Rating: Summary: It's got everything Review: This is the first book I've read by this author & it's got everything...vampires, comedy, action, sex & relationships. Need I say more? I'll be buying more of her books.
Rating: Summary: thought I'd "die" laughing!!!! Review: I have just finished reading SWV and now I've started on "Love Bites", which is said to be the sequel, but it seems to take place prior to the time of SWV. I agree with one reviewer who said that you should probably read "Love Bites" first, because it tells the story of how Etienne and Rachael got together. They are indeed already married in the SWV, which can get somewhat confusing. I don't understand why Lynsay Sands wrote them in this order. Enough said about that! This story was somewhat different in the humor than the Katie MacAlister vampire romance books I had previously finished. Luc (the vampire) was so..funny, whereas the girl was somewhat "normal" or "straitlaced" in contrast to the girls in the Katie MacAlister books, who were much more witty and outrageous! I agree with the reader who also laughed at the codpiece scene at the Romanic Times Convention, and later when Luc was trying to desperately purchase condoms at the hotel! I never laughed so hard, and I was afraid someone would see me and think I had lost my mind! Read this book!! Luc came across as somewhat stuffy in the beginning, but was so hilarious throughout the rest of the story. Read this book!!! I am now anxious to see how Etienne and Rachael got together, as their characters had cameo appearances in this story.
Rating: Summary: Laugh Out Loud Funny! Review: Lucern Argeneau is a four hundred year old vampire, trying to adapt to the 21st century. He has decided that to do so he will tell the "fiction" stories of his family, which once his editor sees them decided they are fantastic contemporary romances. To his surprise, they are a big success, so much so his editor, Kate C. Leever is trying to drag him to a romance convention to promote his books. Lucern is a very sexy and grumpy 30/400 year old, and he is determined NOT to go to a book convention. However, Kate is a whirlwind, an editor who is in need of a life and a good career move she not only shows up on his doorstep but she gets aid from his family to make him go. By the time Kate installs Lucern in the convention hotel; she is becoming concerned there is something very wrong with Lucern's health. She is shocked to find out the truth when she figures out his stories are not fiction. All the while you can see the 2 of them falling in love! This is part of a series but you can easily read them out of order. As usual L. Sands makes me laugh out loud with her writings. I love the scene at the supermarket where he is almost to the point of stalking a woman through the store. Also when he is watching Monty Pyton for the first time is hysterical!
Rating: Summary: Great read!! Review: After reading her first book in the series; Love Bites I had to run out the very next day and buy Single White Vampire. It was fantastic. Lynsay Sands gives us a look into the world of romance book writing and their writing conventions. A great series of books about not-quite your run of the mill vampires. I recomend this book and the others in the series to anyone who loves a good funny story or loves to read romance books with a twist.
Rating: Summary: Sex, Romance, and Vampires! What more do you need!! Review: I loved this book. I was hestitant to buy it because lately I have been comparing every vampire book/series to Charlaine Harris's series. Well, I read this book in one day. I now am actually looking for the other two books of Lynsay Sands called Love Bites, and Tall, Dark, and Hungry. These stories are about a vampire family that lives in Toronto. They have humor, sex, and romance in them. They also tell a little bit about how they became vampires. I wasn't disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Terrible horrible no-good very bad book Review: I threw this across the room in disgust. Serves me right for buying a book based on an amusing title.
The writing was sophomoric, the story was trite, and her "new" spin on the origins of vampirism was just idiotic. Way to uphold the cliche that vampires always have to be the most beautiful, intelligent, wealthy, successful, blah blah blah, make me puke. You're writing about vampires, not teddy bears with fangs.
Don't buy this book unless you like having your intelligence insulted. I've read more compelling refrigerator manuals.
Rating: Summary: very funny book Review: I only give this 4 stars, because it isn't fair to other books (katie macalister's vamp books) that made me laugh out louder, and that had much better developed characters.
Still this is a very enjoyable read, so much even, that I bought the other two books in the series :D
Rating: Summary: Oh-My-God Funny Review: So you have this eccentric vampire, Luc, who really just wants to be left alone to write his NONFICTION history books and not bother with the telephone, email, mail, or any real human contact. Even his own vampire family can be a bit bothersome at times. It's not like he is really undead--he can go out in the sun, with protective sunscrean; he can eat foods, with a supplement of a lot of blood; he doesn't sleep in a coffin, regardless of the fact there is one in his basement. He can do lot's of normal everyday things. So why is this nut job of an editor, Kate, hounding him. First she writes constantly. Asking for his email, his phone number, his consent to do public book signings. I mean is she nuts? She says his fiction vampire romance books are a hit, but what makes her think they are fiction. The stories of how his parents, brother, and sister met their wife and husbands is absolutely true. And to put the icing on the cake, the woman has actually showed up at his house and brought her luggage. Sheesh! Life will never be the same.
This novel cracked me up! I think you will enjoy it, too.
Rating: Summary: a vampire story thats fun to read Review: I loved this book! I especially loved the character Lucern. I loved how he was so belligerant at first but soon grows to love Kate. He was so bad boy-ish, which totally turned me on! It did have some boring parts. Considering the balls and parties that they had at the hotel, but there were many parts where I couldn't tear myself away. An example where Lucern gets caught about to bite her writer friend, and she thinks he's gay! priceless. I give it two and a half thumbs up, great holiday fun! ^.^
Rating: Summary: The whole series... Review: I really enjoyed this series. All of the characters were great, and I found that I was looking forward to most of the secondary characters stories that I hope will come. It's just that throughout this series (Love Bites, Singly White Vampire, & Tall, Dark and Hungry) there were many moments where it fell short for me. As I was reading I kept telling myself I couldn't wait to finish the series and move on to something more exciting. If you're looking for a romance/comedy with a great family then you'll enjoy this series. I just need more (a villain, a mission, something!) Yes, there was a comical vampire hunter in Love Bites but as far as vampirism; the author could have skipped it all together. They preferred bagged blood as opposed to biting (which they considered "out of fashion" unless it was an emergency), which for me seemed to take the intimacy out of it. (And as far as the bagged blood, well...Yuck!). These were also not very "Alpha" men. Etienne was a video game inventor, Lucern was an author, and Bastien was a businessman. There were only two instances where Etienne and then Lucern were put in "dangerous" positions where they encountered a vampire hunter (which was more comical than anything else). In "Tall, Dark and Hungry" there was absolutely nothing. Granted I may be comparing this author to Christine Feehan or Sherrilyn Kenyon whom have both created such awesome worlds, and whose books are full of action and suspense. I guess that's just it. These stories are just about relationship development. When I read a "Vampire" book I want magic! Suspense, shape shifting, bad guys, etc...5 stars because this series was great just not my favorite sort.
