Summary: Interview with the Devil
Review: I heard alot of things about this novel before I read it for myself (most were warnings about how boring it was), and unfortunately what I had heard was true. I love all of Anne Rice's vampire novels, and I still say all, because this book is not one of them. Sure Lestat is in this one, even my beloved character Armand makes an appearance, but they seem to be there only as a vehicle for the real story this book is telling "Tales of Heaven and Hell," or if you prefer "Interview With the Devil." My advice SKIP it! You don't need to read it to undrestand the sixth vampire chronicle, "The Vampire Armand."

Summary: DAMN INTERESTING !
Review: Anne Rice provides us an interesting version of the Genesis, told by Satan himself. Lestat is guided by Memnoch (Satan) through the old times, where he meets God and talks to him. This is a "powerful" book, for it deals with a delicate subject. In fact, Anne is right about one thing: Christian society is taught only one point of view about the CREATION. Why can't the "evil" version be the right one? Also, the descriptions of heaven and hell are amazing, astonishing, astounding! ESSENTIAL READING !

Summary: Poor, mediocre, moderate perhaps, but far from good.
Review: A good enough novel from another author perhaps, but from Anne Rice? It feels as if she has straight jacketed herself in the mythic laws of both her own vampire history and those of the christian church.

Too much retelling here and not enough new content.

Lestat has descended into neurotic paranoia, as well he might being pursued by the devil, but who wants to read about a nervous wreck?

Gone is the suave charm of the vampires as instead of being the hidden power amongst mortals they chitter and whine and are changed from being beguiling into wretched pathetic uninteresting characters.

Does Lestat's final state indicate redemption? Is his wound at the hand of Memnoch and his understanding of the suffering in hell a way for he himself to be redeemed? Is he a more extreme form of Roger or even Uncle Mickey? I was left not caring, Lestat is transformed from a fiery star into a vapid lilting weasel spouting pastel philosophy.

Summary: Very Entertaining.
Review: I must say this is Anne Rice's best novel. It was very interesting to read that Lestat was afraid of Something or Someone for once! I thought Rice's(or shall we say Lestat's or Memnoch's) depictions of Heaven and Hell, and the Creation were interesting. Sure, if we attended Sunday school or practice Christianity we heard this a million times. But this is different. It has a twist to it. It is from the Devil's point of view, and Rice makes the Devil seem, well, not as evil as we think he is.

This book makes you think about your views on Christianity, or any religion involving any god. On a whole, this book was wonderful, and I reccomend this book to anyone, especially Anne Rice fans.

Summary: Best out of the five
Review: I have read all of the vampire chronicles. This one was the best one by far. You take a trip through time, geography, and religon. It all starts at the creation of the earth. Eventually he takes a tour through heaven and hell. He gets to meet God, and has to choose whom he wants to serve. The events leading upto and after he makes his choice are awesome. I was shocked at the end. This is a definate must read.....

Review: I like this book. It wasn't extactly like the other ones, but it was very good.

Summary: Strange and thought-compelling
Review: At first I found this book hard to get into, but gradually I accepted what Anne Rice was trying to do and was then able to go along for the ride. The book explores many interesting ideas, and as usual the writing is full of passion. Not the most action-packed book I've ever read, but certainly one that got me thinking. Plus, it's always good to see a book with Lestat in it!

Summary: My Favorite of the Vampire Chronicles
Review: Memnoch the Devil is my favorite of the Vampire Chronicles because it mixes religion and the supernatural very well. I have read it several times since I bought it the very first day it came out. I was enthralled with the theories of creation et al., and I kept thinking to myself during the initial read "how much research did Rice have to do for this one?" I know that many Rice fans have said her writing is not what it used to be, however I think they are not true fans. They were looking for a quick fix and not allowing themselves to slip into Rice's world. I highly recommend this book to lovers of the supernatural and religion.

Summary: No, no,no!
Review: I can't believe I'm going to say this about one of the cronicals but I skimmed alot. The begining was great, the end was great. The middle was as dry as the sahara! anyone who went to church when they were young knows the story of creation frowards, backwards, sideways, and dianglally. And all this did was tell it from the devil's point of veiw. Well when they were in heven that was interesting and so was her decripion and perpous of hell but reading the part where I guess they walked threw time was like 100 pages of pergatory! Dora was pointless. She had no dimention what so ever. And tell me what was the point of taking Lastat's eye? Like I said the begining when he was telling David about "The stalker" was great everything up till when Memnoch took him on this jorny was old anne rice fast paced, with all of Lastat's smartalc remarks and wit. and it finally picked back up again was when lastat basicly told Memnoch "Take this job and shove it! The problem is that Lastat's carecter can never be spirtual in the ways of God and the devil I think he'll lose something. his whole story has been based on the consept, that was put forth in the second book. That there is a void of nothing when you pass, and we have to fight off the meaninglessness while were still on the earth. so to make a long review short (to late) Anne really missed it this time.
