Summary: This is one sequel as good as the first
Review: When I first heard Reliquary was coming out as the sequel toThe Relic, I said no way will be even close to as good as The Relic, but I was wrong. The sequel is good and well written. It improvedthe understanding of the first one a lot. In this one the characters are more developed and some new essential characters are introduced and described very well. For those of you who do not know this book is basically about a monster like thing from somewhere unknown. It was thought to be dead and killed in the original book, but now police are discovering horrible deaths in New York... This book was very good because of the characters. The NY police chief D'Agosta was the perfect grunt policeman. He knew how to do the dirty work to get the job done. He was perfect because he is built up for authority and intimidation. This book also improves on the original because you keep the same characters, like the museum worker Margo, and the Museum head Dr. Frock. Margo matures in this book to a smarter woman who discovers things she couldn't imagine. You also get great descriptions in this book about places. For example, you get an imaginary tour through the sewers with true homeless people. You also get to see all the old abandoned train stations and the true underground of NYC. However, my favorite descriptions are about the bodies they discover in the river and everywhere else. They could only be made a devil-like creature. This is by far one of the best books I have ever read because of the completely original idea and the attention to detail. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: Reliquary
Review: I LOVED this book. It was a good as the first one! If you liked Relic you have to read this one. Forget all you thought you knew about the Dr. Frock, Margo, and all the other characters. Everything takes an exciting new twist in this book.

Summary: I Like it Better than the First!
Review: I am about half way through this book and like it alot better than the first (though I recommend reading the first to get an appreciation of the characters). It is a lot quicker paced and a whole lot less predictable than the first. The underground society is so fascinating and makes one wonder if the authors have experienced the life first hand.

The characters are interesting and well developed. In the first book too many characters were thrown at you and it was difficult at times to distinguish who was who.

At this point in the book we still don't know enough about the main characters though. I would like more information about how the main characters (Margo, D'Agosta, Pendergest, Frock, and Smithback) grew up.

I am also glad that the authors decided not to use the same beast from the first novel but instead a variation.

Summary: As good as Relic!
Review: Being a big fan of Relic, I expected a lot out of its sequal that I was excited to learn about. I completed it and decided it was every bit as good as Relic. The New York subway and the sewer drains were as creepy of an environment as the museum was in Relic. One of the most interesting parts of this book was the descriptions of the "mole" people, like Mephisto. I would give this book five stars because it was extremely well written (far better than any Crichton novel I have ever read) and it made me never want to stop reading it.

Summary: Sometimes there is justice
Review: As the sequel to "Relic" this is also fast paced and has information that makes me want even more information, about the underground of New York City, the history of it, and the way it relates to us on the verge of a new millenium. The main characters could be fleshed out more, but they are still more developed than the average "thriller" cast. And most readers will be able to relate to the bureaucratic nonsense and enjoy the justice served to most of the worst offenders. Most of the writing is fast paced and the opening scene is unbelievably graphic, brilliant considering it takes place in total darkness, under water, muck, and sewage of New York water ways. That scene alone left me with a case of claustrophobia. There are characters to love and ones to hate and ones that you only know exist, but have no idea who or what they are until too late. This is a great escape book, you want to use it to escape, but when you've finished you're glad to escape back to the real world as we hope we know it.

Summary: Pucker marks on the seat from this wild ride.
Review: I just loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I wanted it to go on and on. I'm trying to find another book to satisfy my hunger the way Reliquary did.

Summary: Another scare!
Review: I saw this book at Walden Book Store and I had to get it. Again, another great scare! But I liked the firt one better. I mean this is a great novel to read but the Relic, I will never forget when I first read it. So people, it is okay to read the novel if you want to, but believe me, you will think the first is better. The first is always better.

Summary: Don't Take the Subway
Review: As with anything, the sequel has a hard time living up to the original. This is true for RELIQUARY. However, I was quite reminiscent of Margo and D'Agosta from the new story. They still held their own against an old, but new, threat and I did find myself gripping the armrest a few times. I became a bit jaded with the mole people underground, but was not dissapointed with the climax of the story. I think it would be wrong to say this sequel did no justice to the RELIC. You should feel at home back in New York City with Preston and Child's monsters to welcome you.
