Rating: Summary: Creepy Review: I had to keep the light on for this one. This book is King at his creepiest, as he delves into his mythology of the evil in the town of Derry. As the story begins, five adults have come back to finish the job they didn't as a kid and destroy the evil entity that has been murdering the people of Derry for centuries. This book was utterly frightening, get it for a great scare.
Rating: Summary: Children's Imaginations take flight! Review: S.K's IT is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I love the way S.K. goes from character to character, from teenage years back to present day. Sometimes its hard to tell what's what but it makes everything flow that much better, and you grow to love and care for each character. Billy, the wise, gifted writer and leader of the group, Stan is soft hearted and slightly wimpy, Richie with all his voices adds laughter and humor to the tale, Eddie with his powerful inhaler or battery acid who is strong mentally even if he isn't strong physically, Mike who looks out for everyone and adds color to the group in more ways than one, Beverly with her beauty and strength, and finally Ben whos weight never gets him down. The 7 become a kind of magical circle of power, a witches coven of sorts that fight IT as children and later as adults. Only children can really see IT, with its horror, its blood splattering terror, and its orange pom poms. As a child I was always afraid of clowns, and reading this story it brings the terror back and throws it in my face. This is a great book, I recommend it for someone with a tough stomach as with all S.K's books. He isn't afraid of a little carnage. Everytime I read another of his books, I find myself filling up with more ideas for my own books, like a ballon about to pop. If I ever make it out to the word of writing, S.K. will defintely be one of my major role models. I plead with you to read this book, its 1000 or so pages only took me a week or two to read, and only because I had work and school and I had to eat and sleep sometime. READ!!!!!! :)
Rating: Summary: Gets old... Review: The book needed a lot of editing. The endless dialogue and sub-plots become tiresome really fast. I could only make it half way through.
Rating: Summary: An absolute marvel Review: I first read 'IT' when I was in my last year of primary school, whilst I enjoyed the book a lot, I don't think I got as much out of it as I could have done, due to a general lack of understanding. However, recently I read it again and only stopped reading for food breaks. One of the many reasons why I like this book and others King has written is because of the way King really unravels the personalities and lives of the characters, without straying too far away from the plot. In my personal opinion, this is the best of King's yet, besides perhaps, 'The Stand'. If I had any advice it would be; don't watch the film, it will ruin the way you think about the characters.
Rating: Summary: wonderful journey!! Review: To me, it was a book about childhood, memory and nostalgia. And there is no doubt that it is the King's best I've ever read. If you're going to read this book very soon, just bundle up! 'cause it'll be a wonderful, but emotionally difficult JOURNEY!!
Rating: Summary: The scariest of them all? Review: Just finished 'Dreamcatcher' by Stephen King, and though it was great. Have been a big fan for many years now, and whilst I like the way Stephen King always tries different things with every book, its the old fashioned BIG story that he does best."IT" is, in my opinion the best King book of all, and despite its size, you'll find your self whizzing through it. The ending is slightly dissapointing, but only to the extremely high standard of the rest of the book. Enjoy !
Rating: Summary: Read in 3 languages Review: I have to tell you that this is the best book I ever read. In fact, it was the first book I ever read of Steven King and if it wouldn't be that good I never would have gone on with reading his books. I was lucky it is that good. I don't won't to spoil anything of the story because every little details should be read by yourself. It's just if you like a book that cares about epic friendship, an evil villan (well, I read the reviews and I don't agree that Pennywise and/or Bob Gray etc. are IT - Deadlight, I assume a lot did not get the true nature of IT). I read the first copy with 14 in German, with 15 in French and with 16 in English. Read it 5 more times since. The German edition is missing some parts (about 200 lines). Buy, Read, Read again.
Rating: Summary: An absolute masterpiece Review: This book blew me away. Never before have I read a book where the craft of story telling was so wonderfully executed. A tale of seven outcasts, drawn together by the terror of It, an unimaginable creature stalking the sewers of their hometown, Derry. At times, this story had me laughing, especially at Richie's voices... whilst other parts had my heart beating at breakneck speed. It is a truly scary book. The characters are just unbelievable, and as you read the novel you will be drawn into their lives, share their triumphs and sympathise with their downfalls. The end is a slight anti-climax, although I could not imagine how King got the book this far anyway. He is a true genius! The very end of the novel left me sad... if you read it you will know why. Nevertheless this is absolutely brilliant. The best novel I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Very Very Good book. A bit long, though Review: IT - A Magnum Opus Of Horror, says one of the critics on the back of the book, and their not kidding. At 1090 pages, it is Kings second-largest work yet, and from what i've read, his best. The description on the back gives you a woefully inadequite description of the book, and the book is much more about the power of friendship than an insane clown killing people. The main characters are as follows: "Stuttering Bill" Denbourough, Ben Hanscom, Eddie Kaspbrak, Richie Tozier, Beverly Marsh, Stanley Uris, Mike Hanlon and IT (or Pennywise the Dancing Clown). I only read this book because a friend strongly reccommended it, I normally would have shyed away from it because of it's sheer length. It does get boring in some parts (The Interludes, sometimes) and when you get to the last section you just want the book to END because you have been reading it for so long. Pennywise/Bog Gray/IT is a terrifying villian, a shape-shifter who can turn into anything that scares people the most. This book has EVERYTHING, it will scare the shnite out of you.
Rating: Summary: One of his best... Review: One of the best king novels he's written in my opinion
