Summary: GREAT FUN!
Review: This was funny, with a cool heroine with an understandable fetish for shoes! I laughed out loud while reading it! This made me a fan and I cannot wait until the next book in this series is released by Berkley! I bought the e-book version from Ellora's Cave.

Summary: This is the funniest Vampire Romance I have read in a while
Review: Undead and Unwed. This books of Romantica by MaryJanice Davidson is a winner... Its funny the heroine has a fixation wiht designers The day she died is one calamity after another.

I have now read this e-book 3 times and still laugh every time I read it... Rauncy redhot love scenes not many of them but the ones that are in it are good.

Superb this book got me hooked on books published by Ellora's Cave.. its also nice to know one doesn't have to read the topshelf..

Summary: Great Book with more to come
Review: I just adored this book. This book is for anyone who loves shopping for shoes and vampires. According to Davidson's website there are more books to be published in this series starting with Undead and Unemployed. Can't wait

Summary: Terrible but Funny
Review: While baby-sitting, I picked this one up and began reading it. It was very Bram Stoker meets Danielle Steel meets Lifetime Movie Network. But it was a fun read. It had absolutely no substance to it though. If you're looking for a book that will do nothing more than kill time, and bring on a few laughs, Its an excellent choice.

Summary: Unapologetic fun!
Review: Mary Janice Davidson first hits gold with the release of Under Cover - a compilation of sassy contemporary romance that brought her under the wing of Brava. Her latest full length tale, Undead and Unwed, is an irreverent vampire parody that digs out the stereotypes from Buffy, Dracula 2000 and a stab at fellow paranormal writers. Her Manolo Blahniks strutting heroine Betsy Taylor is a hoot who defies holy water and sunlight, and a pert heroine who battles with a dysfunctional family. The tongue-in-cheek humour and brio came too furiously in the first half of the book that the end sags in comparison especially in the battle with Nostro, the 500 year old vampire villain. Nevertheless, the dialogue sizzles with dry wit and the plot is refreshing enough to show that Davidson is a writer who is uncompromising and undaunted. Even the dark hero Eric Sinclair has an ultra-voracious sex appetite in his bedroom romp. This blood-sucking spiel is macabre, witty and savagely funny.

Summary: Not as funny as other reviewers have stated
Review: After reading the reviews of "Undead and Unwed", I expected the book to be a funny mix of chick-lit and fantasy. While the book can accurately be called chick-supernatural, it failed in the humor department. Davidson, the author, tried too hard to be witty. The first three chapters have more exclamation points "!" than I have ever seen before in my life. (really!!)

The main character, Betsy, was unlikable. It's like Davidson took Carrie from Sex in the City, dumbed her down and took away everything that makes her interesting--then made her a vampire called "Betsy".

This book isn't worth the time or effort. Read Kelley Armstrong or Tanya Huff instead of this series. Save yourself!

Summary: Hilarious, Original, and Fabulous!
Review: Maryjanice Davidson is definitely an author to watch out for!! Ever since the first story of hers I read, I have been searching out everything else she has written! Her heroes are fabulous, her heroines deliciously strong and funny, and her stories irresistable. This book is so funny - laugh-out-loud - with refreshing humor and originality. I can't wait for the next installment!

This story introduces us to the sexy, yet naughty Sinclair, and the newly deceased and shoe-obsessed Betsy. Is she the new vampire Queen? Well they certainly have some trouble convincing her, and adjusting to this new existence while remaining true to herself is a challenge, but Betsy pulls it off winningly! The characters in this book are wonderful, and I hope to hear more about all of them in the next installment!!

Summary: Hilarious and well told!
Review: This is a good read on its own, but is absolutely hilarious if you've read a lot of vampire stories. I plays off several stereotypes. I enjoyed the 1st person point of view, as what Betsy is thinking is usually hilarious. The other characters are interesting and well done. The main plot is quite normal, an evil vampire who controls most of the city's vampires, wants Betsy to join him or else. Her reactions are extremely unusual; she starts out by laughing at him and leaving, refuses to join a small rebel group, and worries about her family and friends and shoes. She tries to live her undeath in a reasonably normal fashion (for a live person). But the evil one won't leave her alone and eventually instigates a series of events which, at least for a little while, change peaceful, self-absorbed Betsy into an avenger who just wants him out of her life; permanently. I won't give away what happens, except that it isn't the usual one-on-one, hero (or heroine) vs villain fight with the hero victorious. Betsy is an easy to like protaganist and I'm looking forward to future books.

I do enjoy dark vampire books, including the original Dracula by Stoker. I truly enjoyed the first several Anita Blake books by LKH and have read them all. The Blood series by Tanya Huff is pretty good. I'm not that fond of vampire romances, although there are a few that are ok. However, this book was none of the above and pretty much stands alone as its own subgenre.
