Rating: Summary: kept your interest from the first page through the last page Review: I enjoyed "The Relic" and didn't know to expect with "Reliquary". I was pleasantly surprised. I thought this book was even better. The level of detail and suspense was superior to that of "The Relic", which was first-rate. The authors kept your interest from the first line. As with thir first novel, the ending was mind-bending. I thought it was a combination of "The Alienist", "Waterworks" and " Jurassic Park". If you love medical/police/science fiction you'll love "Reliquary"
Rating: Summary: Reliquary: A Great Sequal!! Review: I just finished reading Reliquary. This book is great! It is definately on my list of my top 10 favorite books. If you read Relic, you have to read Reliquary. Once again, Preston and Child have proven that they are masters of thriller/horror novels. Those of you who read Relic will enjoy seeing the return of Margo Green, Bill Smithback, Lieutenant D'Agosta, and the ever-so-cool Special Agent Pendergast. The plot is definately an interesting one: a potential race of mini-Mbwun murdering the underground homeless and some "surface dwellers" of Manhattan, and putting the city in the cold grip of fear in the process. Several of the underground settings are fantastic, and will leave you thinking about what is really going on beneath the streets. The incident with the subway train will make you think twice the next time your train stops in the middle of a tunnel. While reading, see if you can figure out who the "Mr. Big" of the creatures is; I did. Reliquary has it all: mystery, thrills, suspense, horror, action, and one helluva surprise towards the end. This book is a must for all of you dedicated thriller readers out there
Rating: Summary: DON'T SLEEP IN THE SUBWAY Review: Like "The Lost World" another great sequel. This is your vacation book.
This really gets into the story of "THE RELIC" and explains all
those loose ends. It will scare and entertain you. Don't wait for the paperback.
Rating: Summary: Realistic, but a real snore fest. Review: When I read the first relic book, and the summary for the second book, I really wanted to get it. When I checked out Reliquary, and read it. I was horribley dissappointed. I thought it was going to be another scary Preston and Child book, with another Mbwun monster loose in New York city. It would have been a great book. But instead of a terrifying monster, they had a bunch of wrinkled up drug addicts in the underground. And the ending really disappointed me, it was really surprising though. Wait until paperback. Dont waste your'e money
Rating: Summary: AL()ENS MEETS THE LOST WORLD Review: Ok, I loved Relic, and all of the "jurassic" sagas, So I was quite excited about this book, and This book was amazing! It reminded me of the film AL()ENS, but with amazing elements of Jurassic park, with action in every chapter, it was like someone nuked me with emotion! The only problem was the somewhat lack of science. But read reliquary! It KICKS ass! and I mean it
Rating: Summary: Reliquary: Worth every penny!!!! Review: When I purchased "Reliquary," I was a little anxious that I might have been wasting my money on a hard cover and not waiting for its paperback. Well, being impatient certainly paid off. Buying "Reliquary" was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. It's a perfect blend of science, suspense, and intrigue. Preston and Child have written the perfect sequel: they have created a new "creature", they have successfully mixed believable science fiction with never before seen action, and most importantly, it's not necessary that you read "Relic" in order to understand its second. I just couldn't put it down! I even set aside my homework so I could read it non-stop. Preston and Child's first two books were an amazing feat in themselves, but the authors have really surpassed the hype surrounding "Relic's" sequel. With unbelievable settings underneath Central Park and characters teeming with life, "Reliquary" will have your stomach in knots and your knuckles turning white. As with many suspense books, you have a slight hypothesis as to where the plot is going, but "Reliquary" is an unguessable thrill ride. This sequel has you turning the pages at break neck speed, and with a surprising twist near the end, you too will see that buying "Reliquary" is definitely a beneficial expenditure to add to your weekly splurging
Rating: Summary: Preston & Child have done it again! Review: Reliquary is a thrilling and suspenseful sequel to the Relic. Amazing and insightful details of New York's underworld leaves you wanting more. Wonderful, true-to-life charactes, old and new, make this a real winner! Therese Belisl
Rating: Summary: -> Reliqary Review Review: Reliquary is none other of that of The Relic if you are expecting alot of inside about The Relic creature you may be mistaken. Reliquary goes more indepth into the secrets that lie in underground Manhatten where "Moles" aka Homeless people live, eat and learn. I do not want to go that far into the book as the hole point in reading a book is to find out. But I will state that I enjoyed the book and both The Relic & Reliquary were interesting and fasinating. I cannot wait for the motion picture sequal Reliquary. If you were interested in The Relic and want to find out what acctuly created "The Relic" you should pick up the sequal to Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child "Reliquary"
Rating: Summary: Sequel is no "Lost World!" Review: This is of course a good thing. Lost World by Michael Crichton, while a good book, was too much of a rehash of the first book [Jurassic Park]. Reliquary, however, is as new and as innovative as it's predecessor. Lincoln and Child's enthusiasm for their work is exemplefied in this book to a degree higher than in RELIC, a feat I believed impossible. Our favorite characters are back, Margo, Frock, Pendergast and the rest, but the new characters are just as intriguing as our old favorites. Case in point is Hayward, a street savy ex-DOT cop that saves the day, at first it seems as though she is a distasteful token female tough-person, that many authors feel the need to include ("It's proactive! Tee-hee"), but Hayward turns out to be as intriguing a character as Pendergast did. The plot of Reliquary is carefully, intelligently deployed, and completely fresh. I was afraid that it would suffer from "sequelitis", however, Preston and Child are so innovative and creative, that at times they put Crichton, Clancy and King to shame. If you haven't yet read RELIC, do so, and a couple of hours after you start you will be ready for Reliquary
Rating: Summary: I WANT IT! Review: I've read Relic (And loved it!) and in the end I got a 4-page preview. My jaw dropped... Relicquary. I went on the net to get more info and found out it would be out this year, so a few days ago I went up to Chapters bookstore (sorry Amazon) and typed it up on their computer... May it said... out in May! I had the money with my and tried to find it, no luck. But I still had hope! I rushed around to get help and when I found it (sniffle) and she said..... she said it was not in stock! I WANT IT
