Rating: Summary: Thrills and Chills You'll Love!!! Review: I have recamended this book to all of my friends and all of them have become as hooked on the series as I am. It's become kind of a game with us. We all try to get the new release before any of the others so that we can be the first to read it. We are all hooked! It's great reading with intriguing charecters and intense action. The main charecter, Anita Blake, has a wonderful sence of humer and a tallent for saying the wrong thing at the right time consistantly getting her into trouble that will leave the reader in stitches. A lot of the settings are grusome and written with a talent that draws the reader into the story, so Anita's sarcastic wit is a "light in the darkness" so to say. I have looked for other books like this book and I have not found anything that could compare. This series is one of a kind. I am egerly awaiting the next book.
Rating: Summary: Ugh...don't bother unless you have to Review: Too many perverted vampires and rape scenes. Oh, how the mighty have fallen....
Rating: Summary: Excellent reading for Anita Blake fans! Review: This book combines all the creepiness and all the joy of being single in one book. What can you say about Anita but she's definitely a modern woman with some 'different' tastes in men!
Rating: Summary: Intriguing and fast paced all the way Review: Ms. Hamilton once again delivers a great read. I read this over a weekend, so caught up in Anita's trials and tribulations (and romances) that I ignored the housework, my boyfriend AND my own writing. Although the many plot diversions can be distracting, I though the author managed to tie all the ends up by the finale. I hope her next book "Blue Moon" explores even more of the triumvirate situation. Jean-Claude is definitely a KEEPER. I will just die if she dumps him. But I'll still keep reading!
Rating: Summary: well... Review: Since The Killing Dance I have been wondering if I really want to continue reading this series. I would now have to answer YES!! Richard's attitude was understandable, and I personally would have chosen the werewolf over the corpse with fangs anyday! All in all, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one!
Rating: Summary: Rambo and As the Coffin Turns Review: I have an absolute passion for strong woman characters, and Anita Blake is a good reason. The pace of the series picks up with each book- Anita gets so deep in trouble so fast; in each chapter, she grows more violent, and more indifferent to her own capacity for violence. I rather wonder if LH can keep going, without making Anita into a human monster. So far, she is able to stop, to let someone see she is willing to kill, so he or she can back down from the challenge. Personally, I think her relationship with Jean-Claude will be her salvation; the situation with Richard can't be resolved, given who Anita is becoming. I want to see how the next one is handled. And where's Edward when you need him?
Rating: Summary: 90% great 1st two books better. Review: Laurell Hamilton seems to be making her major male figure Jean-Claude less powerful than her female is now. The real fun was in the first two books when it was a real power struggle. In this book the sub-plots were much better than usual, though Ms Hamilton is really geting a bit too Clive Barker goo/perverse. (Unless you really, really like a lot of it) I really dislike the other male/wolfman. He's a whiner. Wish she would get rid of him. However, this is one of her top three books. The various plotlines are terrific.I do keep hoping that something just a little different will begin happening as her books seem to be repeating themselves a bit. Still I love them.
Rating: Summary: Good Plot and Caracters: Its time to expand the Universe Review: I find Anita's world verry compelling. The "what if" of classic SF as it is practiced seldomly now days. The level and politics of the Vampires remindes one of the Republican Party.(?) The books up to now have covered Anita's life and loves but have given us only glimpses of the rest of the world. The Courts Farie' was one of my favorites. Extrapolation of Magic that realy works begs one question though (espically with the Lupo in such abundance), where are the American Indians. I do not beleive that they went gently into that good dark night if their magic worked.!
Rating: Summary: MUST READ BOOK, CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE. Review: STARTED READING SERIES WITH 'THE KILLING DANCE', AND COULDN'T WAIT TO GET THE REST OF THE SERIES. BURNT OFFERINGS, THE NEWEST ANITA BLAKE,VAMPIRE HUNTER NOVEL; DID NOT LET ME DOWN. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ADVENTURE. A MUST READ FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY MYSTERY, ADVENTURE, AND FANTASY WITH A TWIST.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not as good as some of the others. Review: I am a big fan, and I really enjoy Hamilton's series. I have to agree, though, that there were a few to many plot lines. The Warrick/arsonist/pyro maniac angle would have made a great book all on its own. Speaking of Humans First, what about Jeremy Reubans, from Circus, who founded it? My problems with this book, besides the tangled plot lines, were all of these powers. Anita's a necromancer. Suddenly, she has these all purpose powers for any occasion. Its getting a wee bit extreme, I think. Also, the constant weird sexual situations were unnecessary. The scene with Nathaniel in particular bothered me. Anita used to have a bit more modesty and self-control. I'd also really like to see Manny, Burt, and John Burke a little more. And how about Anita's family? I've got a ton of questions from previous books I'd love to have answered. I love the Edward character. Actually, I love all of her characters. They're all well-developed and believable. Although all of the novels are written from Anita's viewpoint, a prologue from Jean-Claude's view might be interesting.
