Rating: Summary: Koontz's Best Book Ever! Review: This book is the best book he has ever written, and I am a huge Koontz fan, so I've read nearly all his books! The characters are so well developed that the reader feels close to them. The suspense is excellent. Koontz's description and characters create an overall story that is entertaining, scary, funny, sad, touching, and uplifting. An excellent read!
Rating: Summary: Not Really Plausible, but Enjoyible none the less Review: Dean Koontz has the magic ability to take a concept that sounds totally unrealistic, and write it in a way that it sounds like it could actually happen. He managed to do that with this book, making a super-intelligent dog and a perfectly-designed warrior with emotional rage issues entirely believable. The only not entirely enjoyable part of this novel is the hitman that sucks energy from his victims, who is portrayed badly. I reccomend this book to people who enjoy other books by Koontz, especially Mr. Murder. Creature and Guardian, both by John Saul, are also very similar and just as good stories.
Rating: Summary: The Best You Can Get Review: This is the first novel I ever read written by Koontz, and to this day I must confess that it is still my favorite. Indeed, it may very well be my favorite book of all time. The strength of the story, of course, lies with "Einstein", and his interaction with the other characters in the story. I'm not a dog lover by any stretch of the imagination, but I fell for this dog deeply. Koontz does a brilliant job of describing Einstein's feelings (read the book and this statment will make more sense, I assure you), so as you begin to view the dog as a human. It happens so gradually through the novel that you don't even realize it till it's too late. The main theme of this book is LOYALTY. Not just with Einstein and the other characters, but more so with the humans he comes into contact with. I'm not sure if Koontz is a dog lover or not, but he sure made one out of me! I have read this book more times than I care to mention, and each time I am still filled with the same emotions at the same incerpts on the same pages...This novel is indeed THAT powerful. Regardless of whether you enjoy pets or not, do yourself a favor, and read this novel.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Review: This Koontz book was my absolute favorite. I've read almost all the Michael Crichton books, and Watchers scared me more than any of them! Defenitley should read it. I study bioengineering, and this is the kind of thing that freaks you out with the possibilities of DNA manipulation.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Reading! Review: I received Watchers as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend's mother. She had read the book and knew I was an animal lover who would enjoy the book. Well, I did alot more than enjoy the book! It was excellent. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it scared the pants off me, and it still has me in awe. I have read Koontz books before, but this was by far the best. Anyone who loves animals and is a sensitive soul will appreciate the underlying ideas in this book. Hard to put down, so make sure you have plenty of time to devote to the intricate characters in this book. Happy Reading!
Rating: Summary: Unstoppable suspense and heartfelt emotion.... Review: I had never read Koontz before. All I knew was that he enjoyed something of a reputation as a "horror" author. All I knew about this book was that it was vaguely "about a dog". You can get more detail from the synopses and other reviews. All I'll say is that for lack of anything else new to read on a Sunday afternoon I picked this book up from a shelf in the garage, where it had lain ignored since someone whose tastes I don't particularly share had given it to me weeks before. To my delight and wonder, I did not -- COULD not -- put this book down and read it in one sitting through the afternoon and into the evening, oblivious to all else except the wonderful story and characters that were unfolding before my eyes. The best book I've ever read? Who knows. But I got my wife started on it the very next day, and I'll recommend it without reservation to anyone who loves animals, likes people, has a passion for life, and enjoys a rousing good tale.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever! Review: Watchers by Dean Koontz is te best book that I have ever read and that is the truth. Since reading Watchers I have read many other Koontz books (which have also been superb) but none of them were as great as Watchers. The plot cannot be criticized and the characters are loveable. Einstein was a superb character. The relationship between Nora and Travis was fantastic. The way all four of the main human characters (Nora, Travis, Vince and Lem) were brought together due to Einstein was superbly done. This is the best book ever! Even the Outsider character was superbly done. As brutal and violent as it is you still have to feel sorry for it. There are no words fit enough to describe how superb this book really is.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Book of Koontz! Review: I have read every Dean Koontz out there (I think) and I just loved this book! The characters were wonderful and Einstein was fantastic. This book scared me and made me cry. You couldn't help feeling sorry for the Outsider also. This book was very heartwarming and thrilling. His best so far! If you like Dean Koontz I think you will enjoy reading this book. If you are also a pet lover - don't pass this book up - you will love it!
Rating: Summary: Watchers Review: This book grabbed me right from the beginning. I absolutely fell in love with Einstein. When I got to the end, my boyfriend was leaving town for a month and I just waved goodbye because I could not put the book down. I first read this book in 1986 and have been giving it as a gift ever since. In fact, that's what I was doing today; ordering it for a friend. It's my favorite Koontz book, but don't bother seeing the movie.
Rating: Summary: Emotional Rollercoaster Review: Never has a book scared me and made me want to cry at the same time. This book is so great! It was quite an emotional rollercoaster. Dean Koontz made you feel all of his characters.
