Summary: Easy Read for Vacation
Review: This was definitely an entertaining read. I read it on vacation in two days. While it's not one of my favorites by Nora Roberts, her writing always interests me. After reading the first two books in this series, Face the Fire was kind of predictable.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Disappointing
Review: I stuggled to finish this book! It started off well, but then it lost steam. Personally, I think this trilogy was one of Nora Roberts' weakest.

Summary: Face the Fire
Review: The three sister Island trilogy to me only got stronger as it got to the third book. Looking back Dancing on the Air was the ground work which made Heaven and Earth and Face the Fire better than the first in this series. I was on pins and needles all the way to the last four pages riveted to know how Mia and Sam's love would change into an adult love. I think the story realistically portrayed all the elements that drove them to make the decisions they chose and how they found their way back to each other.

Summary: Okay - who really wrote this book
Review: This first book really grabbed my attention and left me waiting impatiently for the second. The second was not as good as the first, but I thought it was because I really did not identify with Ripley. However, I expected the third book to really deliver - end the series well and develop the powerful and mysterious Mia. After reading this book, I was sorely disappointed. Other NR trilogies have been spectacular (all three books). In this book things 'happen', without real character or situational development. Suddenly, animosity between characters is gone. Suddenly, a character does something out of character with no explanation. The ending was also a little too romance-novel-cookie cutter for me.

Summary: A really enjoyable story
Review: I'm sorry to see that so many reviewers were disappointed, but I'm not one of them. I am an avid fan of NR, but there's been 1 or 2 of her books that I haven't enjoyed, this is not one of them. I expected the book to be filled with magic; the first two were. I also expected it be centered around Mia & Sam & I enjoyed their story very much. Quite a few other reviewers have given an excellent synopsis of the story, so I'll just say that if you enjoy light magic & romance, you'll enjoy this book.

Summary: Third Time's a Charm!
Review: As is the case with all the finales to her trilogies, Nora Roberts kicks some serious butt with 'Face the Fire'. We finally get Mia's story, and what a story it is. As the most powerful and experienced of the descendants of the original Circle of Three, Mia taught Nell who and what she was (in Dance Upon The Air) and coaxed the reluctant Ripley back into action (in Heaven and Earth). Mia knows that in order to face and defeat the evil lurking at the tail end of the 300 year old curse placed upon Three Sisters Island, she needs the combined powers of both of her sisters, as well as the 'fourth element' - Sam Logan, a powerful witch himself. Mia and Sam's story of lost love is detailed her as well, as the reason for the rift between Mia and Ripley, and Ripley's reluctance to perform magic.
With the very existence of Three Sisters Island hanging in the balance, Mia knows that she has to defend the people she loves and the island that means so much to her. No longer outsiders, Ripley's new husband Dr. MacAllister Booke and Nell's hubby Sheriff Zachary Todd vow to stand beside the women they love as well as Mia when the time comes for her to 'face the fire'.
I was a bit surprised at Mia's final 'battle'on the cliff's, along with the rest of the cast. I thought it would have been longer and more detailed, but it was so full of emotion and excitement, you'd hardly notice. It was great to catch up with Nell, Zach, Ripley and Mac and see whats been going on in their lives. And to finally have Mia front and center was fantastic.
Her conversation with Ripley early on in the book, explaining what had forced Ripley to distance herself from Mia and Magic for almost 11 years brought tears to my eyes.
Bottom line....Nora Roberts is the best. She writes exciting romances and always adds that special touch of magic that makes her books the ones you'll reach for over, and over, and over.....

Summary: Nora Roberts does it again!
Review: I enjoy Nora Roberts books. They are very entertaining and the fact that she writes a book about each member of a family gives the reader a sense of continuity. I always look forward to reading the next book.

Summary: A fine start, but this novel runs out of steam
Review: I was a little disappointed in the ending of this novel. Of course I knew it had to end, but I expected something much more climactic since Mia Devlin had been cast as the stronger of the three sisters in the first two novels. I expected her story to be the most powerful, yet ultimately I found it to be the weakest. In the beginning, her anger at Sam was interesting, and the romantic scenes in this novel were much more believable to the character than in books one and two. However, with one simple conversation, it's as if Mia says, "Oh well...that's ok...the past decade is forgiven." Just a little hard to swallow.... The joining of her power with Sam's was very believable in the early scenes, but when it comes to the ending, I guess I expected much more. Everything seemed to be over-simplified. Still, it's worth the read, and you won't feel satisfied until you finish the trilogy if you have already read the first two books.

Summary: Disappointed so mote it be
Review: I really like the first book, the second was for me a slight step down and maybe I was just expecting tooooooo much from the 3rd but I was surely let down. I am an avid NR reader and this one was well below her normal grade. She had built Mia into such a compelling character in the first two books and this one just somehow didn't deliver.

Summary: Disappointment
Review: What a disappointing book! I usually like Nora Roberts, but this book was a major let-down considering Mia seemed to be the main character. I really expected her story to shine and I really expected that Sam wouldn't be easily forgiven; forgiveness came with no effort on his part at all. The chemistry between the two characters was weak and relied upon their history as children instead of their present personalities. This was by far the weakest of the three in this series and I'm definitely going to be more cautious when buying Roberts' books -- they used to be on my automatic purchase list, but now they're not. This is certainly not a book that warrants above 3 stars. Save your money and borrow a friends' copy!
