Summary: Grounding A Series
Review: I have read many runaway book series. They often become stale and predictable. This is not one of them. LKH chose this book to develop progressive characters. That is not an easy thing to do, because some readers don't like change.
The stage is now set for multidimensional people for future Anita Blake mysteries. I waited impatiently for the release of this book. I thought to myself, "She is taking her time with this book, so it's gotta be a good one!" I was right! LKH took her time to write a very good book.. I didn't mind the fact that it was short because it's so fulfilling. The action is minimal. Anita doesn't do a lot of killing in this book. And frankly I didn't miss it. The mystery is still the best. The sex is even better because it involves serious emotional growth. No meaningless or romantic sex here. This book has many positive messages. You have to see past the sex in order to receive it.
An unwelcome visit from a two thousand year old vampire uncovers painful memories For Jean-Claude and Asher. The result forces Anita and her changeling charges, to deal with serious emotional baggage of their own, while trying to placate the vengeful Belle. Politics prevents Anita from just shooting Belle. Richard and his werewolves are no help. So, they try to hold off Belle's murderous intentions with subtle psychoanalysis. It's kinda funny.
This book made me grateful for my mother and my best friends. We all live very different lives but we are there for each other. Anita is young and essentially alone with no girlfriend like or grandmotherish person around for mature guidance. She doesn't have a confidant outside of her on-the-job personal life. There is no 1-800 hotline to call for moral support, when you have to save a friends life by adding him to your list of bed partners. This is my favorite book of the series. I can now wait patiently for the next one, because I know it will be a solid addition to this one.

Summary: Not the best, but not terrible.
Review: I think the reason people don't like this book as much as some of the others is because it seems to be a stepping-stone book -- something even bigger is going to happen in the next novel, something involving the Council. That's why this one seems to drop off so quickly. THAT SAID... The pacing was good. The sex was good, if a little weird in places. Some lines were overused ("tan version of the Mummy's hand"). The Big Bad Non-Vampire Enemy was too glossed-over and that angle ended too quickly. On the other hand, the development of many of the minor characters was appreciated, and if you like Jason, you'll ADORE many parts of this book. There were some scenes with Asher that were well-written. The ending reminds me a bit of the denoument of Harry Potter 4 (Goblet of Fire). But no one complained about that. Read it if you like Anita. But if you've never read Laurell K. Hamilton before, start with _Lunatic Cafe_.

Summary: Not up to standard
Review: Unlike all the previous books of the series, this one was not unputdownable. In fact I found myself putting it down after every couple of pages. And then picking it up again a few minutes later. I still do not quite understand it but I have a sense of unfulfillment. There's a just great big *something* missing. Anita does spend more time in bed - but we saw that coming in "Narcissus in Chains". She faced, and faced down, more bad guys and even had a very well written and serendipitous escape from the spooks. Ms Hamilton set the stage for future encounters with bigger and badder bad guys, which is a constant challenge for a writer. But still, I was disappointed and vaguely unsatisfied. All in all, it's still worth buying and reading - but not anything to be proud of. I suspect Anita is not the only one needing a long vacation

Review: i liked the story, but it didn't make me go wild. i don't know what it was missing. when i figure it out, i'll edit my review. i just hope that we don't have to wait more than a year and a half for the next anita book. i want the next one already. with more jean-claude goodness.

Summary: Best One Yet
Review: I believe this was the best Anita Blake novel yet. I don't particularly like the way Richard is going but over all I enjoyed the story line. I know Ms.Hamilton is a n excellent writer and knows what direction she wished her characters to go. I read a few of these reviews and could not disagree more with the one that stated there was too much sex. I my self could have appreciated a few more scenes. I love the was she writes its been a long time since I have enjoyed reading this much about this subject. I especially enjoy the first person narative which I would have never picked up before, if a book was written in the first person it automatically went back on the shelf. Thank you so much for this book and I am looking forward to another fairy book soon.

Summary: Well....finally.
Review: In this book Anita's powers are not as obvious. The emphasis is more on the arduer(spelling?) All that really happens is finally two of the more interesting characters(I won't say who!) finally get some action. I don't have a problem with all the sex scenes, there were only like 2 or 3 but I do have a problem with her moral hand wringing afterwards.
She did what she did and can't undo it, so let's move on. Her psuedoboss, Dolph's, attitude was one of the scariest moments of the book because it was so realistic. At a certain point though, if I had Anita's powers, I would have cleaned his clock big time.
Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who doesn't blood, guts, and gore and sex so, if you don't...then don't. But if you do then pick this book up for a really good read.

Summary: I expected more from LKH...
Review: If you are not a fan of the series/new to the series, this is not the book for you. If you are a long time fan of the series, this book will be a great disappointment. After the redeeming Narcissus in Chains, I thought the series was back on track. However, Cerulean Sins is just Hamilton's foray into the world of Harlequin Romance novels. The crime subplot, usually expertly weaved into the story, seems vague and tacked on. The "Sweet Mother" concept seemed a little far-fetched and unnecessary (as far-fetched as possible in a world populated with preternaturals). Richard's involvement seemed like simply a "Remember this guy? He's still a lame-wad who needs counseling." This book is most assuredly one of the low points in an ordinarily fine series. Stick with books 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8-10 for Anita at her finest.

Review: I am such a fan of this writer and I love this series! If you are into books that keep you on the edge of your seat for hours on end...then "Cerulean Sins," by gifted storyteller Laurell K. Hamilton is definately the book for you! Fun, exciting, and hot! "A Must Read" to be sure...

Summary: I loved those Yahoos
Review: I can always count on Anita Blake showing me a good time. I love her humor. Ms. Hamilton continues to break all the rules, but gives hopes to all the rest of us wannabes. She just about talked us to death in this one with mundane explanations. Talk, talk, talk. Actions speak louder than words. I bought it, I admit, because I can always count on having a good time. Typical startout -- work, the client, the hire that you know will lead to a plot, maybe. So, why have those final chapters with the police?? And the rush to end this one? So forget the plot, forget the carnage. Forget hanging on to see how Anita escapes from the big bad monsters. Instead, see how many typos you can find. Let's just have more sex. Just so wait for this one to come out in paperback, or check it out from the library. In the meantime, read Quilty Pleasures. There is hope for all us wannabes!! Just keep it within the publisher's word and page count -- good or bad doesn't seem to matter as long as it sells.

Summary: Stronger and Stronger
Review: Hamilton's latest novel has everything her past novels posses...and more. Her eleventh installment of the Anita Blake series progresses the series' into something much bigger than St. Louis' city boundaries. Though we have witnessed the Vampire Council before and their macabre politics, this is the first time we have seen firsthand Jean-Claude and Asher's, our favorite vampires, "sourdre de sang", the fountainhead of their bloodline, Belle Morte, but most importantly we are also introduced to the Mother of Darkness (Mommy Dearest). There is also the detective/police case Anita is invovled with, but this time Anita is a Federal Marshall, though it felt like it wasn't as prominent, but what was prominent was Dolph's out-of-character scenes. I was definitely surprised. But it just shows you how much the characters are growing and becoming more "real" for the readers, more intimate. Also, unlike NIC, where it was understandable that the "ardeur" was the main plot, but where there was A LOT of vividly sexual scenes, where there could be a page or more of gratuitous sex in CS, there are passionate scenes that prove to strengthen the book and the characters' personalities. Last thought: One of the best Blake novels I've read.
