Rating: Summary: first time with King's fantasty work Review: Eyes of the Dragon was the first fantasy book I've read from Stephen King. I've read a lot of his horror work, but never a fantasy. I was not disappointed in any way. THe book is a highly interesting story of a prince sent to kill a dragon. I read the book and was amazed at how well the book was written and how interesting the story was. It really goes to show how well King can change styles and still write well.
Rating: Summary: I love this story! Review: WOW!! I love this book. The story is a fantasy and King weaves a nice tale about good reigning over evil in the end. As in true King form the text is flowing and grips you from the beginning. There is a king, a queen, the princes, the king's advisor, dragons, battle, and one magnificent dollhouse! All is well until the king dies mysteriously and his son is accused of the murder. What will happen next? Will the prince escape his wrongful conviction? Read on, friends! Definitely one of my favorite King novels..
Rating: Summary: The Eyes of the Dragon Reveiw Review: This book was an excellent example of the way that Stephen King writes. The characters seemed real and I had a clear picture in my mind. The setting was neat back whn they had kings nd queens. Great use of imagination. You couldn't put the book down the book kept you hooked. There was always something that you wanted to find out or learn about. This book could easily be turned into a great movie. This was one of the best books I have ever read. I recomend this book toanyone who enjoys suspense and is a Stephen King fan...
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've read so far Review: This is the first book I've read by Stephen King, and I can tell you it won't be the last, although I'm not much of a horror novel fan. It's an amazing sort of fantasy that seems to have everything in it: the evil magaician out to destroy all, the unsuspecting king, the heroic heir to the throne, the jealous sibling, the true friends.... I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy novels. Stephen King also brings to light a lot of human thoughts and emotions, and the way he portrays them is so real, you'd think you were reading about yourself or somebody you know... And I do agree with King, Thomas is not really a bad boy after all.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Stephen King Book Review: "The Eyes of the Dragon" is one of the few--and best--fantasy novels Stephen King has written so far. It takes place in the kingdom of Delain where an old king (Roland) rules with his meek wife, Sasha, and two sons (Peter and Thomas). Lurking in the background is the king's evil magician, Flagg, who has been plotting the collapse of this family for years. First to die is Sasha, while giving birth to Thomas. King Roland and Peter succumb within days of each other--Roland dying of poison, and Peter arrested for his death and imprisoned in the top of a tower for the rest of his life. Finally, Flagg has his opportunity to rule vicariously through the youngest son Thomas. However, he never anticipated Peter to come up with such an ingenius plan to stop him, all the while confined to his cell. This is one of the first books I ever read by Stephen King, during my I-won't-read-anything-but-Stephen-King period when I was about 11 or 12. If you're reluctant to read anything by King for whatever reason (either he's too gratuitous or verbose, etc.), at least try "The Eyes of the Dragon". I don't read very many fantasy books, but this is one of the best that I have read. King does such a wonderful job of storytelling that it's hard to put it aside even for sleep. And for those of you who hate reading long books, this one is just under 400 pages (which is unusual for King), with some beautiful illustrations by David Palladini. Out of all King's books, this is still my favorite. I highly recommend it to everyone, not just King fans.
Rating: Summary: Really, Really good. Review: One of my absolute favorite stories of all time. I have read this so many times I can tell the story at a campfire. This classic good vs. evil saga has vivid characters and more excitement than a roller coaster. You will be instantly drawn in by the storytellers fairytale language and the colorful sights and sounds of this book. Magic and deception, murder and imprisonment, secret passagways and secrets kept, a story that will make you clap at the end. A book that is meant to be read aloud to friends and family. Stephen Kings only attempt at fantasy is a huge hit. Look for an animated feature movie in the years to come. (no release date yet.) As luck would have it, (Ben Stadd would understand) there is no audio book as of yet. This would be great by the fire on a long winter night.
Rating: Summary: Through the Eyes of the Writer Review: This book was my first Stephen King book. I've heard of many negetive comments about him, and I'm sorry to say that many of which I totally agree upon with. The book was very lame. It had a terrible plot, a very undetailed setting, characters who act like they came from the "normal" world when they're suppose to be in an uninteresting very very unorginial fantasy kingdom, and a villain who should just destroy the whole kingdom. The book was very lame like I said once again. Please save your money, and don't bother.
Rating: Summary: A great fairy tale! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have read it so many times that I have almost worn it out! It's not my favorite King book (The Green Mile is) but it is definitely in the top five. It's not a horror story but a fairy tale, and when I want something absorbing but not "heavy" I reach for this book.
Rating: Summary: Thanks Stephen for another great book! Review: I really enjoyed this book. Love the style of storytelling. As usual, King's characters are real and the themes are interesting.
Rating: Summary: Powerful storytelling Review: First, like most of Stephen King's books, this is NOT a Stephen King book. In other words, it has a plot, characters, growing tension, etc. It is not some stupid horror novel. Second, Eyes of the Dragon is a straightforward and simple gift from Stephen King. It is the author saying "I have a story to tell, and I am a WONDEFUL storyteller, so here." The narration of this "fairy tale" is easy to sink into; you will quickly lose yourself in the rhythm of the story and madly flip the pages to find out what happens next. There are no great social issues, etc. that are addressed within. However, as a bit of escapism definitely allow King take you on the journey he's mapped.
