Rating: Summary: Good character development, but Anita is limiting herself. Review: Someone handed me this book first, and I have since been prowling, looking for the others. I finally had money and location, and bought everything to bookstore had - all but Guilty Pleasures, and have read them in one swell foop - 5 days of getting as much sleep as Anita usually does. :) I won't say this book is the best in the series - I missed the police investigation, even tho I had gotten a bit grossed out by it all. I missed her interaction with her job... but then I thought, and the action all takes place within 3 days. Not unreasonable, especially since the cops know that she is being stalked. Anita's necromantic abilities seem to be growing in direct proportion to how much she pushes them, but she hasn't seemed to realize that yet, even though it has clearly given her more confidence in dealing with the undead in all ways. I think she needs to find a teacher she can respect, and soon. I desperately hope that this is not the end of the triumvirate, in any sense. Ms. Hamilton surprised me in which choice Anita made first, but I hope she will not disappoint me - there is no reason for Anita, Jean-Claude, or Richard to restrict themselves to a monogamy that hurts all of them. Anita grabs at life with both hands already - WAKE UP! woman, and LIVE. The condoms were an EXCELLENT touch, and delightfully sexy as hell!
Rating: Summary: I cant wait for the Next One! Review: I love all of Laurell"s books.A friend gave me one as a gift & I'm forever in her debt.As fast as the books hit the store I buy...These are the books you keep in your library forever.Keep up the Great Writing Laurell. We love Anita Blake.
Rating: Summary: Anita just keeps on kicking ass Review: I know I already submitted but I just wanted to add that all the books in the series has shown a new side of Anita. I am glad that she has gotten together with Jean-Claude, they make a good couple :-). Even though they are opposites, there is still that respect and a little fear as far as each are concerned. Her unlikely friendship with Ed (which left off with her deal with him) leaves for in interesting and unlikely collaboration. I would be very interested in seeing another sort of connection between her and Richard. Will Anita be friends with the Pack, will her powers of a necromancer become stronger and more potent (we already saw it growing in Killing Dance). All these questions will be answered by Ms. Hamilton, I think she has a lot more in stock for Anita than we cannot image. I will be strapped in and ready for a turbulent ride with the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter crowd.
Rating: Summary: In the right place at the right time Review: I was first introduced to Guilty Pleasures at the library. I thank the person who misplaced it. I was hooked from the first chapter. For a long time I haunted the library looking for another book by Laurell but nothing. Again by chance, I went to my bookstore searching and accidentally found a copy of Circus of the Damned. I then realized that I was looking in the wrong places all along. I finally found all her Anita Blake books and bought them. I am an avid fan(somewhat fanatical). I have been haunting the the bookstores looking for the next installment since the Killing Dance. Now I know that another one is due out soon in May 98, I will be waiting impatiently for it to land in my bookstore. I hope she keeps them rolling out as fast as she can. Thanks Laurell for creating this exciting and intoxicating series.
Rating: Summary: The girl finally makes her choice!!! Review: ALL RIGHT!!! go Jean-Claude!!! Not that i don't love Richard <who wouldn't lust after a gorgeous alpha male?> but he couldn't be the man for anita that Jean-Claude or <ahem> Edward can be.....speaking of Edward, i'm dying for the next book so i can read about this "favor" that he's going to call in on Anita.....hmmm.....but wow, sex after 6 books....the vamp has been patient...the only thing for me was that, i understand watching Richard go all furry on top of her would be slightly disconcerting, but to completely blow to hell all her morals and will-power for some amazing sex in a hottub?? not that i'm complaining, but it did seem kind of sudden and unexplained....Anita's starting to get confused and a lot more powerful...not a good combination, and then of course there's the triumvirate.....and Richard?? he still loves her, but will he ever forgive her?? i'm eagerly awaiting the next book in may.....keep writing Laurell!!!!
Rating: Summary: Best book in the series yet! Review: I am so glad that Anita chose Jean-Claude over Richard! I wanted them to get together ever since Guilty Pleasures. I wonder whats going to happen in the next book. Can't wait!
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: Just when you thought Anita Blake's life was as complicated as it could get, someone puts a price on her head. And that's not even the biggest problem in book! Jean-Claude, Anita, and Richard bring their uneasy connection to a new level, which does nothing to diffuse the tension among them. The Pack raises the stakes on our pacifist lycanthrope, forcing his hand (paw?) in another arena. The Council that governs vampires chooses Jean-Claude for a bold, new experiment in public relations. Anita finally gets upsets the single deadliest she knows, "Ted Forrester." And you thought you had problems. Miraculously enough, all comes to its stunning, if logical, conclusion, and left me eagerly awaiting more! How will Richard do with the Pack? What will Jean-Claude do about the Council's new initiative? Will Richard EVER speak to Anita again? Will Anita survive her next run-in with the mysterious Ed? And for those who have declared the Jean-Claude/Anita/Richard triangle resolved, I think Ms Hamilton may have a few twists up her sleeve. There is that voicemail message from daddy, after all. Tune in for the next installment! I will.
Rating: Summary: Ms. Hamilton's books just keep getting better and better. Review: I must say I am so pleased with this book, it's so good. It is finally time that Jean-Claude got some attention for bieng himself, and that's his best way. Sorry Richard!! You had your chance. I cannot wait for the next book!!!!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful fantasy/horror for vampire lovers everywhere! Review: The Killing Dance is a wonderful book that must be read! Anita's character and love life abound as readers will get more in tune with what makes her tick. Plus, more Jean-Claude, who should win Anita's heart for his intelligence and intrigue (Richard=wimpy)! Anyone who loves vampires, fantasy, romance and mystery should check this one out. I'd give it a 100 out of 10 if I could!
Rating: Summary: A very powerful and intriguing book Review: I loved it. The thought of Jean-Claude, Richard, and Anitaworking together with their powers is sensational. I don't think I canwait til May. END
