Summary: A must own!!
Review: This book is a vivid, wildly thought provoking book of desire and lust. A have bought four copies and given them to close friends and lovers. My favorite erotic book of all time.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Wow, what a book!
Review: I have read many Anne Rice novels but this one blew my out of the water. I wasnt sure what to expect and I still dont know if I want to read more of the Beauty series. I found it very erotic but at the same time very sexist and disturbing. This book is great for those who love constant spanking, I found there to be way too much of it in the book. I would be very particular about who I recommended this book to.

Summary: COMMIT TO MEMORY
Review: This book is absolutely amazing! Anne Rice takes you away to a land of erotic, twisted sex, yet the promise of true love and romance is there. When I read this book, I honestly could not put mit down. The characters were vivid, the emotions poignant, I could actually picture myself there, feeling what they were feeling. Want to be swept off your feet? Buy this book!

Summary: A book any woman can enjoy....
Review: This is one of the best books i've ever read, this trilogy lacks only in that its not continued by a fourth book. I was surprised that anne Rice had written these books, its still has her flair for the imaginative, without vampires, which ofcourse were unnecessary. Especially recommended for women....great books!

Summary: When is the movie coming out!
Review: It was my first book of erotica and I must say I enjoyed it very much. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. But I really want to see the movie!!! When is it coming out!!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Boring and Repetitive
Review: The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty was a big disappointment. It lacked the detail most Anne Rice readers are used to from her Vampire series. The book was extremely repetitive. You can only read about someone getting spanked so many times before it is no longer erotic and just plain boring.

Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK!!!
Review: I devoured this book in an afternoon. I couldn't put it down! A must-read for everyone!!!

Summary: this is just really badly written erotica
Review: can't Anne Rice use the english language any better than this? (maybe she's better in her other books) this book just comes off as really badly written smut! Unless you have never ever imagined or been exposed to the concept of S&M or D/s, every scene in this story is completely predictable and repetitive. But, if you've read any other D/s fiction, i would bet that whatever you've read before is probably much more erotic than this. I can't even put this book in the hard core erotica category, 'cause there's books that are much more hardcore than this. And if you're looking for softcore erotica, the writing in here is definitely not subtle or eloquent enough to qualify. A suggestion for those who might be willing to read something SciFi-oriented that portrays a similar world of Domination/submission: _Captive of Gor_, _Slave Girl of Gor_, and _Dancer of Gor_ all by John Norman.

Summary: Completely enthralling... exotic and erotic.
Review: I have read the entire series and I have to admit, I have never read three books so quickly. When I started the series, I just couldn't put them down. They are so exotic, erotic, and totally captivating. I agree with the other reader who said that three books are hardly enough!! (I wish Rice would offer new twisted renditions of other fairy tales as well! Not for the squirmish, that's for sure!) Though I do think she changed which character was narrating too often without a clear switch over in some instances, it was fabulous none-the-less. To me, the first book was by far the best and it seemed the other two didn't live up to it... then the others grew on me, not as follow ups necessarily, but as variation stories in their own right. Must reads for hard core erotic fans.

Summary: Too much spanking; not enough fairy tale
Review: Reading this novel was rather surprisingly like reading Dante's "Inferno." At first, its horrifying nature keeps the reader turning pages. Then, as the story and characters descend, the tortures become repetitive and, eventually, quite boring. Perhaps that was the author's intent (in both cases), but it makes for a dull read past the first few chapters.

But my major complaint with the work is that Sleeping Beauty's involvement seems irrelevant. The oldest versions of the legend do center largely around what takes place after her rescue, but little in this novel has anything to do with traditions of the tale or even a realistic revision of what might have happened to a person in Sleeping Beauty's situation.

Finally, I did not feel the work held up well as a work of erotica. There is indeed a great deal of nudity and spanking, but the work is surprisingly light on actual sex. That, the lack of legend, repetitive incidents and near total lack of plot make the work hardly worth a read.
