Rating: Summary: For New King Readers Review: King as usual does not leave us disappointed but for the die-hard King fan the characters and plot is not as expanded as others. A disappointment for me but still a darn good book.
Rating: Summary: Magic and Magician Review: "The eyes of the Dragon" is about an evil magician,Flagg, who killed King Roland of Delain and blamed the King oldest son, Peter, the victim. Thomas, the youngest son, was then crowned king! This is an excellent story full of magical making. If anyone love magical story of mythical tale such as dragon, wizard and magician, I would recommend this Novel!
Rating: Summary: Steven King weaves a spellbinding tale Review: This book is a must to be read aloud to children over the age of nine. King presents the story in such a way that the listener is entranced by what is being revealed. Forshadowing keeps the story suspenseful and the book is filled with pieces of wisdom that are best passed on in just such a way as this. As the tale unfolds the reader will find themselves racing to the finish; feeling the same urgency that Peter feels in his attempt to right a terrible wrong and save his kingdom from disaster
Rating: Summary: Predictable and boring Review: Either his name is written on the cover of this book by accident, or Stephen King has really just evolved into another bland teller of boring fairy tales. "Eyes of the Dragon" is about as predictable as possible. It's a 'typical King' in that it takes a little long to get to the peak, but it offers no great suspense or even anything else of interest other than that. I can hardly remember anything of the plot. Strangely enough, I feel myself longing for the times that King still wrote his short stories/novellas. Oh well.
Rating: Summary: Flagg is one of the best villains in all of literature. Review: Be it The Stand, The Dark Tower series, or this book (yes, I think the wizard Flagg and Randall Flagg are the same person. I won't get into my reasons.) Flagg just makes you root for the good guy that much more. He is, quite simply, the literary personification of evil. I challenge anyone to come up with a more compelling bad guy. Oh, and whoever says King can only write horror novels is a fool. The only reason this isn't five stars is that, like all fairy tales, the ending is predictable.
Rating: Summary: A show of versatility, but not as meaty as most Review: King delves into a completely different style of writing for this one. It works, and works well, but Eyes of the Dragon failed to hook me as most of his books do. Perhaps a great intro to the master for younger readers, but the depth of character and treatment and pacing of (usually uncomplicated) plot was just not there with this one. So, while unique and respectable, perhaps the uniqueness itself make my consider this one of the more mediocre King novels. And that's still saying a lot, as King is my all time favorite and never publishes a dud.
Rating: Summary: Flagg kills Roland where Peter is accused and Thomas is king Review: A wizard named Flagg kills Roland the king and his older son, Peter is accused, where the younger son, Thomas is king. Flagg is now in control of the kingdom of Delain. This story is really entertaining and fun to read. It is very fast paced. Of all the King books, this stands out the most due to its story. Very energetic.
Rating: Summary: This is Stephen King's greatest novel yet Review: The Eyes of The Dragon is a refreshing twist from Stephen King's other novels. Written especially for his daughter, he wanted to make this book sort of like a fairytale with one final change of direction in the end. I found this new style of writing for Stephen King very effective, and I hope to find other books where he tries other styles. Though the beginning of the story is very slow, the end definitely makes up for it. This story takes place in a kingdom called Delain where scandalous events unfold, leaving a young prince to rot in a dungeon. This setting is also a nice change because it adds to the sense of a fairytale. King also narrates a lot of the story with questions, adding suspense to the reader. He also gives seemingly futile details in the introduction and later recalls them, giving the reader a sense of dèja vu. This story is well written, and I really believe that it is his best novel yet.
Rating: Summary: A Stephen King novel with a different twist. Review: I've watched many movies based on his novels and also read some of them before like the Langoliers and The Stand, and they were utterly scarey. But this novel is definitely a twist from his other usual, frightening novels and stories. First of all, this novel is much like a middle-age fantasy story that is surprisingly fun and interesting to read. But second, it is predictable, unlike many of his other stories, you wouldn't know what would come next if you don't continue flipping through the pages. Nevertheless, this is a one of a kind work from Stephen King that shouldn't be overlooked.
Rating: Summary: VERY STRONG BOOK INDEED Review: I BELIEVE I WILL HAVE TO AGREE WITH ANOTHER REVIEWER IN THAT THIS BOOK NEEDS A SEQUEL OR MAYBE EVEN A LINE OF SEQUELS LIKE THE DARK TOWER SERIES, EVEN THOUGH STEPHEN KING WANTS THE DETAIL OF THE HAPPENINGS HE NEVER LOSSES THE CONCENTRATION OF THE READERS. HE IS TRUELY ONE OF THE GREATS IN WRITING FANTASY AND HORROR NOVELS. I READ TO TAKE MYSELF AWAY FROM THE CONSTANT HUSSLE AND BUSTLE OF EVER DAY LIFE, AND STEPHEN KING DOES THIS VERY WELL.
