Summary: Great book! Keeps you on the edge of your seat with suspense
Review: Reliquary is a fantastic book that will not allow you to put it down. From page one, the authors grab you and won't let go. Like most of the Preston & Child novels, this one is a fairly fast and easy read. Don't worry, if you have not read The Relic, still pick up Reliquary, you will not be disapointed!

Summary: A finely crafted thrill ride.
Review: There is nothing more satisfying than wading into a big thick book that is expertly crafted and perfectly designed for entertainment and escapism. Lincoln and Child are a helluva team and this book, along with RELIC, does not disappoint. These guys know what they are doing and they do it very well. With just enough research to make the incredible credible, they have crafted a dark thrill ride that straddles the fence between suspense and horror. This book reads like a blockbuster and it's a wonder it hasn't made it to the big screen yet. This is a definite 5 star novel.

Summary: Good...but NOT as good as the FANTASTIC 'Relic'
Review: After reading 'Relic' I couldn't WAIT to read anything by Lincoln & Child--ANYTHING. With 'Mt. Dragon' they served up a pretty good and scary story about a Bio-Lab in the desert that was actually really fun to read and to recommend to my friends as well. Then came along 'Reliquary' a SEQUEL to one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE thrillers. I nearly cried knowing they had seen fit to fill that void in my reading mind...unfortunately 'Reliquary' wasn't nearly as entertaining as 'Relic'. I absolutely HATE saying that since Lincoln & Child have become two of my favorite authors. At one point I actually stopped reading this book, which was 100% different than my experience with 'Relic' because I couldn't get ENOUGH of that book. It pains me that I have profaned these two incredibly talented authors, but aside from what this may do to their feelings, I'd be lying to myself and others if I gave this book the highest rating that it could get, and as good as it actually IS, it just wasn't as compelling as 'Relic'. If you enjoyed the original, you pretty much owe it to yourself to read it and judge for yourself (I have a friend who insists it is better than 'Relic') because I am not the voice of everybody. I must admit that I have enjoyed EVERYTHING I have read by Lincoln & Child, including 'Reliquary' and found that 'The Ice Limit' was one of my favorites (the ending is a total shocker--TRUST me). All in all if you are looking for some action/adventure novels that are a cut above the rest out there, Lincoln & Child fits the bill. Give 'em a try and if you haven't read anything by them, do yourself a treat and read 'Relic' TODAY. Simply put a fantastic novel.

Summary: Terrifying
Review: No, it's not as good as 'The Relic' as everyone isn't tired to say. But it's very close as I must add. 'The Relic' was wonderful, so it was very hard for the authors to write another one with the same topic and make it new. But they did. The descriptions of the underground and the people living there is very interesting and not exaggerated. It's real!

As one already said, if you wanna have at least one reason to read this, it's because Pendergast is there again.

Summary: A good sequel
Review: I liked Reliquary and Relic about the same. I liked the monster in the first book better though. If you've read Relic, read this book. If not, read the other one first.

Summary: Good Read!
Review: I didn't think this book was as good as Relic, but then again, how could it be. Relic was an EXCELLENT read and I don't think any sequel could have touched it. Reliquary is a good read though and it has some twists and turns in it. I recommend it if you're looking for a suspenseful, entertaining story.

Summary: Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the museum..
Review: "Relic," a dark, twisted tour through a museum stalked by terror, is a book one would imagine would be difficult to follow. Does "Reliquary" do this successfully? Yes... to a point.

This time, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child take us on a horrifying subway ride, past underestimated homeless "moles," a rabbit's warren of black tunnels, and a frightening continuation of the first book's monster story. "Reliquary" is a relief in that it doesn't suffer from "sequelitis," that "deja vu all over again" feeling that most sequels seem to have. There's no rehashing of the original story, here. "Reliquary" goes where "Relic" was afraid to, and with enjoyable results.

My quibble with "Reliquary" is that it isn't quite as tight as "Relic." The plot seems to meander a bit more, and I prefer the museum setting of the prequel. The writing, however, is top-notch (as expected), and it's a sign of the writers' talents at characterization that I felt as though Margo, Smithback, Pendergast, and the rest of the returning cast were old friends of mine. The authors hint at a promise that these characters will feature in future books, and I would love that. I look forward to it.

All in all, "Reliquary" is a satisfying and worthy sequel to "Relic." Given some of the plot twists and differences between "Relic" and its unfortunate silver screen adaptation, it appears that Paramount couldn't make "Reliquary" into a movie without running into some serious continuity errors. Of course, looking at the first film, it doesn't seem like Paramount was very concerned with that to begin with, so I'll just have to hope that they don't get their grubby mitts onto "Reliquary." The world doesn't need another movie like Paramount's "The Relic." More books from Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, however, are more than welcome. :)

Summary: A great sequal to a great beginning
Review: After reading the relic, I knew that the story was unfinished. Later, after reading reliquary, I was surprised at how Preston and Child brought back the same characters in a similar situation. Reliquary is a mystery story as well as a horror. It kept me interested even after I had turned the final page. Every time I read it I find something that I didn't notice the first time and that hints at the twist which happens at the end.

If you want a book that scares your pants off, and if you loved the Relic, this is the perfect book for you

Summary: Suspenseful
Review: The Reliquary was a great book. If your'e looking for a suspenseful, fascinating novel about the underground of New York City. Most of the facts surrounding the mole people of New York City are true, so it made for an excellent read. Unfortunately I never read The Relic, so i'm not getting the full effect of the book and its meanings. I definately recommend this book.

Summary: I think I liked it....
Review: Now this is a little odd. Loving the first book so much, I grabbed this book as soon as I could, and after re-reading Relic to get my feel for the characters back, I dove in. By the next morning, I had finished, and was a little confused. Did I like it? I honestly can't answer that. All my favorite characters were back (especially the lanky reporter Bill Smithback, who was sadly ommited from the filmed version of the original book,) and the plot once again took z-grade monster movie plot and made it respectable. It had some things that surprised me, and also had some social commentary. But again, my feeling at the end were vague. Admittedly, the book was hectic, with Smithback seperated from the main group for most of it, and the ending was so frantic that I had to read some it twice (an oddity for me - I'm the sort of person who can watch the most surreal movie and get it first time round.) But out of the mixed feelings, I still believe I liked it. Even if I can't admit it to myself.
