Summary: Excellent, fast paced story
Review: As usual repairman jack's adventures made it difficult to put the book down and work at the office...or go to bed at night. I started reading F. Paul Wilson many years ago -The Keep. I enjoyed the book but didn't discover others until last year so I had to get them all and read them in order. I like RP series best of all his great books. Dualism is a deeply imbedded idea for me being brought up very religious and still working hard to recover from it. Wilson's books put all the bizarre ideas religion put in my head in an entertaining format. Dark versus light. Good versus evil makes for great story lines. He works them perfectly.

Summary: SOME POTENTIAL READERS NEED TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK!
Review: Almost all of the "Repairman Jack" novels have been put out in Signed (Autographed to those who don't understand what Signed means), numbered (means this edition is limited to just a few hundred copies), editions that are produced with the finish paper and binding for the dollar. These editions eventually become collectibles as they go out of print. CRISSCROSS, like the rest of the books in this fabulous series, is excellent with a plot filled with unanticipated twists, a more in-depth look at our dark hero with just the hint of what is to come in the near future for him. A little research on one's part would have shown that the Trade Hardcover edition of CRISSCROSS will out at the end of October and that Amazon.com has it on sale right now for a little over $16.00. Don't rate an excellent thriller one star just because you aren't paying close enough attention to the book market and the type of book that has a $55.00 price tag on it. Limited editions are usually reserved for collectors of the series, not for the average reader. Enough said!!!

Summary: great Repairman jack thriller
Review: Few know that Repairman Jack exists except his pregnant girlfriend Gia, her daughter, and a few other souls that he trusts. People turn to Jack when they need problems solved without the police involved. Jack fixes things for cash only as he has no money or paper trail to follow. Jack seeks a way out of the cold without attracting attention so that he can marry Gia.

While he ponders his problem, two cases come to him. Maggie the nun says that someone is blackmailing her with illicit pictures of her with her lover; she wants jack to destroy the pictures before the Church finds out. Maria hires Jack to learn if her son is okay since she lost contact wit him when he joined the Dormentalist Church whose founder Luther Brady believes that burying certain designated pillars in specific locations will fuse this world with its mirror realm leading to paradise regained.

Jack destroys the pictures with a little help from a hacker, but when Maggie informs her lover that they no longer have to pay the extortionist, tragedy occurs. Jack learns about the pillars and what will happen once Brady finishes planting them; he must stop the false prophet at all costs to save the world as we know it.

Repairman jack novels are always fun to read, but this thriller, though also quite entertaining and exciting, is much darker than usual. He solves the nun's problem, but the results are not what he or she expected forcing him to take an amoral position with the blackmailer. The Brady problem is simply world threatening. For those who know Jack will know that F. Paul Wilson provides another fantastic reading experience.

Summary: Almost, but not quite a good book
Review: First, be forewarned, there are spoilers below. If you have not yet read the book, do not proceed.

I have been a loyal Repairman Jack reader since my older brother brought the first book home from the library. That being said, while the latest novel is the standard Repairman Jack fair, there is one part of the plot that doesn't seem to fit in at all and puts a stain on the rest of the book.

In order to dig up dirt on Brady, Jack and Cordova follow him to his "hidden" cabin and find him *drumroll* . . . having sex with underage boys??!! What?! Where did this come from? If maybe his pediophalic perversion had something to do with his plan to "take over the world" I could swallow it. But as it is, it just seems as though Wilson had written himself into a corner and couldn't find an inventive way to wrap things up. It would have made just as much sense for Jack to have found Brady fornicating with wild animals.

I don't know, maybe it's just me but this pretty much ruined the book for me. In interviews, Wilson has said that he planned on ending the Repairman Jack series a few books ago but due to public pressure, continued to write them. It seems apparent to me that his heart isn't in it and that he should re-evaluate his decision.

Summary: An enjoyable read
Review: I discovered Repairman Jack in a short story anthology. I found the character interesting and refreshing, a sort of Everyman living under the radar and solving difficult problems for people. The complication of the "Otherness" only makes the stories more interesting. While I would not rate this book as Wilson's best, it is a Repairman Jack story, and therefore, well paced and interesting. Jack is a definitely a likeable character, and his inventiveness in "fixing" problems for people makes these books enjoyable. Jack is not a superhero, but he has wit, humor and creativity when handling his "fixes." I have read all of the Repairman Jack stories and they never get stale. Wilson has a talent for writing entertaining stories, and Jack is a character that should appeal to almost anyone.

