Rating: Summary: Enthralling! Review: An excellent book that definitely is exemplary of Stephen King's horrific talents. Imagine your worst ever nightmares incorporated into one terrifying being! Do not be daunted by the size of the novel. I first read this book in middle school where I read it cover to cover only to close the book and immediately start again. Having just read it again at 27, it is (morbidly) comforting to know that I remain awe of Stephen King's genius. Give it a try!
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have ever read Review: IT is such a good book, words can't describe it. The characters are so real I feel like I know them. When there is a death in this book I feel like I'm losing a friend. IT is a scary book, but it is also touching the way the seven friends are so close and how they band together to defeat the evil force in the town of Derry, Maine. Even if you don't like horror novels, read this because it is more than that. This book made me laugh, cry, and scream with fear. Stephen King is a great writer.
Rating: Summary: Without doubt the best novel ever written by Stephen King Review: I was 12 years old when I was reading this book and, having a vivid imagination, it scared the hell out of me. I slept for weeks with lights on in my room and I always had a slightly bad feeling while going to the toilet (read the book to know why)... I guess why this book captivated me so much is that the heroes are children, young and not among the most popular, smartest or strongest. Young boys and a girl you could yourself identify with. They arent the most popular, strongest or smartest kids... All are haunted because of their bad family situation, rough pupils, health problems... And its those loners, finding together and finally confronting a century-old evil force living in the Derry canalisation... An evil force, IT, that the adults of Derry dont want to realize it exists... The books is cleverly made, offering insight in the life of the main charcters both as youngsters and adults, confronted again 20 years later by the evil they thought they had destroyed in a memorable fight a long time ago... This is the best Stephen King ever achieved.
Rating: Summary: COMPLETELY TERRIFYING Review: I've read many supposedly scarey books but, none can compare. "IT" left me in fear every night before I went to bed. I've never been so terrified in my entire life. But then the relationship between the 7 protagionists make you feel like you can get through this book if they can. I would not advise reading this if you are young. If you want a good scare... just start reading IT.
Rating: Summary: My favorite novel of all time Review: I highly suggest that all of you read this book. It's a work of art! It's the only novel to scare the hell out of me. Pennywise the clown is the best Villian in literary history. King has a unique way of writing. I loved how Big Steve wove the past and present and didnt lose the reader. Big Steve has a way for us to remember your childhood fears, and make you shiver as an adult. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. IF you read it, and hear a noise under your bed, it's just Pennywise, wanting to say "You'll float too"...
Rating: Summary: i still have nightmares about clowns... Review: this was and is still the only stephen king novel I have ever read. i have read it at least twice and plan on reading it again when time permits... it is a long book (over 1000 pages). it is the 1950s...the book tells the story of a group of teens in derry, maine and their horrifying experiences with an evil entity that lives off their city. when it seems the evil is put to rest, the teens part ways, grow up, and pursue adulthood. they have, however, vow to come back to finish the evil off if IT is not really dead. enter the mid 1980s... murders have started again in derry. IT has returned. the only teen who stayed behind in derry is now a libarian. he calls his friends back to finish the evil that is IT once and for all. this book is absolutely amazing. it makes for a very enjoyable read. the characters are so real, derry seems like it could actually exist, and the horror comes on early and plenty. once I was finished reading this book, it felt as if I had lived my life with these people, experienced the terrors that they went through. I was satisfied emotionally and intellectually. King's IT is a must read, if you like horror or not.
Rating: Summary: IT IS THE GREATEST BOOK EVER! Review: I read through most of the reviews and may i say that many people are quite misinformed! It is not a spider! It is an evil entity that came from above (I won't say that it came from space, it sounds stupid!) For the person who said that it was predictable, of course it was it wasn't a mystery novel! A great reason to finish the book would be because of "The Losers Club" touching friendships and for the little quirks that King adds into each and every sentence! Someday i hope to be a famous writer and if I do i will owe it all to King who has inspired me in so many ways! This it the best book that he has ever written, and he's written a lot! Rating: Summary: Really very good Review: King's old '50-esque curse of the mummy, teenage werewolf, vampire, creature from the black lagoon thing was really starting to get on my nerves, but I have to say, it all works very well in this book (he even ties in It Came From Outer Space!). This book could be described as King's opus, and I enjoyed it more so than The Stand (although that's largely because of The Stand's ending, but that's another story). The characterization of the children in this story was very well done, and their transformation into adulthood (as well as the effects of their shared trauma) completely worked for me. The ending was the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars...I find King typically falters a bit at the end of his stories, but this time I don't think it was so much a problem of how to end the book as it was how do you live up to the ending you've built up to? Don't base your opinions on the TV movie, if you saw it - check out the book and find out why It's so scary!
Rating: Summary: Heather's Clowny Ways Review: The book IT by Stephen King is about 7 kids who are getting revenge on a clown mamed Pennywise. A visous, mean, amd gory clown that likes to take the life of little kids and then haunght their families with the memories of that kid for years and years. i gve the book five stars because it is well edited and well told. Stephen King, i think is one of the best horror book writers in history. In the book the kids over come their fears and defeat Pennywise the clown. i liked the book very much. I have also seen the movie, i recomend you to see it too.
Rating: Summary: The Magic Exists Review: Throughout my years as an avid fan of King, I have encountered many people who denounce the quality of his work without reading it on the basis of his reputation as a master of horror. I cannot deny King's ability to terrify (In fact, I think, it is a sort of gift); however, I must also acknowledge a deep sense of spirituality and goodness that prevails in many of King's works. Thus, to me, IT is a heartfelt portrait of life itself, mesmerizing and horrifying, something which demands recognition and is most successfully confronted with the sort of love that can only be forged from the truest friendships. IT teaches that these friendships often change with time and leave one to rely upon the strength of his memories to muster up what was once shared, and that such a task is possible if one is able to give himself over to that childlike state of enchantment that comes "just after dreaming" (1090). There is something different for everyone. But I strongly encourage all who are open to adventure and tolerant of some gruesome moments to treasure the genuine beauty that lies at the heart of King's magical tale.
