Rating: Summary: A fun read Review: I am typically not a reader of vampire novels, but a friend loaned me "Single White Vampire" and insisted it was one of the funniest books she'd read in a while. A funny vampire book? Doesn't that sound intriguing? So I started to read it and really didn't expect much, but oh was I ever wrong!Lynsay Sands spins a fantastic tale about a 600-year old romance novel writing vampire who falls for his pushy new editor, Kate. Lucern, the vampire, isn't the nicest of guys - in fact he is downright mean at times. And Kate is stubborn and, quite frankly, doesn't have much going on in her life other than work. Somehow the two see the good parts of each other and you find yourself routing for them. On top of it all, there are many humorous situations throughout the book that are laugh out loud funny. All in all "Single White Vampire" is witty and fun. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Rating: Summary: Not as funny as reviews indicated Review: The humor in this book tended primarily toward slapstick, and though it was funny at times, I've read much funnier. Katie MacAlister's Improper English is funnier by a a hundred miles. Some scenes, like the Renaissance Ball, went on too long. Honestly, much of it was too slow and uninteresting to me. It took me a good while to read it. In fact, I stopped about 1/3 of the way through and read two other books before I made myself get back to it. The second half was better, but it's not one I'll buy or reread. Then again, contemporaries aren't my favorite romances anyway. Nutshell: okay, a few excellent scenes, not that funny, too long, not engrossing enough. But I'm bumping it up to three stars to account for my possible aversion to contemporary romances.
Rating: Summary: Very funny, I loved it! Review: I bought this book because of the reviews I read & I wasn't disapointed. The style of writing reminded me of Sandra Hill. There are some very funny parts which had me bursting out laughing. One instance is when Lucern is at the conference for romance writers & he is searching for condoms, I was laughing that much that I had tears running down my face. I don't want to spoil the plot by giving to much away. But if you like red hot passion & laughter in a story this book is for you. I'm about to start "Love bites" about Etienne & Rachel, (Lucern's brother). Can't wait for the rest of the family's stories to come out.
Rating: Summary: Visit the conference from hell with Kate and Lucern Review: A funny vampire novel. Is that an oxymoron? Well, if it is, then this book has managed to pull it off. Its an enjoyable, funny and fast read. Lucern Argeneau is a reclusive best selling romance novelist who only writes "fact". He is also a 600 year old vampire who is most certainly not "undead" as Kate Leever, his editor, is about to find out. Kate is sent to Toronto in Canada to get Lucern to agree to *any* publicity she can get out of him for her company. She finds a horrible, surly, unfriendly man hibernating in his house - what a girl to do in the face of such obstacles if she is to keep her job when she gets home? Kate is one stubborn woman and this is the story of how Lucern and Kate get to know and fall in love with the better sides of each others nature. It also handily sends up both the Vampire and Romance book genres along the way and doesn't take itself too seriously. For a new, and very funny, take on vampires this is a worthwhile read.
Rating: Summary: OMG great book Review: I can't understand why some people didn't like the book and couldn't find the humor in it....common...do you even HAVE a sense of humor?.....if you don't laugh while reading this book, consider getting some help....It's a great GREAT read, I love the way the author Lynsay Sands tells the tale of how the "vampires" came about....and I can't wait for more of this vampire family....
Rating: Summary: Fun but a little to insider-y at times. Review: This was a fun filled read but it sort of lagged in the middle when the heroine took her romance writing vampire hero to a Romantic Times convention. There were lots of insider jokes that I semi got because I've subscribed to the RT mag for ages but readers unfamiliar w/ RT might be a little lost. The heroine continued to act like a brainless nitwit until the books end but the hero was a great change of pace. Very little brooding and lots of sex appeal.
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: I had my doubts when I picked up this book but from the start when I read Lucien's replies to his editor I started laughing. The scene by the van when Kate was sure they were smoking "debbies" was hilarious. My co-workers kept giving me odd looks when I'd start laughing but it was worth it. A light read if you want a pleasant break from intense story lines.
Rating: Summary: A light read...full of giggles! Review: This is not your typical Vampire book. The characters aren't loaded down with expectations of what vampires are or are not. Mostly this book was a great quick read, simple to follow, most importantly...HUMOROUS! The first pages this book made me giggle and the humor was woven throughout! I have read quite a few Vampire books and this was by far the funniest. For a quickie book fix filled with romance, giggles and hoard of modern day Vampires...SWV is your best bet!
Rating: Summary: Single White Vampire Review: This book was ok...not a big fan of Vampires. I hope Lynsay doesn't stop her Historical Romances. I love her added humor in her books ...but just don't like the Vampire route she is taking.
Rating: Summary: It made me laugh a lot! Review: Single White Vampire was a humorous story that made me laugh a lot! I liked it.
