Summary: Put off with this major disappointment!
Review: I did not like the first thing about this story! I thought it was nasty in every area. I was totally disappointed with it as a whole so much in fact that I will not read any more books by Sherrilyn Kenyon ever again!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: The book is hot, but not much else...
Review: This book is really sexy. The author excels at writing really good sex scenes. Other than that, there is not much else holding this book together. Typical of this author, the hero has a horrendous past that makes him an emotional cripple. I think you can see where the plot is going from that. The heroine will rescue him and make him whole. There is no journey to love in this book, the characters simply love each other. The plot is more focused on action. I enjoyed reading it, but will not read other books in the series, as the book lacked the emotional poignancy that I look for. As a further note, the author has incredible imagination (as displayed in most of her works), but I wish she could get beyone portraying her heroes with terrible backgrounds. She needs to use her imagination a bit more instead of recycling her old plots.

Summary: Now for a little something different!
Review: I had a great time with this book, not only with the story itself, a tragicomic/supernatural romance, but with the out-of-the-ordinary sarcastic repartee between Kyrian and Amanda, the protagonists. I have been really bored with the overblown, heavy tragedy and with the perky, yet goody-two-shoes heroines in a lot of romances lately (e.g., Amanda Quick, Christina Dodd), so this book was completely refreshing. Kyrian is hot and mysterious, Amanda is a funny and tough-nerved foil, and the secondaries, some introduced in "Fantasy Lover" (a prequel to the Dark-Hunter series) help the story along and also function as setups for main characters in later books in the series. This story also provides a gread roadmap to the world of the Dark-Hunters, so I recommend reading this before jumping into the rest of the series. One of the reviews below complained about this book being "completely predictable," but really, aren't all romances? :-) The story and dialog are fresh, the characters are sympathetic, and Ms. Kenyon's supernatural world effortlessly snags you and drags you in. I couldn't put it down!

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I started this book at 8:30pm and couldn't put it down, litteraly, I read straight thru the night and finished at 4:00am the next day! Ms. Kenyon brings you right into the story and doesn't let go unit the ride is over, twists and turns and suprises along the way keep this book going and the reader enthralled.
I have read a couple of her books and this was the only one that I had to read front to back in one sitting (with many different positions :)
I highly recommend this book and her other Dark-Hunter series.... it makes you want to be a squire just so you can be around these hunky characters!

Summary: Major letdown.
Review: Like many other reviewers, I went into this book with high hopes. I have a bit of a penchant for romance novels, but I was anticipating something at least a little deeper, and a lot less predictable. While Kyrian is a good character, and the author is very creative, I felt that the book went nowhere.

If you're looking for a touch of sweet sentiment with some semi-kink, this might be your cup of tea. However, if you want some depth and more story outside of the romantic angle, read some Laurell K Hamilton. She does it better.

Summary: What a disappointment
Review: After reading the reviews below, I was eager to delve into these stories by Kenyon. Boy was I led down the alley of disappointment. When in the first few pages the heroine in a perilous situation said "Wake up yummy leather guy" I should have put the book down. Unfortunately I suffered through the entire book in the hopes that the characters would improve. I liked some of the mythos Kenyon created, but her character are almost all idiotic, self-important, over sexed, and have the intuition of a rock.

In a nutshell if you like your hero's brooding and stupid and your heroine's dingy but indignant then these are the books for you.

Summary: I love this series.
Review: Bravo Sherrilyn, this series is excellent. But I'm reading this series backwards. Every good series that I start I do this. Julian is a Dark-Hunter, and Amanda is witch and a sensitive.I love these characters one is an ageless souless vampire and Amanda comes from a family of witches and it's funny because she wants normalcy in life, but when Julian attacks her thinking that she is Tabitha, her twin sister and handcuffs them together everything goes from bad to worse. I won't say anymore about the story because I think that you have to experience the story, I will only say that once you do read it you will want to read the series and enjoy all of the Dark-Hunters and how they find their true mates. I highly recommend this series, I'm already hooked because Zarek's story is al-ready pre-ordered. Read this book, you will enjoy.

Summary: Laugh out loud Hilarious!
Review: From the moment I read the words "Hey, wake up yummy leather guy!" I was rolling from laughing so hard. I absolutely loved the dialog in this book. Kyrian's sarcastic wit was terrific. It really gave the Hero a personality instead of the droning and boring HOT BOD FABIO WANNABE BRAINLESS HERO that is usually present in most romance novels. But Ms. Kenyon sure made this one stand out, even more so than FANTASY LOVER. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

Summary: Disappointing!
Review: I gave up on page 64 - wasn't interested in what would happen next. Very disappointed as this was my first Sherrilyn Kenyon romance and I expected something great. This book may not be for those wanting more realism to their romance story. Nobody talks like the characters in this book; they sound like idiots and all the sarcasm was too much to wade through and hope the story would actually become a story. I'll stick with my historical romance novels.

Summary: A Superb Sequel to Fantasy Lover
Review: Ms. Kenyon's talent as a creative writer shines in this book about an ancient warrior who sells his soul for vengence and a promise to protect mankind. Set in sultry New Orleans, this imaginative novel brings a facinating twist to the vampiric legend.

Ms. Kenyon does a great job of weaving the main characters of this book with those from Fantasy Lover, which is an added treat for readers of that book. She does a good job of making this book capable of standing on it's own, and not relying too heavily on an understanding of the events in its predecesor.

Both main characters, Kyrian and Amanda, are worthy of their roles, and I thoroughly enjoyed Amanda's wit. "Yummy Leather Guy" INDEED! :)

It's a job well-done by Ms. Kenyon and sure to keep the world of the Dark Hunters alive and well on book store shelves! I know I'm making room with hopes for more to come!
