Rating: Summary: Eyes of Dragons and princes turned to killers... Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. I know that it is not an average King book, but I also know why. He wrote it for his daughter, which explains why it is more like a faery tale than his usual horror. However, it is very expressive for a fantasy book written by a horror author. You have to consider that he is the master of surprises, he knows what his reader expects and he refuses to give it to them. Everyone hopes that Peter will be the one to get rid of Flagg, but that is not what King allows. His ending is really effective, and his resurrection of the importance of the "little guy" really makes the book a true work of art. I recommend this type of book to the audience that will appreciate the combination of unnerving and thrilling with the ever-popular prince and his heroic quest.
Rating: Summary: Dragon the Storyline Review: I was quite disappointed in the Eyes of the Dragon. I am an admirer of much of Mr. King's work. He has proven himself to be a compelling storyteller in genres outside the field of horror, with such classics as Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and the Body. However, this time he appears to have missed the boat. The story dragged on with seemingly little happening and even less suspense. The characters too carried little appeal and the book seemed to end somewhere in mid-air. The Eyes of the Dragon was not up to Mr. King's usual standards, and certainly not up to the fantasy high-bar set by Tolkien, LeGuin and others (although I doubt his intention was for this book to rival Lord of the Rings or even the Earthsea series). That having been said,I would welcome the opportunity to read another King novel in the genre. If King could bring the suspense and depth of feeling he has shown in other novels to the world of dragons and wizards,it could prove to very entertaining indeed.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This was one to the first books I have ever read of Stephen King and my mother has them all. I did not put this book down until I was done with it... and to go to bed but that doesn't count. I recomment that you read this book
Rating: Summary: The ultimate fairy tale with a twist Review: This book left me speechless. I could never put it down. I've always loved fairy tales and thrillers and this is THE book for that. This is such a great masterpiece; it takes you where only someone like Stephen King can.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Review: I feel that this book is the best book i have ever read. it was so enchanting and amazing that i couldn't put it down. it was just so good. to all those who gave this book a bad review, i have no idea what you're thinking. this is a truly wonderful book. the best book i ever read.
Rating: Summary: For children under seven Review: I sincerely doubt Mr. King wrote this book. Perhaps one of his children wrote this and he put his name on it to see if it would sell. It might be good reading material for children or the mentally deficient, but personally, I couldn't believe this was the same author who wrote The Dead Zone, Christine, The Stand, The Shining, It .... etc. In my opinion, King's most enthralling quality is his style. He's has a descriptive style and a way with words which keeps you in a trance until the book is over and done with. This book has none of those qualities. To be honest, ... it would make great kindling.
Rating: Summary: What the---? Review: Did anyone else who read this book do a double take back to the cover? Stephen King? I was very happily surprised! I'd like to think that he wrote this for his children. SK's literary talents obviously know no bounds - it's a fun read for anyone, even if your not a horror novel fan.
Rating: Summary: eye of the dragon Review: This book was a real stay up all night to finish book. I was completely enchanted with it. I have read most all Stephen King's books and I loved this one a lot. It was up there with "It" and "Needful Things" but totally different.
Rating: Summary: The best Stephen King Review: This book is excellent, and a very different book than Stephen King's others. He delves into the world of kingdoms and sorcery, and weaves a magnificent tale of intrigue and mysticism. Not his typical horror book, this page turner will keep you on the edge of your seat! It's the only book I've ever read twice on purpose!
Rating: Summary: Breadth of talent Review: Wow. A fantasy setting book from an author who primarily writes horror stories. This is a great book. I read this a long time ago when I was a wild and crazy kid and it got me into reading.
