Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazing! Review: Dean Koontz has taken a basic story idea and added twists and turns like I have never seen! This one is a must! A rare blend of horror, romanace, and mystery it is a thriller!
Rating: Summary: Was a good book. Would Gladly Read it Again Review: I picked up this book mildly interested in the summary on the back. I tried twice to read it but got bored and set it down. The 3rd time I started to read it I stuck with it and liked it a lot. I think this is a really good book and I recomend it to anyone. The only thing is that I found it a little hard to get into at first but once you do you won't be able to put it down!
Rating: Summary: Einstein is totally loveble, leaves room for a sequel. Review: The first time I ever saw Watchers was in my parents bookshelf. I could NOT put it down. The retriver is so loveble and gives a certain lightness to the story. The Outsider is a horrendous monster, but you end up feeling sorry for him again. The paid assassin is a nice side story, especially with his "gift". And with the end I think it leaves a good amount of room for a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Simply Endearing. . . Review: I never actually thought it was possible to generate some sympathy or even a miniscule of sympathy, or possibly garner any level of loyalty for someone. . . something that is in with out a doubt a monster. Initially I thought, what a terrible looking creature, with a terrible insatiable habit to commit evil. Dean Koontz in is usual fine way of incisive writing, makes known why this beast behaves the way he does, definitely not of his own choice. This beast didn't ask to be drawn this way, or even to volunteer to act as some kind of special government project. he has the same vulnerablitiy and frailty in his emotions that we as humans possess. yet, ironically it is his oversensitive nature that leads him onto this jealous rage to seek, kill, and destroy his cell mate, a dog housed within the same lab that has received all the preferential treatment that he did not, hence search kill and destroy this dog regardless of what the cost. It's tragic that this "beast" -although the appropriation of this title solely belongs to the men and scientist that created it- has to face the reality of anyone. . . anything, that doesn't fit into our standard mode of existence. I would have liked to have seen Dean arrive at a different conclusion, but nevertheless, I'll take the cards that have been dealt to me as a reader. Thumbs up ! I enjoyed the emotional ride.
Rating: Summary: Gripping Review: This was the first Dean Koontz novel that I read and I loved it. He always manages to draw you right into the story and make you either root for the hero to come out in one piece at the end, or feel complete loathing and comtempt for the villian. Brilliant characters, good and evil, and the dog adds a level of cuteness (of course without the dog there wouldn't be any story). Koontz can always deliver a good story and knows just how to keep the reader riveted. The only book of his I didn't like was Demon Seed, I just couldn't get into it, but this is an excellent book of his to start off with. Full marks for ingenuity.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful, original, compelling book. A definate must-read Review: Surely on of Dean Koontz's best. A book I never wanted to end! The idea was original and unique, and would appeal to all tastes. Surely there must be a sequel!
Rating: Summary: HIS ABSOLOUTE BEST - ONE BELONGS IN EVERY LIBRARY!!! Review: This one was my first Koontz book, too. I fell in love with it, and drove everyone in my house crazy, telling them they had to read it. (My mom finally caved in, and she even loved it!) That was probably 10 years ago, and Koontz is still my favorite author of all time. I even wrote to him before I entered the military - and got a PERSONAL response!! He's a warm-hearted person, and a wonderful author - I always rush to the store to get his latest books.
Rating: Summary: Exellent, an oustanding page turner!! Review: My geography teacher(Mr Little) recommended this book to me and I finally read it. It is the most intense, thrilling book I have ever read. I just loved the plot. I would recomend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: His best ever Review: "Watchers" was the book that got me hooked on Koontz. Although I have been disappointed by some of his work since this one, "Watchers" was by far the most entertaining and heartwarming novel he has written. As a dog lover, I still get choked up thinking about Einstein the Golden Retriever and believe my dog my be almost as smart. I borrowed this book many years ago when it first came out and have decided (after reading the reviews in Amazon) that I need to get one for my own library. DON'T judge this book by what you may have seen in movie form, they all sucked. Please DK, give us a sequel for the puppies.
Rating: Summary: How could anyone not like this book?! Review: I work at a bookstore and frequently suggest this as a read for my customers...they all come back raving about how great it was and could I suggest another (2nd choice-"Lightning"). I can't IMAGINE anyone not loving this book (if they don't, they must not like dogs or a good love story, and I can't imagine THAT either)
