Rating: Summary: What is not to like!!!! Review: This is one of those books that calls to you each time you pass it on the nightstand...so you might as well sit down and finish it. The 2nd in the series gives even more clues into the basis of the legend. The story delves deeper into the relationships of all of the characters. I enjoyed this book throughly and I am anxiously awaiting the third book of the series.
Rating: Summary: Witchcraft and romance- What's not to like? Review: While this book, like the first in the series, lacks some depth, it makes it up with intense scenes, full of steam and laughter. More of the legend is revealed, as well as more insights for all the main characters.Ripley is a hard nosed cop who doesn't want to admit that she has a few extra talents, and along comes Mac, a paranormal scientist. Needless to say that he's interested in more than her occult abilities! This book was enjoyable and very easy to read. The ending was slightly disappointing, but the rest of the book was well worth my time. Can't wait to see if the legend is totally explained in the last book
Rating: Summary: What a great fun read! Review: I've now read both books (those published) in the trilogy and I can't wait for the third to come out this summer. I always enjoy Nora Roberts' books -- especially those with mystery involved and not just pure romance. The element of the spiritual and witchcraft in this book is loads of fun and whether you believe in this stuff or not, it certainly makes an interesting, entertaining read. Characters are great and the romance, well....it's classic Roberts!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Reading Review: The trilogy of Three Sisters Island is absolutely well worth reading. I get lost in the characters every time I pick up the books. Nora has a way with her words and characters that is "spell-binding" to say the least. I can't wait for the third n the series. I wish there would be more as I love the sisters and their trials in accepting their heritage. Definitly not a pick up and put down book. She has the reader from the first page.
Rating: Summary: Ok, My 2nd Nora Roberts Book Review: I truly enjoy the characters in these books, but I feel like there is a lack of depth and substance to the entire plot. The paranormal and the witch idea is fun but with the relationships involved, it is very shallow in this story. I am thinking that maybe if she wrote this series about the sisters in the 1600's that founded Three Sisters Island then she just might have had something there. I am still confused on what exactly was happening back then...How did that sister Air ever meet that awful man if they hid out on that island???? Either Nora is just producing too many books, or I am just not into this Romance type. At any rate I do plan to read the last book when it comes out in June...hopefully it will have more to tie this trilogy up.
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down... Review: This book was so hard to put down! She has a way of pulling you into the story. It has romance, Action and danger all rolled into one. I read the first in the trilogy and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this one. Nora Roberts is a wonderful storyteller. I can't wait to get my hands on the third in the series! A MUST READ!!
Rating: Summary: Nora Roberts is a Godess Review: I am never dissapointed to read any of Noras books. When I read the first installment of this series, I couldnt wait to get my hands on the next one, and now I anxiously await the third and final installment. The first book explains how three witches from the past created an island to protect themselves. The series tells of the descendants from those witches. The stories do not focus on total paranormal, though they offer the readers enough of the paranormal to be believable in todays day and age. This book focuses on Ripley Todd, the Island Sherriffs sister, and deputy. She is the most obstinate of the three, not willing to accept her powers, though destiny forces her to accept. She becomes the unwilling (& willing) subject of study to the man who she would fall in love with. That takes care of two witches, now we wait impatiently to see what becomes of the third and most powerful, (and humerous) witch Mia. I can hardly wait to read what happens next. Noras trilogys are the best. They keep you wanting more and more, and she consistantly gives more. Excellent!
Rating: Summary: Ripley's Believe It or Not? Review: The second installment of the Three Sisters Island trilogy continues the story of three modern witches--Ripley, Mia and Nell. This one focuses on Ripley's struggles with her magical powers and her growing interest in a visiting scientist whose interests in her magic are not entirely academic. The legend of the island states that the three 'sisters' must unite to prevent the island from sinking into the depths of the sea. Sheriff's deputy, Ripley Todd, wants no part in this 'crapola' and believes the gun in her holster is all the magic she needs to fight evil. But, only by learning to control her emotions as well as her magical powers, can Ripley fight the evil that threatens to destroy all she holds dear. If she can't control her need for vengeance, she is doomed to repeat the mistakes of her ancestors and doom the island to a horrible fate. This was a quick, fun follow-up to Dance Upon the Air. However, I agree with another reviewer who said that it wouldn't stand alone without being part of a trilogy. Maybe because Ripley is the least likable of the three witches? Or maybe I just found the idea of Ripley flying a little too hard to believe. Mia's story will wrap up the trilogy. She is the strongest, most likable of the three. Hopefully Roberts has saved the best for last!
Rating: Summary: If you like Eve Dallas you'll like Ripley Todd Review: Ripley Todd is the main character, strong, opinionated, aggressive and fiesty. She doesn't back down and doesn't hold back on punches, literally. If you like the J.D. Robb series with Eve Dallas. You'll like this book. Mac Booke is far more low key, and so well-balanced it's hard not to fall in love with him. No dark secrets here, just a guy who likes to study the paranormal.
Rating: Summary: CAN'T WAIT FOR #3 IN THIS SERIES Review: Nobody does trilogies as well as Nora Roberts, and this seris does not disappoint. While Ripley's "witch denial" gets a little irritating at times, Ms. Roberts ability to make her characters ring true, (with real human qualities), remains consistent in this book. It's only natural that some characters are more appealing than others. But in the end, a good romance writer will find a way to reconcile their imperfections to the satisfaction of the reader. That's exactly what happens in Ripley's case. I live with an "absent minded professor", and Mac's imperfections were right on. Through my work, I once met a doctorate in paranormal activity who, just like Mac, had designed equipment for reading paranormal "activity". He traveled to haunted houses and castles all over the world. Perhaps some readers thought that Mac's professional was a figment of the writer's imagination. It is not. While she may have embellished, much of what she wrote was very consistent with my experience. Another great read!
