, and dreams I had forgotten I had dreamt."Children are man at his strongest, they endure." That's at the heart of IT, that line from "Night of the Stranger". This idea of things like love and innocence that endure. The few people who have given this novel 2 and 3 stars disparaged the ending, I found the ending beautiful, and eloquent, and horrible, and fitting. The final battle is an allegorical one, the final forms, but shadows, but avatars. People who get hung up with the look of the ending are missing the whole point of those 1000 pages. If you can see with better eyes than that, if in this chaotic age you can still smile and laugh, and remember the things in childhood that you loved and feared, the things in adulthood you cherished and lost, you'll love this book. Highest recommendation!
Rating: Summary: Thriller! Review: One of my all-time favorites! King brings upon another evil villian- as well as 7 kids to fight it. At 1,093 pages, it's the longest book I've read, although it doesn't drag on too much. It flashes back between The "Losers" childhood, and too when they rejoin to finally try and kill IT again. I prefer their childhood. You'll love the characters- Bill, Bev, Richie, Stan, Eddie, Ben & Mike, and especially Pennywise. What I'm trying to say is this: Stephen King's It is a great read, although I wouldn't exactly recommend it for your first SK novel. It has a creepy plotline and an overall good story. Mature readers... as always ;) Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK EVER Review: It by Stephen King is perhaps one of the 10 best works of literature in the past 50 years. Stephen does not just write a story, he writes a whole iinterseting world for readers to encompass chapter by chapter. Please by this book!
