Rating: Summary: Definitly for the Anne Rice lover. Review: Anne Rice has once again outdone herself with The Vampire Lestat. It is the second installment of The Vampire Chronicles. I have to say I really did enjoy this book. It has a great deal of adventure and romanticism to it although it is a bit confusing at times. If you can get past the long descriptions (which can be helpful at times) and the flipping around from adventure to adventure, you'll love this novel by Rice. The Vampire Lestat is the autobiography of the vampire, Lestat de Loincourt; the fledgling vampire of the now deceased Magnus. The novel takes place in Lestat's modern home of New Orleans, Louisiana, as many of the vampire chronicle books do, and begins by Lestat introducing himself for all the new vampire readers who haven't read the mortal Daniel's interview with Louis who is by coincidence, Lestat's fledgling. Lestat proceeds by reviewing and describing his childhood before he was a vampire. He talks of his life in the family castle, of his running away to Paris to becoming an actor and of the night Magnus captured him. He tells of how Magnus turned him into a vampire against his will and gave him a few lessons before jumping into a bonfire to destroy himself. The entire rest of book tells of all Lestat's adventures up to present day New Orleans, 1985 like him turning his mother into a vampire, him destroying Armand's cult of vampires and finding Marius and meeting Those Who Must Be Kept. The novel concludes by Lestat becoming a vampire rock star in New Orleans with his band of mortals. The book leaves you hanging with the fact that the oldest and first vampire ever created, Akasha, is awakened by Lestat's music and goes on a killing rampage until the next chronicle, The Queen of the Damned. The novel is good, but confusing for the impatient. You really have to have a love for Anne Rice's works to enjoy this one, but if you love realistic, fantasy fiction than you should definitely have this book on your shelf. I know I will. It's not your average cup of tea.
Rating: Summary: an eternity to pursue every whim and pleasure Review: I've read all her vampire chronicles and I'm looking to find the hardcover edition containing the vampire chronicles. These are stories I enjoy reading again and again. Queen of the Damned should most definately be made into a movie! Who could not love Lestat or the wonderful concept of having an eternity to do what you want without the constant need for sustenance (eating every 4 hours, water)and the fear of bodily harm. An eternity to pursue every whim and pleasure.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY GREAT, LIKE NOTHING ELSE YOU'LL READ! Review: I found that with each book her stories get better and better. Although my favorite is Queen of the Damned. That would make a great movie. Nobody knows whats going on inside her head, but whatever it is keep it comin!!!
Rating: Summary: A horror novel you wouldn't want to read at night Review: The Vampire Lestat, by Anne Rice is one of the most scariest vampire novels I read. The novel is about Lestat's life, and hoe he bacame what he is today. The writer uses foreshadowing at one piont of the book, which makes it nerve racking. The most scariest part was when he mentions " The Presence ". This reminds me of a freddy movie where you have a dream about him, and it happens. He appears from no where and strikes you with his vicious claws of blades. " The Presence is some what similar. At frist they are afraid to fight Lestat, until all of them came at once, similar to a Freddy movie. I feel that all of Anne Rice's novels has a certain kind of horror to it. It always relate to another character in one of the chronicles. i would recommend this book to anyone who can stand having nightmares about vampires.

Rating: Summary: Anne Rice rocks the literary world with these chronicles! Review: I have never in my life read anything like Anne puts forth in these tales. In her world, vampires are not only beautiful but very seductive. Lestat is on of the best characters around. His ability to overcome anything that comes his way is incredible. I especially loved his experiences with Memnoch. If you haven't read this book I strongly encourage it. It will really make you consider everything you have ever been taught about God and Satan. I love this whole series! And I look forward to every book that Anne writes
Rating: Summary: A number of refreshingly sensual pieces of literature Review: From the first time I picked up an Anne rice book , to the final moment when I dropped the last of her outrageously flowery yarns into my, "to be read again box" I was impressed. Rice has an outstanding ability to make the most outrageous and unearthly of things somehow understandable but always extremely sensuous and tactile. To be continued
Rating: Summary: amazing, simply amazing!!! Review: I love these books, they are very well written! her heart and passion goes straight to the books in an amzing way! She traveled all over the world, researching well to get the information in all her books, she will always be my inspiration! -Joeleen
Rating: Summary: I fear that words won't be enough Review: As a very serious reader I fear that words won't be enough to describe the intellectual and emotional satisfaction that I retreived from this beatiful tale. For all the fantastic features, characters and richness it has, the story turns very quickly to something very real, very human. With the exquisite style of Anne Rice, Lestat along with other"vampire" characters becomes very familiar, very friendly and very like ourselves. What is more fascinating is that the extravaganza of the language, which could have made the book heavy, and the characters adds to the general atmospere of Beauty and Harmony that is in my opinion "the" characteristic of the Chronicles. This is the first gothic novel that is not pulp but litterature.
Rating: Summary: SOME OF THE GREATEST BOOKS EVER WRITTEN Review: INTERVIEW is excellent, and THE VAMPIRE LESTAT is awesome. QUEEN gets a little boring towards the end, but still read it, it's interesting. TALE OF THE BODY THIEF gets it going again, and it's very, Very, VERY weird. I love them all!
