Rating: Summary: Never as good as the first one... Review: I agree that there were quite a bit "wet and wild" scenes in this book, but in no way should be compared to the first one. This novel, lacks a plot really. It surrounds Beauty and the beloved prince Triston. It happens over in a matter of days which is nothing at all. If you enjoyed, "The Claiming Of Sleeping Beauty" stick to that one.... Maybe "Beauty's Release" will be better!
Rating: Summary: Middlesex Review: I agree with the reader who similarly made the error of starting in the middle. I've spoken to another who started at the beginning and with, so far, superior results. If you attempt to read this book before the first, you aren't really indoctrinated into the fantasy nature of the work, and hence try to interpret it in a real-world mindset. I kept wondering about the economics of feeding all these slaves - what on earth were the villagers getting out of it all, why didn't they just put the slaves to work in garment factories, blah blah blah --- completely missing the point. If you are going to read this book, do yourself the favour of reading the prequel first.
Rating: Summary: Shocking Sequel Review: I bought the three all at one time when told that these were some kind of "new" work by Anne Rice writing under an (in)famous pseudonym. New? Well, that is an understatement. The first one had poor Beauty in the castle with her prince. Now she has been a bad girl (Rice's favorite kind, apparently) and joins her fellow slaves in a town of the common folk for fun and games. I think everyone at some time has thought of at least a variation of this - having beautiful gals (or handsome guys) around for pleasure. Giving literary license, one can almost find this stuff in the realm of possibility at some point way in the past. Again, we have a suffering of the soul and again all those mixed feelings in which Rice excels.
Rating: Summary: This book is awesome& erotic!! It is one of my fav. books! Review: I didn't want to put this book down. I could stay up for hours promising my self just one more chapter, knowing that I had to be up early. I kept saying to myself....Okay; this is the last chapter. Just get to the end of it and go to bed! It's very erotic and has lots of suspense. It's one of those stories where you say, "Ohmigod! What's gonna happen now?" I am ordering the sequel now. I can't wait to get it and start reading. Ann Rice can take you to a different world if ya let her. It's amazing. I actually felt like I was with Beauty...if not her myself. I reccomend this book to anyone out there that likes an erotic novel. *****
Rating: Summary: What a story! Review: I have been a fan of Anne Rice since the early 80's starting with the Vampire Chronicles. But I have to say that this trilogy has to be one of the best writings of Rices' time. It has everything;sensuality, drama, intrigue. If you are getting ready to spend some quality time alone and want something good to read, definately pick up this trilogy. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Easily the best of Anne Rice's erotic Review: I have been reading S&M erotica for the past 16 years and I have NEVER found any author that even comes close to her high level of literary or erotic quality. Not only does this book arouse, but it also smacks of realism. You feel as if you are REALLY there at the slave auction or the place of public punishment or the inn where Beauty is kept as a naked slave. Many S&M writers do a very poor and unprofessional job. Anne Rice is head and shoulders above ALL other writers in this genre. It is a shame that she has decided to never write any additional 'Sleeping Beauty' books or even S&M erotica of any setting. I weep over the fact that we must settle for the those writers of S&M erotica that do not have ONE HALF of her talent!
Rating: Summary: A Must-Read! Review: I have fallen in love with all three of the Sleeping Beauty books, although this one is my favorite. As I read them the first time, I wondered when Anne would run out of new S&M ideas. She never did. An excellent book, not to be missed!
Rating: Summary: Fan fiction? Review: I loved the Beauty Series especially the first book which had the shock of the new about it. The sequel was enjoyable but lacked the impact of the first book.
It was a bdsm novel and those who fail to take that into account would not understand it...the world of BDSM is like the world of fairy stories with its own rules and conventions...and some damned wicked witches too :)
I am interested that Anne Rice is so anti fan fiction though. Isn't the Beauty Series fan fiction on Charles Perrault's character?
Rating: Summary: Very moving and erotic! Review: I loved this book. A.R.'s exquisite views on the human spirit and sense of pride have been enveloped in this novel of eroticly wonderful proportions. Not a book for those who are very straight laced about sex! A liberal mind is the best kind for reading this book! Very few other writer can write a book practicaly dripping with sex and associated things without going off the deep end, but A.R. does it with her classic flair that made the Vampire series of hers so popular. I've given this book to my friends and they couldn't put it down, though whether it was from a true interest or a morbid fasination, I'm not really sure. A bargain however you look at it. Thanks Amazon!
Rating: Summary: can't list it here! Review: I read this book a few years ago. If you are offended by "somewhat" kinky literature, do not read this. This has s/m, bondage and fetish overtones (to say it mildly). I liked this book and I thought it was arousing!
