Rating: Summary: The Queen of the Trilogies Strikes Again ! Review: Nora Roberts is one of the few 'constants' in romantic fiction today. As an author, she paints vivid characters and sets a colorful scene in your mind where her story will unfold. Her books never fail to capture your interest from the first paragraph and hold it till the last sentence. Her trilogies are beyond compare. 'Dance Upon the Air' is the first of a new trilogy that we fans have been panting for. As she did with her 'Donaovan Legacy' novels, the backdrop here is witchcraft. Trust me when I tell you, when you've finished reading this book, you'll wish you knew where to find a local, practicing 'good witch'. Mia Devlin finds the completion to the 'circle of three' in new islander Nell Channing. She knows Nell is running away, but sees in her the promise of the future. As in all Nora Roberts books, or hero Zack Todd is big, brainy and beautiful. The perfect knight in a shinig sheriff's badge. You get immersed in the love developing between Zack and Nell, and intrigued by Mia's spell casting and 'calling up the wind'. Ripley Todd, sure to be the star of one of the two remaining installments share some of the wittiest and most biting dialog with Mia. Their all too brief altercations will having laughing out loud. I can, and have blindly recommended Nora Roberts books to all my friends without reservation, and 'Dance Upon The Air' is no exception. I can not wait until the fall release of the second book of the trilogy. Thanks again Nora! We can always depend on you !
Rating: Summary: A great, imaginative book! Review: This, the first installment in Nora Robert's Three Sisters Island Trilogy will satisfy any fan of romance fiction. Also, she will gain a new following because of the subject matter which is central to the story, namely witchcraft. We're not talking about old hags with warts on their noses here either! These are modern day women who live very modern lives, but also are practitioners of "The Craft." This novel is a very positive one for fans of Wicca, as there is often reference to the adage "Do no harm", as well as the women having to restrain from using their power for personal gain or when they simply know that they should let nature take it's course. Nell is a captivating character, seeking to find her own power, both as a woman and to her surprise as a witch. She finds her way from a loveless, abusive marriage to Three Sisters Island and makes new life for herself, but not without a visit from the past. The two other strong central characters, Ripley and Mia are well developed and in some ways more interesting than Nell, and I look forward to the next two installments to find out more about them. The novel is a bit heavy-handed when it comes to the characters swooning into the arms of handsome men, and that does seem out of character for their strength, but you'll find yourself rooting for Nell to find romance anyway!
Rating: Summary: Sizzle Review: The audiocassette version of Nora Roberts' "Dance Upon the Air" is a delightful experience. I enjoyed sharing my driving time getting to know Nell and hear her amazing story of escape and rebirth. Sandra Burr is a voiceover talent who does a great job with the female characters. Nell has an amazing sensitivity and delightful hopefulness, while being shadowed with haunting fears. Burr uncovers wonderful shadings in Norah Roberts' prose. As read by Burr, Mia is also a delightful character, a bit brassy and businesslike, contrasted to Nell's great sensitivity. Her assistance to Nell by taking a chance on a stranger needing a job demonstrates great kindness. Of course, Nell just happens to be an exquisite chef, which makes the fit as a cook absolutely perfect. Burr's Ripley is the least of the three in this recording, but has a real determination and thoughtful side as one of the island's law enforcement duo. Burr's male characters work less well as Sandra strains to get down into a deep register that flattens out some of the sensitivity and shadings of emotion that should be in Zack Todd's character. That said, it's still compellingly interesting, but would have worked more effectively to bring in a male voiceover talent to handle the guys. When Evan shows up, he basically sounds the same as Zack, other than for being a little more mean in his attitude. Perhaps more of a distinction between a New England accent vs. the California rich boy speech could have helped make a better distinction. Norah Roberts' story is a real delight as the Three Sisters Island becomes a real place for us. The description of the cliffs, the forests, the market, the town, the bookstore, Nell's kitchen and the flowers are entrancing. The audio version is an excellent addition for those of us who try to squeeze in time for one more book! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: A Fun, suspenseful, magical read! Review: This is the first book in Nora Roberts' latest trilogy. It's set on an island called Three Sisters Island off the coast of New England. The island is home to 2 women with a magical legacy in the past and future. Enter person number 3 (the 3rd sister) -- our main character. She is running from an abusive husband, has changed her name, and taken a job offered by one of the island's magical inhabitants. She has never heard of the legends the other two have heard of and only learns slowly about her own powers and her place in the legend of the three sisters. As a side note, each of the three books deals has one of the three key "sisters" as it's main character.
