Rating: Summary: The Outsider is near... Review: I now wonder what it is that my dog is barking at in the middle of the night... The book was great! I read it in 2 days, and I'm 12(13 in a month)! Einstein is a cute and humorus character. The couple is good and deeply made. The hitmen is the perfect character to add a twist or two. The attorney is so willing and daring. And, the Outsider is creepy and makes you feel pity at the same time. Well done Dean!(This was my first Koontz book and I intend to read Hideaway next)
Rating: Summary: A sequel - OR ELSE Review: I am currently listening to the sequel to Fear Nothing, and enjoying it thoroughly. But that story can't touch Watchers. Nothing can. PLEASE PLEASE, Mr. Koontz, give us a sequel!!! How many years do we have to wait? How many horrid movie attempts do we have to watch? If you won't write a sequel, could you at least do an unabridged audio? WARNING: DO NOT rent any movies (there are 3) based on this book. They all suck unimagineably. If you don't believe me, keep reading the reviews. If you MUST see one, get the 2nd one. I think it stars Marc Singer. I can't believe there were people that didn't like this book. I hope I never meet any of them. I wouldn't like them, and I'm sure they wouldn't like me (or my dogs). There has never been a better book written than this one. At least in 50 years of voracious reading, I have never found one.
Rating: Summary: Good premise is wasted in Watchers Review: This isn't Dean Koontz's worst novel, but it is a runner up. The only major confrontation with the outsider was at the end and it ended quite abruptly. For a much better book of of this type of premise, read Fear Nothing and Seize the Night, second and third best of Koontz's novels behind only Phantoms.
Rating: Summary: it catches the mind and holds you spellbound to the end Review: I first read watchers a few years ago during a time of recouperation, and was caught in spellbound till the end, after that i think i have just about read everything he has written, and still keep an eye out for more, out of all his books, my favorites are THE BAD PLACE,---DRAGON TEARS,--MIDNIGHT,--AND STRANGERS. THESE ARE THE ONES THAT REALLY GOT TO ME. BUT I REALLY THINK HE OUT DID HIMSELF IN TWILIGHT EYES. the things he saw and really couldn't do anything about untill he hooked up with the carival show. i think that one will be a classic. too bad you can't make a movie out of that one.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: Koontz has done a lot better. I'd recommend "The Bad Place" or "Hideaway" as examples of his best horror writing.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME-plot, scenery and ending!! One of the best!! Review: This is my favorite book. I am a confessed animal lover but the depth of the story is what caught me. I read this book in ONE DAY!! I then turned it over to a friend and I still haven't gotten it back. She wants her Mom to read it because she wants to cure her of being a BOOK HATER! It deserves TWENTY STARS!!! Perfect for long trips or a boring stay at a inlaws house. Eintein and the Outsider will keep you company. I would talk more about the story but I'd hate to give up even one ounce of surprise! Enjoy...
Rating: Summary: Best book I have ever read! Review: I could not put this book down! I don't know if it is because I am such a dog lover, or if this book was just that good! This is the first Koontz bood that I have read but IT WILL NOT BE MY LAST! I fell in love with Einstein. What a wonderful concept - a dog that can communicate. How many times I have wondered what is going on in my dog's mind. I cried (and still cry) thinking about this book. I just wish the story could have gone on!
Rating: Summary: best novel I've ever read. Review: You refer to the prophecy of the one who will bring balance to the force. You mean it's this dog?
Rating: Summary: I don't really like it at all. Review: I just have to say one thing about this book....it SUCKED!!!!
Rating: Summary: I'm a little different than everyone else Review: but I think this is possibly the worst book Dean Koontz has ever written. The only thing remotely entertaining about he entire thing was the dog. There just was no point to the hit man guy. The female character ( forgot her name she was so shallow) was a complete wuss. The main character (Forgot his name too) had no meat, nothing. He was simply there so the book would have some plot. I do understand the plot though. It wasn't that hard or all that interesting. The government screwed up, made two super creatures, blah, blah. I know that is somewhat of an insult to Dean koontz because many of his stories involve corrupt governments: Dark River, Soul Survivor, and Fear Nothing. I love Dean Koontz and I appreciate his storytelling and literary talent which are in one word prodigious, but this one just falls short. I believe his most recent effort, Fear Nothing, is a much better version of Watchers. Yes, it doesn't move as fast and the description is sometimes a little tiring to the illiterate, but its plot, setting, and characters are on another level altogether. Another aspect that I found irritating about Watchers was its utter unbelievability. Dean Koontz does write some wild stuff, but he writes it in such a way that I believe his world no matter how bazarre. In Watchers it is the character relationships that suspends any belief that the events in the novel would actually take place. Watchers made Tale of Two cities look believable.
