Summary: why didn't I hear about this book?
Review: I bought this book on a whim and it certainly paid off. It started out a little too smart-and-hip-speak for me but I got sucked into the book with her entertaining characters by the second page. I loved the romantic conflict, the banter, the main character (hands down one of the best) and her unusual side kicks were very amusing. The plot is the usual in this genre: good vs. bad vampires, but the route taken in this book is hugely entertaining and different. Although some sex scenes were interesting to say the least, she coulda spared us the "oh it soooo huge" bit. I can't wait to read the next installment ("Undead and Unemployed") due out soon. Overall, this witty book was a great read! I couldn't read it fast enough and was sorry when I finished.

Summary: Fun, fun, fun till the sun comes up!
Review: I absolutely adore this book! I couldn't put this book down! As a former fan of Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake vampire series, I was afraid this book would be too much on the light romance side and not enough in the gore and killing side for my taste. I was wrong! I can't wait for the next one!

Summary: oh my goodness!!!
Review: I love vampire books, but this one tops them all! The heroine is hilarious and you can completely relate to her. Very glad I purchased this book on an impulse.

Summary: Undead and Unwed. Rocks
Review: Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson brings us Betsy the new vampire queen.

Betsy Taylor is having a bad week. She loses her job, gets killed by a cab, but what really gets her goat is the god awful outfit and shoes her stepmother had her laid out in at the morgue.

After realizing she is the undead she meets some new friends who are convinced she is the new queen. These friends believe she was sent to overthrow an evil vampire. But to do this she must join forces with the sexiest, most virile vampire, Eric Sinclair.

This book is wickedly funny. Ms. Davidson writes the sassiest laugh out loud characters, which also ooze sex appeal. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Summary: What a FUN read
Review: I have never read Ms. Davidson prior to this book, but I will now be on the lookout for other books by her. Betsy is having a really BAD day. She's late to work, laid off, her cat has run away, she gets run over by a car, thrown into a tree and dies. Then she wakes up in a coffin, at the funeral home, wearing a horrible pink suit and hand me down non-designer shoes (a BIG negative) and discovers she's a vampire. Not just a garden-variety vampire, but the vampire QUEEN. The book is a fun, fast read. You will not be bored. :-)

Summary: Hilarious..........................
Review: I picked this book up by chance after reading several reviews, and I have to say this book was funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny. Betsy Tyler a typical normal living human was laid off from her job, and having to rescue her cat Giselle gets hit by a car and is killed instantly,or is she. She wakes up in a coffin at a funeral home not sure of what happens to and from there the book is real laugh-fest. She is now a vampire, butthe funny thing is things are backwards in her vampire life, if I go into anymore of it the review would be to long, all I can say is read the book. You will definately enjoy it. I highly recommend it.

Summary: An Absolute Gem
Review: Without much preamble I will say right off... this is probably the best vampire book I have read all year, and THAT is saying a lot. A clear fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, and Charlaine Harris to name but a few I was hesitant to pick this book up because of the rather large 'cheese' factor of the cover (which certainly solidified it in the romance category) I am so glad that I changed my mind. Janice Davidson has a rare gift, the ability to meld genre's seamlessly. Like a chef, Davidson has pinched ingredients from all over to create a masterpiece. This novel 'Undead and Unwed' is a gem. Unbelievably funny, just a tad violent and certainly romantic (with a yummy romantic interest) 'Undead and Unwed' had me falling off of my chair laughing. It is tear-jerkingly funny.

Elizabeth, 'Betsy', Taylor has just had the single most terrible week of her life. She is laid off from her secretarial job, killed in a freak accident, and comes to in the morgue, wearing the most hideous pink suit and cast off shoes from her 'step-monster'. If that is not hard enough to digest, she soon learns that she is the prophesized 'Queen of the Undead' the vampire to lead all vampires, the undead woman to de-throne a really nasty vampire leader who has been watching too many B- movies. She can't shake her 'thirst', her friends are all starting to look more like blood banks and she has developed a serious crush on an egotistical, overbearing, way-too-gorgeous vampire that seems to have his own agenda where Liz is concerned. All Betsy Taylor wants is to resume her old life, the life where she came home to her cat and 300 pairs of ridiculously expensive designer shoes. It that so much to ask? Of the undead, yes.

