Summary: Sex and the Single Vampire
Review: If you're in the mood for comedy, love, sex, and a gaggle of interesting, yet often comical ghoulie creatures, I recommend MacAlister's newest novel. A sequel to "A Girls Guide to Vampires," (AGGTV) this novel shows us how Christian--a vampire of whom some of you might be familiar with--meets his mate, Allegra.

The book starts off capitally and manages to keep itself on a higher level of entertainment. Readers that missed AGGTV might be a bit confused at the onset of the book, but in due course all is explained in brief sentences sprinkled here and there throughout most of the first half. The characters are huorously true to their form, and Allegra is a very interesting addition to the group. Her occupation is Summoner, a person that can call forth ghosts lurking about and demons from hell ... though she'd be the first to admit that she isn't very good at it. It is through her voice that this book is told.

I highly recommend this book, and hope that MacAlister, who has openly admitted to her love for the work of Christine Feehan, manages to keep churning out various novels with more variation than the latter.

Summary: Do you like funny, hot, vampire books? This ones for you....
Review: Katie has written a hilariously funny romance between the incredibly hunky Christian Dante, famous author of vampire novels and Allegra Telford, a somewhat unsuccessful summoner. Christian is on a book signing tour and to search for his Beloved, his friends figured if he expanded his search outside of Monrovia he'd have a better chance of finding "her". Allegra on the other hand is trying to summon her first spirit and also promised her best friend she'd get a book signed by Christian while he was in London.
Through the book Allegra "hones" her summoning skills, she manages to first summon a three legged cat, tries to release it , it doesn't want to go. Next comes the cat's owner, a matchmaking, busybody old lady, Esme, she doesn't want to be released either. Allegra goes on to summon several more spirits that don't want to be returned, including Alis, an ex-housekeeper who only speaks Welsh and yells at all the antiques and expensive vases in the house. She must be trying to get her revenge on the things that made her previous life miserable. It must frustrate her because when she tries to destroy things her ghost hand just passes right through them.
Christian can't believe that Allegra is his Beloved, after all he always thought his one and only would be a docile, amenable kind a woman, not like the fighter Allegra is. She will let nothing stand in her way to protect someone she loves and that is precisely what Christian needs.
Another great trait we have come to expect in a "Katie" book is, the heroine isn't the "prefect " woman, (like who of us are?). She has some physical flaws, the secondary characters are all quirky, but the hero is, as always perfect, at least in the eyes of the heroine. It's a great read, fun read, especially if you like to laugh out loud.

Summary: Katie continued to tromp through Vamps!
Review: Katie Macalister gave us a good waltz with "A Girl Guide to Vampires" a deliciously, funny romp through the world of the "Dark Ones", modern day vampires that can sense their "Beloveds" (any resemblance to Christine Feehan's Carpathians is pure homage!). This is the second in the series, and we met Christian in Girls Guide and drooled over him and, so we were delighted to hear Katie was penning his tale (along with dozens of other works - the lady is prolific!).

The good news, not only Christian is back and sexier than ever, the book, amazingly even more compelling that Girls Guide. I really enjoyed the first one, but this book hooks you from the start and keeps you flipping pages and ignoring Aragorn on telly! Katie gives us another of her totally ditzy characters in the "Queen of the First Person rants" with Allie. She is a woman that once was in an abusive relationship, but now is determined to be her own woman, and that includes her new profession as a Summoner - a person who summons ghosts. Problem is once she summons them she cannot sends them away. She is gathering material for the United Psychical Research Association, and she is out to prove to her boss, Anton Melrose, III, she is neither a crackpot nor a never-beens. So when she summons a ghost cat, she is thrilled. Just afters, she has an odd dream of seeing a man on a table in a dark basement. In the dream, there are cuts all over him, he is bleeding, and he says only she can heal him.

Dreams intrude on reality when the very next day she goes into a basement of a building she is investigating and finds just that - a man on the table bleeding. After exchanging a few words with him, she runs for the police. When they return, the room is empty and there is no trace of the handsome man. Odd-eyed Allie (think David Bowie blue eye-brown eye), goes to a bookstore the next day to get a copy of a vampire book autographed for a friend, and find out the author of the book is Christian Dante, and he is the man in the basement.

It's wildly kooky, sexy, Christian is to die for and Allie is a sweet endearing nut. It's typical camp that Katie does so well and it's another of her special books. A perfect antidote to exhaustion or the blues. Quick back and laugh your head off!

Summary: Caution You MUST have a sense of humor to read this book!!
Review: Katie Macalister's latest is filled with action,a legion of pop culture references and a ton of comic relief. If you like to slide into a romance and hit autopilot this is not a book for you. There are quite a few scene changes, multiple characters that spring in for a chapter or two, lots of side plots, and one liners that sneak up and pop in on you.
The characters are all incredibly down to earth, and realistic. They are wonderfully flawed and easy for the reader to relate to. Katie has a wonderful way of teaching the reader through the trials of the main character and her issues, to love themselves just as they are and see their true beauty.
All in all a good read, a FUN read.