Though the suspense portion of the book was quite predictable, this was a lot of FUN to read. It's a keeper!
Rating: Summary: Pure Magic Review: Nora Roberts' books that involve both romance and magic are always my favourites. "Dance Upon the Air" is no exception. I can hardly wait to get my hands on the second in the series ("Heaven and Earth"). I read "Dance" in one sitting--that says a lot. Her characters are well drawn and the story is fantastic. Nell's plight--running from an abusive husband and building a new life for herself--blends seamlessly with Nell's discovery of her hidden legacy--witchcraft. Under Mia's guiding hand and Ripley's grudging assistance, Nell blooms and rediscovers herself--and rediscovers the joys of loving. I highly recommend this book--as I do all of Nora Roberts' books. If you like the combination of love and casting spells, I advise you to read "The Donovan Legacy," a 3-in-1 book about three hereditary witches and their loves.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Magical! Review: I recently finished reading this title, it was my first time too read anything by Nora Roberts. Absolutely wonderfull! Excellent read. The book portrayed good and evil with just enough suspense to keep the reader torn to each page. I read the book in two days couldn't seem to tear myself away, I love the way the author puts in just enough romance to keep you waiting and wanting more. The characters seemed real and true to life, it was almost as if I could envision the story coming to life as I was reading! A must have for any book lover.
Rating: Summary: An enchanting new trilogy begins! Review: "Dance Upon the Air" is the first book in Nora's newest trilogy, and it does not disappoint. I have been dying for book #2 to come out and it's finally almost time! Nell Channing has escaped an abusive and unbalanced husband, and comes to Three Sisters Island looking for some peace and quiet. Local business owner, Mia, offers Nell a job working in her café and a cottage to live in. Then Nell meets Zack Todd and despite her recent experiences, finds herself quickly falling for this handsome town sheriff. But Nell finds more than love on this quiet little island. She also discovers that she shares a very special connection with Mia and Zack's sister Ripley. With Mia as her friend and teacher, Nell begins to adjust to the fact that she is a witch and learns how to use her powers. Because Nell's going to need all the help she can get with the trouble that's coming her way! This is a lovely, fanciful tale, with a sweet love story and a healthy dose of excitement added to the mix. I found this book entertaining from beginning to end and you will too, so buy it today!

Rating: Summary: Another incredible book. Review: This was one of those fantastic books of Nora Roberts, where I lose myself in the writing. Roberts writes this trilogy with a strength not seen since her Born In Trilogy. I felt this book was made up of several different story lines, but instead of Roberts stuffing them into a readers throat at once, she allows them to gracefully develop and emerge as nescesary for the story. Nell Channing is a woman who grows as the story continues, growing in her knowledge that she is a witch. I would say this is an essential summer read!
Rating: Summary: The start of a wonderful seriers Review: This was an amazing book. Nell escapes her abusive husband, and arrives on Three Sister's Island looking for a quiet place she can continue to hide while she starts her life over. Ms. Roberts has again written some strong, lovable and hateable characters into existance. Her plots are always as storng as her characters and this novel is not an exception to the rule. This book is enjoyable, moving, and also had suspense. This was not a book I could put down, and when I finished I was glad that there was another in the series to pick up and read. I was not dissapointed.
