Rating: Summary: big disappointment Review: This is the 6th Anita Blake that i read, i loved the previous five but this book is a big disappointment. It seems like Hamilton changed completely the personalities of her characters, Anita in particular who is betraying all her rules (sleeping with the monsters) and do stuff that she could have never done in the previous books but Richard and Jean-Claud too (what happened to our cruel manipulative master vampire? he suddenly started to care??). Only Edward remains cool as always and he became my favorite character in the series... There is also a lot less mystery in this book than what i got used to recieve from Hamilton and the plot isn't really thick.....Edward discovers who put the contract on Anita while she is too busy deciding who will share her bed Richard or Jean-Claud...why can't she get out and do some detective work like in previous books? I will read the next book Burnt Offerings because i already bought it...but if that book isn't going to be as good as the first 5 books, i will stop reading this series...too bad.
Rating: Summary: Well written!! Review: I just love the Anita Blake series. I can't wait untill Hamilton's next book. But still something is still bugging me about Anita. She has gone way over her head. I mean she went from a killer of monsters to a lover of monsters. Not that I blame her for sleeping with JC and Richard was pretty hot too. Now in this story we see a whole different side of Anita. I really enjoyed her in the first books, how she refused JC and how he kept coming after her. Now it seems that she has broken all of her rules. I hope Hamilton will change Anita back to her old ways in her next book.
Rating: Summary: The Ice-Woman Cometh (and Changeth!) Review: Tremendous series until -- well, this book! Why did Hamilton change Anita into a block of ice with only a 'killing' sense of humor? If it weren't for Jean-Claude and a couple of other characters, I'd probably stop buying this series - would Hamilton please get in touch with Anita as a female again? And please go more deeply into and focus more on Jean-Claude...he's as incredible (if not moreso) than Ann Rice's vampires -- and the vampires were what attracted me to this series to begin with (although I have nothing against any other kind of preternatural being, either! Just against a heroine suddenly gone un-sympathetic (and who needs a LOT more bed-time with Jean-Claude, in my humble opinion!) Still and all -- a great read and an excellent series (4 1/4 stars overall average through Blue Moon)! I've read every one!
Rating: Summary: anita blake rules!!!!!!! Review: This is the "best" series ever! I read "circus of the damned"first, then spent weeks scouring the book stores looking for the first two in the series! I am on pins & needles now waiting for my next Hamilton fix!! Hamilton can't churn them out fast enough for me. Jean claude is dreamy, and so is Richard. I can see what a hard choice Anita has. It makes me wish this soceity were real. I can identify with all the characters, and I love how tough Anita Blake is! This is a must read!! If you don't love these books, you are not all there!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: I have praise for this book as an avid reader. Review: I am extremely pleased with the direction this series has taken. Anita finally ditched that goody-two-shoes Richard forJean Claude. I feel that is time for Richard to grow-up. Anita could not have made a better chose than breaking her ''no sex with the monsters'' rule.
Rating: Summary: am i the only one? Review: is it just me, or is anita blake the most irritating character in this series? i am a big fan of these books, but i have to say,i like every other character, (even the villians) better then her. why does she have to be such a "tough guy"? why does she have to be the toughest person in a room full of monsters? let's be serious, (in a fantasy kind of way) she has nothing on a master vamp, or an alpha wolf, but time and time again she's either rescuing them or kicking there respective butts...(that is, of course, when she's not too busy trying to decide if she likes the "monster" enough to save it, or hate the "human" enough to kill him) ...and as far as the whole jean-claude/richard saga,...i wish they both would have told her to kiss off. she deserves to be alone with her cherished browning. (maybe laurell will start a new series sans anita).
Rating: Summary: They just keep getting better!! Review: I have read all the previous books to this series and they just keep getting better. I think this is the best one yet.The character development has been really good over the whole series and the supporting characters are terrific. However, this relationship thing is starting to wear thin. I was glad Anita finally slept with Jean-Claude, but she's still unsure. I guess it irritates me because I really don't like Richard. Oh well, I can live with that. The books themselves are a great read. I haven't been this excited about reading in a long time. You just about have to sit down and read the book all the way through without stopping. It's that good.
Rating: Summary: Dissapointing Review: Up until "Killing Dance" I very truly LOVED the Anita Blake Series. However, now I am severly dissapointed with the direction this book has taken the series. The actions (primarily regarding the Richard/Jean-Claude situation) committed by the female lead do not follow with the character that has been built up over the previous novels. Anita Blake exhibits a 'coldness' not seen before. If her relationship with Richard had to be dissolved, I'm sure there was a better way to handle it. This book has essentially soured my feeling towards the Anita Blake Series, in general. I can no longer say that I am a fan. I truly hope that future books repair the damage done by "Killing Dance".
Rating: Summary: WHOE!!!-WAY OUT THERE!!! Review: I have read 2 of Hamiltons books (killing dance & blue moon)& they were great.Fast paced & intense, made a true reader out of me.I don`t hardly ever read unless it`s one of these books.KillingDance was the best untill I read BLUE MOON, whice is the best...so far.(I know she`ll blow me out of the water next time)
Rating: Summary: Anita Blake kicks *ss again. She's got style, and ATTITUDE! Review: I first discovered "Killing Dance" by blind chance/luck. I read it in one day, read it twice more (and was pretty bleary-eyed by then), ran out and bought the previous books in the series, then read each one over and over several times. Then suffered withdrawal symptoms waiting for the next... and the next. It is more likely Anita would end up with JP because, noble as she is in her own strange way, she nevertheless has more darkness in her nature than light, considering what she is (a necromancer), what she does (executes vampires), the parts of her humanity she has had to give up to survive, plus the early, vividly remembered childhood trauma of losing her mother tragically (versus after a long, slow illness). If things were different it would make more sense that she'd go with Richard. But the world isn't a safe place, and she understands JP more than she does the Boy Scout (cute though he be). Talk about a hot ending. I needed a smoke after that. And I don't even smoke! This was the best of the bunch. The 2 after were a bit disappointing in comparison. Anita Blake is funny, sexy, tough, mouthy and flawed. I love that! I also love the way Hamilton writes so you can see the action, and you can feel the chill and the gut-deep fear, along with the characters. And what characters. The main cast is wonderful, then she adds delightful and/or interesting individuals like Jason, Larry, Willie, Raina, Edward (I'm sorry but I don't see him as part of the main cast), Rhonda, and so many others. I even found Wheelchair Wanda to be quite a fascinating character. Is there a 7 Step Program for Anita Blake addicts that I can join?