Summary: Ohhh Christian - what a hero!!
Review: Katie's brilliant, witty writing continues to entertain us in her second paranormal romance, for which all of her fans have been anxiously awaiting. She does not disappoint. As usual, her heroine is quirky and not-so-perfect, making us all feel as if we too could have our very own hot and sexy vampire! The story is filled with several endearing, and sometimes annoying, ghosts summoned by Allegra. They are so laughable that they almost steal a few scenes. But it is our hero Dark One, the incomparable Christian for whom we have all been waiting, who is the true star for me. Romantic, gorgeous,as domineering as we who love Alpha Males want him to be, yet compassionate and flexible for his also domineering Beloved. Once again, Katie has delivered a delightful, sexy romp! Keep those Dark Ones coming!

Summary: Katie is the bomb
Review: Loved the book, it made me drool, it made me tingle, it made my bones melt. Katie's extrodinary gift to captaviate the mind and spell bind you is amazing, it is a must read, but my recomendation is a girls gudie to vampires before you read sex and the single vampire, as it is a series

Summary: A bit weak
Review: Okay, so you have this somewhat crippled woman, Allie, (by the way her name is Allegra--like the medicine! It drove be batty--what kind of author would name a character after an allergy medicine?) who meets this vampire. Now this girl is painted by the author as having all these issues about being in control. Apparently she had this real lame husband who beat her as well as other things I won't bother to mention for those of you who want to read the book.

Then you have this vampire, Christian, (Another name that drove me crazy because I kept forgetting this was his name and then she would use it in a sentence and I thought she was talking relegion--how weird is that?) Who is desperate to find the love of his life in order to complete him. (This entire plot practicaly stunk of a very popular series by another author who I will not name--which cause another problem with me because I cannot stand authors who steal plots.)

Okay, so the author goes on and on about how perfect Christian is physically, but is a real pig when it comes to women's rights. All she says about the heroine is that she has weird eyes and a messed up leg. She doesn't tell you anything else about how she looks, so you are left with a limping shadow woman when you picture the scenes in your mind. Yet, they are maddly drawn together. Next thing you know it they can't get enough of each other. This premise totally goes against what she set up in the beginning.

Ultimately, the author's characterization bites the big one. And I don't know about you, but if the characterization stinks--the book stinks.

I gave it two stars because the sex scenes were okay.
Hope this helps.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Review: Personally, I found the writing to be juvenile at best and just boring at the worst. I can't believe she has even one book published, let alone as many as she does. Extremely disappointing really Milquetoast Vamps. And poor writing to boot. The only reason it gets 1 star is because I have to.

Summary: Sexy, Witty, Fun!!
Review: Sex and The Single Vampire by Katie MacAlister is one of my all time favorite books, and I don't have all that many, it's not easy to get on my keeper shelf. It had all of the elements that I enjoy in a novel. I am not a huge fan of contemporaries, but since there was a paranormal element, I read it.

Christian Dante is a gorgeous, Dark One searching for his Beloved while on a book tour for his newest novel. Allegra ( Latin: meaning Joyful, merry) Telford is in England to find ghosts, her job as a summoner is in danger of extinction if she doesn't summon one soon. Her first night there she dreams of a magnificent man bleeding from cuts all over his body, and asking for her help. The next day after summoning the ghost of a three-legged cat, she sets out to explore a haunted house. Once there she discovers the man in her dreams, except that he's not a ghost, and he doesn't want her help, much less want her there.

She runs into him yet again at a book signing, where there is an altercation that ends with him on top of her, and giving her a soft kiss. From then on, good luck on ever wanting to put the book down. The scenes with Christian and Allegra are funny, endearing, and very sexy. The sexual tension is palpable. The heroine is not perfect, so if you like yours that way, I wouldn't recommend reading this. Allegra was a victim of domestic abuse, has a scarred leg, walks with a limp, and has two different colored eyes (which she usually hides behind dark glasses, since the sight of them freaks people out).

Christian, like most heroes, is tall dark and gorgeous. His eyes change to all different shades of brown, from walnut to mahogany depending on his mood. He is arrogant, yet gentle. He can communicate with Allegra telepathically, and the scenes where they converse this way are wonderful! I almost forgot to mention the multitude of other ghosts, demons, and returning characters from the prequel A Girl's Guide To Vampires. (I haven't read that one yet, but if your a stickler for going in order read that one first). It is told in the first person (again if you don't like this don't read it). I hope that if you decide to pick up Sex and The Single Vampire that you enjoy it as much as I did. Christian and Allegra have a special place in my heart, always.
