Summary: Very moving
Review: This is one of my all time favourite books and I've read it so many times I've lost count. King has written an amazing book, not just about the monster that lurks in the sewers, but of friendship and enduring hardship together as a team. The characters in this book are excellently constructed and the world around them, insurpassable. This will move any reader at heart and wish for a friendship as secure and unbreakable as these seven kids had, and will weep when they see the courage and determination they have. A definite must read, but be warned, you will be moved by it.

Summary: "It" Doesn't Have It
Review: Stephen King fell into something of a slump in the mid 80s to early 90s as most of what he wrote during this time was rather bizarre. With the exception of Misery, books like It, The Tommyknockers and the Dark Half lacked any real sense of horror and were just too incredulous to have any real impact. Although the plots were unique, they never lived up to their potential.

Of the three, It was the most promising but also the most disappointing as there were too many characters and too many situations, which made for a rather untidy ending. In Salem's Lot and Pet Sematary, King aims for our supranatural jugular and he does it quite effectively. However, in It, King doesn't try to scare the reader, rather, he appeals to our sense of the grotesque but gets uneven results. "It" makes for difficult reading as it is rather long. This book dwells too much on the complexity of and the the relationships between the characters, which makes for rather cumbersome reading.

Bottom Line: "It" is not one of Stephen King's better works so unless you're an avid fan of his, this is one book you may not want to bother with.

Summary: A beautiful horror story.
Review: Yes, the monster and the horror story are great, but forget about that. This is a book about childhood, friendship, and the power that one has as a child and (sadly) looses as one turns into an adult; the power of believing in anything you want to believe. Anything is possible when you're a child.

Summary: Creepy
Review: Although it's the longest Stephen King book I've read, the extra time was worth it. This book is about 7 kids from Maine who encounter a vicious evil that has held their town hostage since before mankind was created. Every 27 years, It appears as a victim's greatest fear, kills them, and drags them into the sewers, where It lives and sleeps. Each cycle lasts 18 months, and can take dozens of children. The kids believe that they've killed It, but 27 years later they are called back. It's awoken. There is so much detail and passion in this writing that you don't want to stop for even a moment. Definitely a must-read.

Summary: Best book I have ever read!
Review: I just finished this book yesterday, and I think it was great. You feel like you know the characters. From whenever I picked up the book to when I put it down it always kept me on the edge of my seat. I don't know how people could find this boring, it is long I'll admit that, but if you know you are not going to have enough time to read it then don't pick it up. A few people in here are saying this was a bad book because it described to much, would you rather have King say, "While there were 7 kids who lived in a small town in Maine, something was killing a bunch of kids so they went underground and hurt It. Then when they were adults It came back so they went back underground and killed It again." No that just wouldn't be good. A book with lots of description is great. I seriously recomend this book to anyone who has the time.

Summary: My first Stepehen King book
Review: IT was the first Stephen King novel I ever read. It's what got me hooked on SK and I've stayed hooked for many years now. I'm not given to re-reading novels but I made an exception with IT because I remembered it as being SCARY and powerfully written. Upon re-reading, I was not disappointed. Even when you know the outcome, the power of Stephen King's writing leaves you gasping for breath.

The start to the story is when little Georgie Denbrough chases his newspaper boat that his brother made for him. There has just been a heavy downfall of rain and Georgie lets the boat sail down the street - straight into the drain on the side. He's about to forget about it and go home when a clown appears from nowhere and asks him if he wants it back. But when Gorgie reaches for it... bye bye Georgie.

After that, the horrors build, the tension groans, the suspense rattles the foundations and, once again, you're hooked into a Stephen King fantasy world where nothing is as it seems and very little is as it should be.

IT is still as scary as it was when I first read it. If you've not yet been tempted, give way NOW and add this book to your shopping basket.

Summary: One of the best I've read!!
Review: Stephen King is one of my favorite authors, and this book is his best... I read this book in about 10 days, I was so ingulfed in the story that I could hardly put it down... I love the way it switches from past to present back and forth seamlessly throughout the book... The characters and the Derry Maine scene are what hooked me to the book though... I felt like I knew the characters intimately as I read the book, and the scene almost seemed to come out of my childhood memories, and so I felt as if I was there in the book... I loved everything about this book so much, I just wish it could've gone on another 1000 pages or so... I've read quite a few books by Stephen King, and this is by far his epic best... it captures such an aspect of childhood, inocense, curiosity, whatever, that we all can relate to in the characters, and it plays on our own childhood memories making the words come alive into real pictures, and places... I can almost remember reading every page, where I was for every important scene... I loved every page of this book... definately check it out...

Summary: Epic tale of FEAR
Review: IT is a well-crafted tale concentrating on people's greatest fears. Long ago, a group of youngsters went through a terrible experience. Once it was over, they all agreed to swear themselves to secrecy. Many years later, the group is reunited to find that the evil has returned and they must face it again together once and for all.

This book gets out of the blocks slowly, mainly because there are so many characters to develop. It's unique in that King writes essentially two books here; one tells the story of the original incident when the characters were children and the other guides us through their present time struggle to stop the mysterious killer as adults. The novel switches from one time to another just about every chapter so you never really learn the outcome of either plight until the very end.

All-in-all this book is entertaining and original reading. Once you learn the background of each person, it picks up nicely and keeps you guessing 'til the end. I found the ending a little strange and unsatisfying but the story was a good read regardless.

Summary: Not for the faint-hearted
Review: Sure, the length of the book at a first glance might be enough to scare you already. And it is complicated. But It is totally worth it. This is a book that needs commitment.

So be prepared to devote almost all of your free time into this book. It immerses the reader and is a fascinating treat to the senses (especially for those with an imagination). Chillingly haunted, very wordy, this book is not famous for it's simplicity.

But if you're not looking for simple, and you want a terrific scare, pick this up right away. Probably one of King's best.

Summary: My favorite by King.
Review: This is by far my favorite work by Stephen King. Even though he's written so many wonderful and enchanting books. This one just had me from hello, I suppose. It was also the book that really got me hooked on King. Literally everything you could want in a horror novel is in this novel. The children in this book is what I think made it the best one. They seem like the kids you knew when you were growing up.

This story, timeline-wise, begins with little Georgie Denbrough chasing his little newspaper boat his brother made for him when he was bored from being home sick in bed. There had just been a huge flood in Derry, Maine and George took out the boat and let it sail down the street. It ended up going to fast for him and he saw it go into the drain on the side of the street. As he was about to forget about it and go on home a clown came out of nowhere and asked him if he wanted it back. But when he reached for it....let's just say that was the end of little old Georgie.

One thing led to another during their childhood. Some things good and some very disastrous. They thought they had killed it way back in 1958 but they had been misled. They all got called back twenty seven years later for a reunion.

I really didn't think that the ending was too great but that it okay. I didn't let that get to me. It was still very wonderful. Although it is long you really can never get enough of it. It's definitely one to read over and over throughout the years. I have read it thrice and will be reading it again sometime. I'm glad I decided to buy this one.
