Summary: An incredible book (from the right point of view)
Review: After having seen several readers rip Memnoch the Devil to shreads with scathing critiques, I decided to throw in my two cents. As with all Anne Rice books, MTD is highly descriptive, well written and enjoyable on many levels. The similarities end there. Most readers are either loyal fans, who will invariably give the 5 star rating, or those who liked one (or some) of her books because of a common element that they feel a new book (Memnoch, for example) lacks. Thus, one star ratings. I have realized and come to terms with the fact that each of Mrs. Rice's books will be a vast departure from the previous work, normally following a sort of loose "theme". Interview With the Vampire's predominant theme was GOTHIC. It was dark, brooding and intellectual. The Vampire Lestat was a MOVEMENT/ACTION novel, as always, lots of stuff happens with Lestat around. I interpreted Q. of the Damned as the MYTHOLOGY book, a vampire history lesson. Tale of the Body Thief seemed to embody MYSTISICSM. Memnoch embodies RELIGEON. When you cease to evaluate the book on the basis of it's predecessors and read it as a tale in it's own right, it's 'value' is evident. An interesting, bizzare treatise on religion and Lestat's most ambitious adventure. The book was good because it was an excellent piece of literature. However, if you want more of the same you should look for a different author. Anne is a dynamic wordsmith, who incorporates some comon elements into an ever-changig theme. A worthy read, but expect something different.

Summary: Anne lost me
Review: I was disappointed with this book, if only because the other Vampire Chronicles have such great storylines. Although I did enjoy reading Anne's interpretation of God and the Devil, I think both Lestat and the reader suffer. The story of Creation and such drag on and on while the ending of the book is too short and too weak. I'm left wondering what the next Chronicle has in store for Lestat...hopefully it's much more than this.

Summary: What's next from Anne- 'The Vampire Soap Opera!'
Review: This is a truly terrible book with a sprawling storyline not deserving of the operative word 'story'. It's Anne's way of seeing things, a lecture and a personal philosophy sneakily disguised as one of the Vampire chronicles. The characters are taken out of their coffins, dusted off and strings attached to their limbs and then they are made jump and jabber to a forgetful string of words entitled Memnoch something. Anne has truly lost the dark gift. If I could go back in time I'd give back the book and read the receipt instead. Indeed, what next, a vampire soap or a vampire sally jessie raphael, Anne is killing those that cannot be killed. Yipes! Wake up and read a decent book. Reply to me if you like. I'm certainly not afraid to defend my opinion.

Summary: No stars that represent zero
Review: We really don't need this. Watch as Lestat becomes a puppet in this story written on the back of a dollar bill by Anne (oh no, not again) O'Brien Rice on the way to the bank to count her wads. Bit by bit we see Anne Rice dig up Lestat's bones and reconstruct that which she dissembled in the previous two books (Body Thief, Queen). This book is what happens when a writer no longer has inspiration, you may liken it to 'Pavorotti' doing a version of Prince's 'Kiss'. I personally think Anne wrote this book because she re-discovered 'Religion & God' but why does Lestat have to suffer, I mean let's be professional here people. In writing this book she totally contradicts and may I say eradicates everything 'Interview With The Vampire' stood for and represented, for example Louis in Interview asking 'am I damned?', how can Louis be damned if there is no God that destroys him/it. And yet in Memnoch there are practically dozens of God's falling all over the place. Anne has removed all mysticism from the lives of the vampires she touches, now they have incredible mind sapping unearthly adventures 'every weekend' and go for coffee at 11 during the week in some plush hotel...what! Where are the dark evenings of boredom when all a vampire had was the crackle of the fire and a few words of contemptuous philosophical chat with another vampire to pass the time before the hunt, and if they did have an adventure it spanned centuries. Anne has refined the art of watering down the characters she so delicately created. Is there such a thing as 'Vampire Abuse'. Oh yes, the story of Memnoch : Vampire has girl, Vampire loses girl, Vampire regains girl...or was that 'Body Thief' , no that was Vampire has body, Vampire loses body....you get the idea. Read this book only if you have lost appreciation for 'Interview', otherwise it should be sent to Chernobyl. Anne, leave Lestat alone, please.

Yours, Angry.

Summary: Another Pulp Of Rice
Review: If you're an adult, this is a 1 star book; if you're a teenager, it's probably a 5 star book.

Summary: A Blockbuster of Vampiric Morals and Tribulations...
Review: Grab your beliefs and hold on tight!! Will the devil tantalize and sweep you up in a whilrwind of death, lost souls, and circus maximus of lies, sending you cursing God all the while. Or do you trust in the "Creator" and all his Divine wisdom and power to know all that is and all that is to come?

Either way we are unable to escape this feverish novel without losing our heart(and possibly our soul) to our Epic Hero, Lestat. A triumph once again for our fav Vampire Scriptor- Thank You, Anne Rice.

Summary: Great!!! Ideas on Heaven and Hell are interesting !
Review: This book and its ideas are laid out well and get the reader to face the possibilities of good and evil. This book attacks your mind, forcing you to confront your ideas of good and evil. This is a must read!

Summary: an entertaining throw on religion
Review: i have always loved books that played around and twisted religion to create or just make obvious different, often unlooked at facets of them. this book was no dissapointment. it took the often controversial, questionable, and sometimes laughable religion of christianity and put an astounding twist on it, sometimes making it appear that the moral roles of god and satan are reversed. a definite must read.
