Rating: Summary: Could have been better Review: Paranormal romance, and especially witches are my favorite kinds of romances. I guess I watch too much Charmed. This novel is the second in a series about three witches descended from three sisters who escaped the Salem Witch Trials by creating there own island.Mia was never my favorite of the three women. She was too perfect. In this book, however, she comes off as a real B**ch. I really didn't like her. Sam was just so typical romance novel hero that he was a little boring. Rich, good looking. The only thing new about him was being a witch. The magic and spells in this book were over the top. They cast a spell for everything in this novel. I mean, a spell to do your makeup? Is that really necessary? The end of this book just sort of fizzled the whole series, which I loved. I mean, all Mia had to do was love Sam. So what? Nell had to overcome her fear of her abusive husband, Ripley had to deal with her temper and need for vengeance. Mia just had to admit that she loved a man she had always loved. Seemed a little simple to me. I do love these books though. Great fun to read.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful!! A great conclusion to a great trilogy! Review: Mia Devlin is a strong woman, strong in personality, powerful in what makes her the most powerful of the three sisters, but her weakness has just come back to Three Sister's Island after many a year away. Sam Logan had crushed Mia's heart when he left, she had never wanted another man, but he wasn't ready to settle down. So Mia built her business walked her cliffs and prepared for the fight to protect the Island. But having Sam come back has thrown her off balance, as all the old feelings come back, and Sam makes plans to settle down on the island for good. Mia can see her hearts desire, yet the shadows cling around her little island as never before. Its been waiting for 300 years for the wards of protection to fade around that little island of light and It's darkness will never be happy till it has destroyed what it could never have. This is Mia's test, and in the balance is the her love come back to her, her sisters and their familys, and all 3000 souls on the island, many of whom to which she is bound by the blood of family to. Ms Roberts has done it again!
Rating: Summary: Loved Mia and Sam's story!! Review: The story: A stunningly beautiful, powerful witch who possesses the gift of Fire, Mia Devlin locked her heart away when Sam Logan rejected her youthful love and left Three Sisters Island. Eleven years later, Sam returns to the island to claim Mia and take over his family business, the Magick Inn. Passion still burns between them, but Mia refuses to trust the man who once tore her life apart, leaving her grieving and alone. It's imperative that they find a way to resolve their thorny, complicated relationship for time is running out and the deadline for breaking a centuries-old curse is near. Mia has the steadfast aid of her two sisters of the heart, powerful witches that rule Air and Earth, but without Sam's help, even Mia's powers may not be enough to keep her alive until the deadline. And unless Mia makes the right choice about her heart and Sam, evil may win in the final confrontation, destroying all their lives and Three Sisters Island as well. This was a fabulous ending to this series. Finally the sisters have the added power they need to defeat the evil that has come to the island : Sam Logan. He and Mia scorch the page with their love / hate relationship. Mia knows she has to decide her fate, and that the lives of everyone on the island hangs in the balance. With the love and advice of everyone from this series (Zach, Nell, Riley, Mac and Lulu) she makes her decision and never looks back. I hated for this book to end. It meant losing the friends that I have made on Three Sisters Island. But, alas, all good things must come to an end. Once again, the dramatic conclusion happens on the last few pages and feels to brief to justify the long story. But, that is Nora Roberts' style and although the end is quick, it still works. I strongly recommend this series. It was wonderful!!! JBogue paper-and-lace.com specializing in paranormal romance and fiction
Rating: Summary: great reads Review: I am on the second of the three and I absolutely love these books. The characters are easy to like. I reccomend this trilogy to anyone who wants a book that contains it all. Drama, love, deceit, and suspense. Nora Roberts is one of the best authors I have come across and it really is easy reading. Don't miss out on these great stories.
Rating: Summary: Face the Fire (Three Sisters Island Trilogy) Review: While I enjoyed the series and was sad to finish the last book, I did find Nora Roberts a little on the predictable side. Personally I like to be shocked, like surprise endings. You will not find that with this book. After reading the first two, I was able to figure out the ending of the third half way through. Regardless, I do recommend this book and would also like to see a sequel series based on the next generation of witches.
Rating: Summary: Great Reading Material! Review: This was a great book, my favorite out of the Trilogy but you should read all three in order to get the full effect of the characters and the story line. These books are really good! I would suggest you to read these books if you have never read any Nora Roberts books before these books might get you hooked!
Rating: Summary: a disappointing ending!!!! Review: A friend had lent me the first two books in this series, and I eagerly waited for the thrid to some out. It was so bad that I didn't even finish it...I'll admit I thought Mia was the most boring of the three sisters, but the whole book was a snooze! I think I'm done with reading Nora Roberts books.
Rating: Summary: I love reading Nora's books. Review: I gave up reading Romance because they did have what I was looking for until I picked up my first Nora Roberts book, Blue Bayou, after that I was hooked. I bought this book because I am very intrigued by the wiccan culture and this book did not disapoint. I see these three women Mia, Ripley and Nell like a more grown-up version of the Charmed series. This book is about my favorite character Mia she is so strong in her powers, and a new character Sam Logan, her former lover who came back after eleven years. Of course, all my favorites are in the story to. I would like Nora to do a series sequel on the daughters of these three wonderful and lovely women and very sexy and gorgeous men that they married.
Rating: Summary: exciting, interesting, and different Review: When you try to describe the story of the book it sounds weird because its about witches, magic and evil. But as soon as you start reading it you cant put it down. It is so interesting and not like anything else I have read before. It has the classic love story but it is so much more than that. I really enjoyed Mia's character and what a strong, smart person she was. This book was great, always kept my interest, and different from books i usually read.
Rating: Summary: A good story but not the earth shatering climax Review: I was expecting. The reason I say this is because the other books in the series seemed to be building up to something incredible. While Face the Fire is an interesting story, the ending does not satisfy. Mia and Sam are great characters and have lots of chemistry. However, I thought that the reason for Sam's departure was flimsy at best. He basically left because he was feeling smothered, tied down by Mia and her love. He has loved her all these years yet he stayed away for over a decade!!! I just could not really care about him after that. I also though Mia should have made him beg and grovel before taking him back, she seemed to give in way too easily. Aside from this, the writing, as in all of Robert's books, is excellent the appearance of the characters from the previous books is also a treat. This book is recommended to those who have read the other two, if you have not I recommend starting out with the first book Dance Upon the Air. :)
