Summary: It was Great!!
Review: I ordered this book after hearing that Stephen King liked it. It was incredible. Neville is such a great character, and you really feel his pain. He is no longer a normal average guy. Now he's the outsider, the feared one. When he is in a tight situation, this book makes your heart race. When it is over, you feel like you know Neville personally.Read this great book.

Summary: Don't listen to them it's the best book ever written.
Review: This is one of the best books ever written. I like Dean Koontz's "the vision" and this one tops the charts. If you like vampire and end of the world books then this is the book for you. I don't know anyone in their right mind that would rate this book anything under five stars. If your not going to buy this book at least check it out at library. You have to read this book.

Summary: This book was cool
Review: This book was cool. It was just like a Night Of the Living Dead type movie but with vampires. the only thing i disliked about it were the short stories at the end. those i did not read but the novel itself was sweet!

Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK
Review: This was the first book I ever read. I was 13 & "The Omega Man" was on tv. I liked the movie & my father told me that he read the novel in the fifties. He went to the bookshelf & got it for me. I couldn't put it down. I read it in class. I read it instead of doing my homework. I read it instead of watching tv! When I was done I gave it to my best friend at school who also devoured it. It's a great novel, & it started me on a lifetime interest in reading.

Summary: great story of one mans twisted world
Review: this is one of the better books i've read in recent months. I enjoyed this book a lot. if you have read it i suggest watching either of the two movies based on it,THE LAST MAN ON EARTH with Vincent Price, and THE OMEGA MAN with Charlton Heston

Summary: Excellant book
Review: I love this book. Forget all versions of the films, including the upcoming one, this blows all of them out of the water. From beginning to end, Matheson hooks us into Nevilles world and we can't put the book down afterwords. The ending is still my favorite of all horror books.

Summary: Great story.
Review: I think the story and moral undertones in the book are incredible. My one problem with the book is the way Matheson wrote it. He, to me, seems to have written for a young adult audience. Granted when this was written, the deep bleakness in which it is written in caused a stir. Now, it just seems tepid. I would have loved it, if there was more character development and background of the downfall of civilization. The movie, "The Omega Man" is a classic and offered hope for some of the 'normal' survivors. So, which it is the movie, with it's hope; or the book with it's play on community morality? I don't know. Still, "I am Legend" is a terrific read.

Summary: The greatest zombie/vampire sf/horror man-alone book ever
Review: George Romero cited this as the influence for "Night of the Living" dead. If Matheson is responsible for the best zombie flicks ever, then he gets my vote. You can also see the influence on Stephen King, particularly Pet Semetary. Forget the Charlton Heston film adaptation, The Omega Man. Talk about loose, it damn near ripped the guts out of the thing. Matheson's book is almost unredeemingly bleak. It's pretty gruesome, frightening, funny, but it's gallows humour. It's really a study of isolation and insanity wrapped up as ghoulish horror. But then that's what horror is all about.

Summary: don't believe the hype
Review: My expectation were high after reading the comments by other authors, but after finishing the book i was extremely dissappointed. The book seems to aimed at young children and is too short to develop an interesting story line. I didn't care much for the short stories either.

Summary: The Best
Review: Richard Matheson has written a timeless classic of the horror genre, one that deserves a place next to Bram Stoker's "Dracula" and Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein". If you liked this book, you may want to check out his take on the psychological thriller, entitiled "Seven Steps to Midnight".