Summary: Repairman Jack part ??
Review: I enjoy reading about Jack and generally like all novels by Wilson.
This may sound nuts but I wish Repairman Jack did just that. He has methods and a mantra unlike any other good guy taking matters into his own hands to squash the bad guys.
But the supernatural aspects do not work for me with Jack. I dislike the far-fetched Other in this context.
Get the bad guys Jack and leave it at that.
Without reviewing past Jack novels this one "clearly" leaves us hanging and we know the serial shall continue.
Maybe in the next book Jack can vanquish the Other and lets move on to other (no pun intended) things.

Summary: Repairman Jack for President
Review: I'm a big F. Paul Wilson fan and a huge Repairman Jack fan. I paid the $55.00 for the limited edition book. Why? Two reasons. One, I collect books (and actually read them). Two, I did not want to want for the trade edition to come out. Crisscross was worth well worth the money and time I spent reading the book. I have all of the Gauntlet Press Repairman Jack books.

Repairman Jack is a fix-it guy. If you have a problem, he will fix it for you. He lives on the fringe of society. He does not have a social security number, nor does he pay taxes. In Crisscross, there are two story lines that tie in together. A nun, who is caught on film in a compromising position wants Jack to get back the pictures. Two, a mother wants Jack to find her son who is deeply involved in a world wide cult with sinister ties.

Crisscross is a stand alone book, but is part of Wilson's Adversary series (I think it fits into the Lovecraft Universe). Most of Wilson's books and short stories (including an anthology that he edited) tie into his Adversary Universe. His books are awesome and I'm happy that I've started reading them about four years back.

Wilson is definitely one of the best writers out there. If you don't want to spend $55 on a limited edition, you can wait until it is released in trade hardback or paperback. In the meantime, you can pick up trade hardbacks and paperbacks of the Adversary series (The Keep, The Touch, The Tomb, Reborn, Reprisal and Nightworld), and the Repairman Jack books (The Tomb, Legacies, Conspiracies, All the Rage, Hosts, Gateways, and The Haunted Air).

This is the best series out there.

Summary: Guilty pleasure without the shame
Review: In one day I found an author that delivers a thrill ride packed with more delicious corruption and gratifying pleasure than any indulgence to date. Here is a guilty pleasure without the shame.

With no knowledge of the previous books in the Repairmen series, I can honestly tell you that I had no trouble reading this latest addition. In fact, after reading it, I actually hunted down the illustrious Igor for pleas of more. The plot starts out wickedly simple and ordinary only to twist and continuously re-shape; submerging you into Jack's world while keeping you unaware about just how far you've come. The outline is where the familiar territory ends and the ingenuity begins. The subplots, there are many, interweave delicately and connect with a subtle but intense impact. The pace in the book is dead on. There is no speed up, it starts out with a bang and maintains momentum through out the story.

The atmosphere is filled with a sense of nail biting apprehension. Wilson definitely pulls off a state of urgency and malevolence, infusing you into a state of tension and fear. The author's style of writing is tight and candid, without even a smidge of overly complicated unnecessary Big Words.

Without a doubt, the characters are what truly scored a touchdown for me. Jack is just like any ordinary guy, flaws and all. The champion in this collection, you not only begin to know him, but also eventually begin to rally for him not only to win, but also to prevail. The secondary characters are detailed with the same voracity and dedication as the central player. You will find no skimping here, nor any over-the-top embellishments. What you are given is a cast of characters that you could find anywhere, even your local tavern.

My rating? Are you certifiable? I give this book a 24 karat 5 . With an entanglement of violence, retribution and the supernatural, Wilson strikes gold! Go out and buy it new, NOW.

Summary: Great entertainment
Review: Once again, one of my favorite authors comes through with another exciting addition to the 'Repairman Jack' series. Of course one can expect nothing less than this from F. Paul Wilson. The story pulls you in like few can.
The ultimate thrill is the justice meted out by The Repairman on those most deserving. He not only does one job, he does several at a time, so the thrills are spread throughout the novel.
A great story (series), great characters, and enough thrills to please all readers of suspense--both natural and supernatural.

Highly recommended.

Summary: Reason for Price
Review: The reason it is so expensive is because Gauntlett Press releases a limited number of signed and number special edition first print books for many authors, F Paul Wilson's latest, Crisscross, being one of them...If you give it some time when they expectedly will sell out, the regular releases will be put out at a more "normal" price
