Rating: Summary: scared my toes off Review: It's been a while since I worked up the nerve to read this. It wasn't as freaky as Salem's Lot, but it was pretty bad. It's really amazing that some guy writing words on piece of paper can make me make sure the closet door is shut and that there's nothing under my bed at night.Overall, it's a very good book with part of it in flashbacks and the other part in the present. Very good.
Rating: Summary: King does know how to tell a story Review: This story of a group of kids in Maine was a little too long for me. King does know how to tell a good story but this one was a little too much. It was still a good read but I would never read it again. The ending was a little weird and maybe a little innapropriate. I guess thats whats so great about King though. Ive only read 4 King novels and many of his short stories and this one was somewhere in the middle. I loved Salems Lot and his short stories were great too. (The Mist was absoulty amazing, one of the best short stories ever)
Rating: Summary: Readers Response Review: The book I read was IT by Stephen King. I think this book definately classified as a horor/suspense novel because of the content. In this book a group of children try and conquer an age old evil that haunts their litle town of Derry, Maine. The book switches points of view which makes it more suspenseful and interesting. This book has stories on the side of the main tale that tie in with the plot throughout the book, it makes you realize the control this evil has on the town. I would reccomend this book for people with high maturity levels and high reading level. I found this book at the Winnetonks School Library. A quote I would say that most explains my reaction to the book would be "Life is like a box of chocolates, you NEVER know what your gonna get"- Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump
Rating: Summary: A suspensful book that keeps you alert at all times. Review: The story of Stephen King's IT is about an evil presencce and the kids who fought it off. Years ago, a group of children discovered the existance of and fought off and evil creature that was preying on the children of a small town called Derry. As children, dealing wth the IT seemed to be over but now as they grow they must return to derry with littke remembrance of their childhood. The IT lures unsuspecting children near and can also take on the form of his victimes worst nightmares. I really enjoyed reading this book. Thgough I've read it several times I pick p on parts I had missed previously. I enjoy reading Stephen King books because he goes into great detail and I reccomend this book for anyone who enjoys a thrilling and intense book.
Rating: Summary: Very good and a must re-read Review: I read this book when i was very young. I loved it and read it over and over again. Stephen Kings seems to combine every aspect of good writin in each of his books. You'll always find sex, mystery, death, gore, and stick-to-it-ness in every book. This one, takes the lives of kids in a small Maine town and shows us how strong friendship can/should be. These kids are forced to grow up fast when an evil presence is taking over their town. The think they can stop it. Do they? You'll have to find out, but believe me, you'll love the ride.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: I find it ironic that a lot of reviews mention the reader's age, and then how quickly they finished the book. The beauty in this book is not in the quick pace of the novel, but rather, the details that King weaves between the lines. He crafts every character individually, and by the end of the book, you feel an almost comradirie with the group. It is great, not because you can finish it in a day, but because of the great details that help support every page.
Rating: Summary: A Magnificent Epic of Friendship and Fear Review: It is by far the best book I have ever read. At first 1100 pages looked awfully intimidating, but I never wanted to see it end. The movie, which I saw first, is a mere shadow of this book. These seven kids will live with you forever. It overwhelms you, draws you into the world and King has accomplished something extraordinary. He turns the monster It into the eighth main character, for the best parts of It are when you are taken inside the mind of this creature. It's unbelieveable. You will remember this book forever.
Rating: Summary: A shapechaging clown that knows your deepest fears ! Review: In the small sleepy town of Derry, Maine there is something wrong. Every 30 years, young children start disappearing. The children are being preyed upon by what appears to be a circus clown. Only this isn't your ordinary circus clown. Pennywise isn't a clown, IT is a creature that can shapechange at will. The story starts off in 1958. Pennywise has targeted seven individuals that are outcasts in junior high. These seven outcasts in junior high form "the loser's club" in order to get some protection from the school's gang of bullies -Henry Bowers, Victor Criss and Belch Huggins. Unfortunately, the bullies are just the beginning of their problems. The children start telling each other about encounters that they have had with Pennywise the clown, after Mike gives a class report that shows a drawing of Pennywise - The Dancing Clown -from the late 1880's. It turns out that Pennywise can shapechange into your deepest fear. Stan is terrified of werewolfs and when he first encounters Pennywise - it looks like a clown, but as he his backing away looking for a exit (since you normally don't encounter a clown outside the circus - and one that calls you by name from out of the shadows) he starts to see the clown change - hair on the arms, and then more and more like a werewolf as he glimpses behind him as he is being chased through the building. After Richie's little brother is killed by Pennywise and other children disappear - the "loser's club" decide to enter the old town sewers and hunt down Pennywise themselves.... I have read everything that Stephen King has written and I would have voted this to be his very best book except I was disappointed in the explanation of what the clown was at the very end of the book. But despite this I would still place this book in the top 5 of Stephen Kings best books - in the company of The Green Mile, The Stand, Christine, The Shining.
Rating: Summary: It wasn't that bad! Review: When I first looked at the book it was a little intimidating, a 1000+ pages might make you want to rent the movie, but don't. The book is one of the most descriptive and indepth books I have ever read. The characters; Beverly, Richie, Ben, Bill, Mike, Eddie and, Stan, are so real you feel like your a part of the Lucky 7. The way King has Pennywise (an evil clown who lives in the sewer) haunt or scare the kids is great. The story bounces back from 1958 to 1985, its a little confusing but you get use to it. It will keep you on your toes. When Mike find out that after 30 years pennywise is back, they all come together to get rid of him once and for all. When they were kids they all promised eachother that if he came back the would unite to get rid of him. The entire book was written flawlessly, The only complaint I have is the ending is to scattered with a bunch of things, I got confused.
Rating: Summary: Indulgent Review: There is nothing wrong with this book that snipping out 700 pages wouldn't fix. Indulgent.