Janice Davidson's wit, style and sheer talent make Betsy Taylor unbelievably likeable. This 'valley girl' in Minn. is wildly funny, audacious, and pointedly unapologetic about her fluffy, ditzy ways, which makes her even more charming. Her sidekicks are appropriately ridiculous and her love interest is beyond yummy. Sinclair, is just that, SIN- and he's testing Betsy's resolve.

My only dissapointment with this book is that is ended too soon. Davidson has outdone herself, and has launched the beginning of what can only be a sure-fire hit series. Betsy Taylor's adventures will not dissapoint. I only hope that Davidson keeps them coming. I look forward to more Betsy and Sinclair, what a pair.

Summary: Wow!!
Review: I have to say that I almost didn't buy this book because of the cover (looked kinda cheesy) but I had to because it had to do with vampires. I cannot resist a romance book with vampires, undead, carpathians, and whatever other name you give them! If you like Christine Feehan, Lindsay Sands, Laurell Hamilton, and Katie McAlister you have to buy this book. It was an awesome book.......enough said. Buy it and see for yourself!

Summary: Ms Davidson does it again! Another creative and fun read!
Review: I first discovered MaryJanice Davison last year when I read and really enjoyed BY ANY ANOTHER NAME. I then was on the lookout for any and all stories by this talented author and read THIEF OF HEARTS and short story collection UNDER COVER all fun and sexy contemporary romances. She's incredibly creative and has also written shapeshifter romantica (CANIS ROYAL) and even young adult stuff (TEEN FURIES). UNDEAD AND UNWED (first released as an ebook in 6/02) is a fun and creative spin on the vampire sub-genre and is really almost parody.

What would happen if, say Cher from CLUELESS woke to find herself a vampire? Elizabeth "Betsy" Taylor is a fashion (especially shoe) obsessed former model who just got laid off from her thankless secretarial job and then is hit by a car and killed - all on her birthday! She wakes in a funeral home and it doesn't take much to figure out that she's not alive but not quite dead either. Being a zombie is NOT and option, but when her several attempts to finish herself off fail, and a weird thirst for blood (eeww!) asserts itself, she has to face it - she's a vampire!

Its just hysterical watching Betsy adjust to her new vampire lifestyle and powers. But there are some ways in which the usual vampire rules don't apply to Betsy. She can still enter churches, crosses and holy water don't bother her and sunlight is not fatal. What's up with that? Her unique abilities bring her before head vamp Nostro who's determined to bring her under his control. And when sexy "tall, dark and sinister" Eric Sinclair offers to become her vamp mentor are his motives good or evil? Betsy is not sure, nor is she interested in getting involved in "vamp politics", she just wants to be left alone. Sinclair is frustrated by her too human compassion, her self absorption and her immaturity, all of which just highlights her need for guidance from the right quarter - he's also very attracted to her. When she's told that she's the prophesied "vampire queen" it's way too much! She's only been a vampire for a week for heaven's sake! Things become more dangerous when Sinclair asks her to join forces with him against Nostro. She resists until he makes an offer she cannot refuse: her support for designer shoes! The vampire world is in for some changes, baby!

Ms Davidson will continue with these characters when UNDEAD AND UNEMPLOYED comes out 8/04. Betsy still needs to find job and also figure out her new place in the vampire world. Sinclair still has a ways to go in proving himself to Betsy. And then there's detective Nick Barry - did he really forget his vampiric experiences? A really fun read that is very highly recommended!! Also look for THE ROYAL TREATMENT an alternative reality erotic romance coming 5/04.
