Rating: Summary: The best book I've ever read!!!!!!!! Review: THE STAND was the first Steven King novel I ever read. After that I vowed to never miss another story he penned. His characters are so real that I wept as my favorites died one by one. His use of biblical quotes and rock lyrics to emphasize the fight between good and evil in a final confrontation is ingenious. I have recommended this book to everyone I know who enjoys reading. I did feel that he could have cut the end (everything after the climax in Las Vegas) to less than 5 chapters. That is the only time during the entire novel that I did not mind putting the book down. I also enjoy the GUNSLINGER series because they are similar in many ways to THE STAND. I have waited patiently for a long time for WIZARDS AND GLASS and am elated to hear that my wait is almost over.
Rating: Summary: Stephen KIng can only go downhill from here. Review: This apocalyptic epic about the dark and light sides of Christianity is unbelievable; difficult to grasp as a novel written by Mr. King more than a decade ago. It is still realistic and comprehensible to this day. I read this book during Christmas vacation over a course of 8 days. I have not read the first edition, with several hundred pages cut from the manuscript, but I can not imagine The Stand without characters like the Trashcan Man or The Kid. My favorite character was probably R.F. I also liked Stu and Tom Cullen, and look forward to seeing the movie
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece of apocalyptic terror!! Review: This has to be one of the best books ever written by Stephen King. It is truly a terrifying view of mankind's final chapter. Stephen King has truly defined the biblical dichotomy of good vs evil in the modern era. The television version was also gripping, edge of your seat stuff. I highly recommend not only The Stand but also King's short stories Nightmares and Dreamscapes. A must read for all horror fanatics everywhere
Rating: Summary: King's masterpiece gets even better... possible? Review: Stephen King is well known for writing long, long, long books. Books that, despite their length, keep you up late at nights, awaiting the end with both interest (because he sucks you in) and sorrow (because you don't want these great stories to end).
Occasionally, the reader can tell when King's editor didn't have the heart (or the stones) to do some serious slashing. "IT" is a good example; decent book that would have been much, much better if it had lost, oh, 30% of the material within.
This version of "The Stand", however, is without a doubt King's grand masterpiece. It has only gotten better with the addition of several hundred pages of material that was cut from the first print version of the book.
"The Stand" is probably what the "Dark Tower" series could have been; King's defining work that will be studied and joyfully read for generations and generations to come. Well, eagerly read, anyway- it's a bit hard to read about the end of the world with joy
Rating: Summary: Stephen King fans: Action from Page 1 to the End. Long, but Review: King's finest. TV version in no way did The Stand justice. Many interesting characters, but you get to know them like relatives or neighbors. You want to write King and ask how so or so is doing. They are real! I am a Stephen King fan; but The Stand spoils all his other great works.

Rating: Summary: This may very well be Stephen Kings best book. Review: Imagine a virus relased upon the people of Earth in a freak "accident" that wipes out all but a few survivors who are used in as pawns in the never ending strugle between evil, "the Devils Imp" Flag, and good,God himself. Stephen King out did himself in writing this excelent book that will captivate everyone who loves books, and most that don't. This in my own opinon is a book that can not be matched by anything this century, and more than a years before it. All and all this book captures every emotion know to man from lust to love, humor to horor, and back
Rating: Summary: King's best work. A true American classic. Review: The Stand is not only the best book by Stephen King, it may very
well be one of the greatest novels ever written. This book
is a must-read for anyone interested in truly magnificant fiction.
King's apocalyptic vision of a disease wiping nearly all of the people off the planet is as good as it gets. King explores
the themes of: the ravages of modern technology, love, hate, good vs. evil, religion,
racism, mental illness, nuclear war, and others in his modern masterpiece. This is the book that will live on long after King has finished
his glorious reign as the master of Modern American Fiction.

Rating: Summary: Stephen King's "The Stand" Review: A bit legnthy, but the plot is one that we've all thought about at pne time or another. King brings the problems of the world into focus when a virus escapes a containment area in California, and makes it's way across the world. The population is now 1% of what it was, and the survivors are trying to live, love, and try to understand why they were the ones picked to live
Rating: Summary: Frightening and believable! Review: Stephen King shows his mastery of horror in this book. When
reading The Stand, you are drawn into the book, almost as if
you are experiencing the events yourself. This story is completely believable and that is what makes it so scary! King is pro at writing stories where the situations are so
true to life that you just _know_ that somewhere, sometime,
this is going to happen!
Rating: Summary: It is about the truth. Review: I have read this book over 7 times. Each time after the first in one sitting.
If you cherish life, read this book
