Rating: Summary: BRAVO ANN A TRUE CLASSIC OF EROTIC SENSUALITY Review: "BRAVO" Ann Rice. . Finally an intelligent and passionate look into erotic delights. Practiced through the ages. S&M to be sure . But not the calous, insensitive beatings and floggings in other such works. But an erotic look at sensual and sexual spanking and domination. Couldn't put the books down . All three were spellbinding. Personal favorites: Where the prince has the bakers daughter. Take beauty over her knee and spank her in front of an audience. Also the spankings at court. Where multiple spankings were administered over the knee by not only pages but the queen herself No brutal whippings In my opinion this trillogy will be one of the great works for all time. Once again "BRAVO ANN'. Keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: Just as disappointing as the first. Review: After reading the first book, I felt compelled to read the second only in hopes that Ms. Rice would develop her storyline. Although she does share the pschology behind the slave master relationship it is still a neverending spanking marathon. Book two was as dull as book one.
Rating: Summary: Erotica Review: Although I am not one to admit that I am into this sort of novel, I do read them behind closed doors. This one was given to me as a gift several years ago while I was in high school. Since that time I have read the novel 3 or 4 times and occasionally page through to reread a favorite passage. This is a book that general puts me in the mood and definitely opens up the doors for sexual imagination and fantasy. I would have to say this is a must-read, but only if you truely enjoy erotica.
Rating: Summary: HOT! HOT!! HOT!!!! Review: Although the entire trilogy is lovely...this is my favorite volume. I cannot count the number of times I have picked up this book and read a few pages. I feel Anne Rice bravely put down on paper her fantisies (which happen to be shared by many woem) for the world to enjoy....and it is a well-written book.An additional suggestion I would like to make to potential readers is if indeed you purchase the book, try reading it to others and have them read to you. It is a most enjoyable experience, to say the least!
Rating: Summary: The Beauty Trilogy - A Clever idea ... but falls short. Review: Anne Rice was on the right track with her refreshing notion to put an erotic spin to a beloved fairy tale, yet unfortunately, fell short of my expectations. For instance, none of the characters' personalities ever quite fully developed, leaving little chance to connect with any of them. The story was flat with no spark, no passion, no ability to "feel" anything other than, "Oh, no! Not another spanking!" I give Anne 3 stars out of respect for her as an author and her clever approach, but there is so much more to erotica than beatings. For those of you who would truly love to experience erotica at it's best, I highly recommend Miranda Reigns' newly released novel, CyberWebs. Miranda's descriptive writing and vivid imagination will transport you into the heart of the story, allowing you to see, hear, smell, taste and feel all that Miranda does and has done to her.
Rating: Summary: Great sequel! Review: Beauty's Punishment is the continuation of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Anne Rice's erotic retelling of the popular fairy tale. In the second installment, Beauty is punished for having rebelled against the Prince. She, along with Prince Tristan, an insubordinate slave and object of Beauty's desire, is auctioned, captivated and subjected to the most erotic, tantalizing and cruel games of domination and submission. Again, Anne Rice does an excellent job in illustrating the psychological implications of the human desire. She also does a splendid job in taking the course of the story to unexpected turns...There are various differences between The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty and its sequel. In Beauty's Punishment, the language is less fanciful and more explicit. Also, Prince Tristan is the focal character in this book -- thus, making Beauty seem as though she were a secondary character at times. And I noticed that the erotic scenes are far steamier this time. The changes are brilliant, for it makes the story meatier -- so to speak. I am duly impressed with Ms. Rice's ecstatic imagination and excellent prose. This is erotica at its literary best! I can't wait to know what happens to Beauty and Tristan in the conclusion of this (so far) memorable trilogy!
Rating: Summary: sensational Review: Before i read Beauty's Punishment, I didn't think I would like erotica. Ann Rice really captures the beauty and sensuality of every movement and action. She makes you feel the exquisite pain of her charaters as if you were experiencing it first hand. There is no other author that I know of who can make even the most horrific scene into a sensuous portrait of human emotion.
Rating: Summary: an erotic and fantastic adult fairy tale Review: Erotic and sensual, this trilogy proves to be a somewhat provocative and exciting fairy tale for both men and women. A fantasy that will prove to unlock your imagination and inhibitions!
Rating: Summary: Tiring - more S&M Review: From its prequel's incessant paddlings from the nobles, this story starts with the village auction where the protagonists were sold & their rightful masters punish them according to will. Aside from the change in venue, nothing really changed in the plot. More spankings & whippings but no extreme brutality which would cause a person's death. That's strange! Aside from Beauty & Tristan's willful stubborness to locate a stronger master, nothing much has been dealt with on the psychological level. Seems like the entire story was moulded on Beauty's turning into a whore (pardon the word) & a nympho whilst I could not determine if Tristan is a gay. Just like its predecessor, this book is such a disappointment!
Rating: Summary: Sensuality @ It's best... Review: I actually believe this book to be a great example of SOME aspects of the BDSM culture. The way that Beauty fully surrenders herself to the dominance of those surrounding her is something that I found to be truly beautiful. The book didn't just focus on the sexual aspect of BDSM, but it looked at it as a lifestyle. The submissive characters in the book were submissive all the way down to their daily chores. The book was extremely descriptive. I could feel textures, taste flavors, and revel in the upmost delicious scents. I haven't read the whole series, and I actually regret starting from the middle...I would recommend starting from the beginning because I had a sense of being slightly lost. I was curiuos throughtout the whole book as to how these creatures came to their position of submissiveness. I also love how at the end of the book, you are left hanging in an air of ecstacy and mystery. It makes one "hungry" for the next book. Mrs. Rice always has a way of doing such a thing......
