Rating: Summary: The Vampire Chronicles Review: I have read Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, and Pandora. I recently bought Tale of the Body Thief and Memnoch the Devil. I haven't had a chance to read these two yet, but I have a very good feeling that they are just as well-written as the others I have read. I have been very impressed with Anne Rice in all that I've read and I will continue to read more of her works(starting right now with The Vampire Armand).
Rating: Summary: Anne Rice is the best Vampire writer! Review: I bought the set along with the two books following in 1999. My husband borrowed the set before I had a chance to read it and my sister grabbed the two books...so I didnt get a chance to read them until later on...I have read "Interview with the Vampire" before I bought the set and I liked it very much...but it was the second book (The Vampire Lestat)which got my attention! I myself can relate to his character and I couldnt put the book down..I gave birth to my daughter and was reading the Vampire books during my stay in the hospital.. I am now on book 4... These books are really interesting and certainly a must read! I will continue to get more of Anne Rice's books... :0)
Rating: Summary: Repetitive Review: It is enough to read one book from "Vampire Chronicles" series, because things get repetitive. I am now into the fifth, "Memnoch the Devil", and I don't know if I will ever finish it. All emotions of vampires can be summed up in one: love/hate, hate/love, which emotion leads one vampire, usually Lestat, into making another vampire.... Plots are easy to guess from the outset, language - excessive, unclear, confusing. Highly overrated.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: Anne Rice. You either love her or hate her. I happen to love her, and am a huge fan of the Vampire Chronicles, particularly The Vampire Lestat. After Lestat's claim to know nothing of the history of vampires and indeed his tantalising claim that he was never given the choice of receiving "the dark gift", TVL is a fascinating look into Lestat's past and the circumstances surrounding his tranformation to a vampire. This book also introduces Armand, and Lestat's mother, Gabrielle, both large players in the later Vampire Chronicles, as well as giving a teasing further glimpse into the life of the tragic Claudia (further explored in the newest volume, "Merrick"). While Rice can be rather long-winded at times, the first 3 volumes of the chronicles thankfully lack any of the merry-go-round quality and confusion of Tale of the Body Thief and Memnoch the Devil.I suggest that you do not start reading any of these tomes without first ensuring that you have a peaceful room and a full glass of wine, because you will soon find yourself fully absorbed in these wonderful tales. However, be careful, as you might soon find yourself, like the young Daniel, begging for the dark gift for yourself.
Rating: Summary: what people think they know about vampires Review: vampires are not like the one in the book, they are many things but not that. Vampires come in many colors, like pink and yellow and the number one vampire is blue. He is the number one vampire since he is the fastest thing ever. He one the olympics twice in one second. Vampires live in tube slides and play houses, usually at toys-r-us. That is why your hair sticks up when you go in them. vampire victims have ornage shoes. Vampires like to hang on the sides of aireplanes. There are no vampires south of Washington DC. That's why i think this book is dumb.
Rating: Summary: Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice Review: I love her writing. She is blessed with the ability to create such stories that you just get drawn into. I have all of her hard cover books, that to much regret were destroyed in basement flood, i was in the middle of moving when it happened. But anyways if you get the chance to read any of her work do so, they are incredible. The story really draws you in and you wont be able to put the book down until you are finished. And you wont be able to wait for the next one. I rate these books very highly.
Rating: Summary: Amazing... Review: In my opinion, these are the best books ever written. Anne Rice's style of writing has the ability to rip you from the fabric of reality and lure you to a world that will captivate and move you. You'll find yourself enthralled in the characters and plot that you won't even realise it's 4 a.m. an you'll still be wanting to unravel the storyline. If you're concerned with the amount of gore, don't be. Rice romantices the idea of vampires to a point that you forget about ever seeing Bram Stoker's Dracula, however I wouldn't let a twelve year old read these. A must for anyone with even the slightest passing interest.
Rating: Summary: ho hum... Review: Ann Rice is over rated. He books are long, drawn out and boring. I found Interview with the Vampire pointless, and even the The Vampire Lestat, a premise I liked and was eager to read, was dull. If you want to read good vampire books, try the Anita Blake series
Rating: Summary: The Vampire Lestat ...The Complete Vampire Chronicles Review: It starts off very interesting... The Vampire Lestat is who I related to the most. His warmth, and wickedness at the same time is really inspiring. I loved Queen of the damned, the different characters like baby Jenks, and the twins was nothing short of spellbinding. I totally recommend these books to the avid horror reader.
Rating: Summary: Simply Irresistable! Review: The luxurious power of Anne Rice's words get to solid center of your soul. I am currently reading The Tale of the Body Theif, and in a way I started to begin to question some of my own feelings and thoughts about all the beings that we may have on this earth. No one truly knows the unknown that we have been searching for generations to find. She has just the right amount of ingredients in her writing to captivate and rekindle the imagination that has been hidden inside of you since you were a child. But be no mistake, this is no kiddie book. The contents are mature and for those who can stand a little blood and culture. I definetly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in losing themselves in a piece of literature that will not only be a good bedtime story, but be a bit of surprise and lure for the ending of your day.
