Review: I haven't finished The Stand yet, but I saw the whole miniseries this week, and I sat through the last half hour or so with a box of kleenex by my side. I have about 200 pages to go, so I think I may finish the book today-I guess I'd better buy another box of kleenex since I ran out last night and will more than likely need it to get through the last few chapters!

Summary: One of the most engrossing books I've ever read.
Review: I first read this book more than 10 years ago, but every so often I find myself rereading the entire thing as if I've just opened it. It grabs your interest and imagination immediately, and never lets go. It's one of those stories that stays with you long after you have finished reading it. Excellent book!!

Summary: One of the best books in horror and the supernatural
Review: Stephen King was able to take the reader into a world of frightening "reality". He addresses world destruction, the macabre and religion in a way that digs deep in the heart of our destiny. King can extract the fear within us that most are afraid to think about. In a way, he say's "Don't mess with mother nature." Or suffer the consequences - the Stephen King way.

Review: In my opinion, this is the best of Stephen King's work. The story is riveting and yet it's scary to think that something so terrible could possibly happen in our society.

Summary: GREAT!!
Review: It has been almost ten years since I read this book, but it still haunts me with its images. Specifically, the trek through the New York Tunnels was too eerie. The descriptions of the Characters and the overwhelming ramifications of the plot simply blew me away. The ending played out much better in the Book than on the television MiniSeries, but i was not the greatest fan of the ending. I enjoyed the concept of the wrath of God , but not the way it was played out in the ending of the Stand. Stephen King is an amazing story teller and I have throughly enjoyed and been horrified by the tales he has told.

Summary: THE best apocalyptic novel of the 20th century, hands down.
Review: For those of you familiar with King's normally gruesome prose, this book is a special treat. It is the epic saga (at over 600 pages, I use those terms literally) of the end of humanity, and the final battle between good (led by a 108-year old woman) and evil (led by a demon simply known as the "walkin' dude". ) A classic in horror-- the tv series doesn't do it justice. For those who have never read King's work (all three of you) this novel is a great place to start. One question lingers, though-- why does the walkin' dude name always have to be "R.F."?

Review: This book displays Mr.King's full potential. The best book for anyone regardless of one's Interests. It Simply has it all!!!!!!!. I read the book in only two weeks while I was on Vacation. I forgot I was on vacation it was so good!!!!!!!!

Summary: King excells telling stories
Review: When you don't know much about Stephen King and hear his name, the first thought that crosses your mind is: terrifying fantasy. In fact, he has some works that have a tendency to this side, like Christine and IT, which in fact are very good. But to me he's remembered as a great na unbelievable storyteller, of all kinds. "The stand" is one of those stories, with the difference that what happens in the book could turn out reality. The plague that infests the world is like a judgement day. Few people are immune to the disease. Only that they can be good people or Bad people. Although it's over a thousand pages of book, it's not tiring, like Clancy's "Executive Orders". The story flows with the narrative, and you keep wanting to know what's going to take place next. The first part tells what happens to the world when the plague hits, the loneliness and sense of loss of the people spared, the impossibility of using all the modern advantages discovered by humanity simply because there's no one to run a power plant. In this part there's a lot os subplots that in the end get together. The only problem is that King divides the characters in Good or Evil, nothing in between, and, let's agree on that, the world never was, is, or is going to be like this, plague or no plague. The good people get around an old black country woman named Mother Abagail, and the bad people get around The Walking Dude, The Dark Man, The Thin Man, The Very and Last Randall Flagg, whom also played an important part in "Eyes of the dragon" and "The dark tower". The thing is that Flagg is much more fun than Mother Abagail. I think that King sensed that while writing the story, and made everyone around Flagg so boring and funless while M. Abagail's folks were happy and full of life, so you don't blame yourself for cheering up for the good guys. But the book itself is a masterpiece, that should be read for everybody looking for a good and enjoyable work. I think that King's! mind should be studied. It must be the most crazy and funny place in the world. Maybe he could give us a hint of what happens with Stu and the others after the end of the book. And I have another question for the author: what you got with Boulder, Colorado?

Summary: The Best Book I've Ever Read!!! Definately A Classic!!!
Review: Stephen King is and was may favorite author before I read The Stand. But before I never expected to love the book so much. His other 1000 page book, IT, was his only book I was never able to get into. So for The Stand I expected a long, slow story filled with meaningless discriptions just to fill a few hundred pages untill finally on the second to last page. I WAS WRONG!!! This is by far the best thing I've ever read. Before I read this I just saw King as popular author but never someone who wrote classics but I've since changed my opinion since finishing The Stand last week. The characters are wonderful because they aren't super heroes but have real faults, problems, and disablilities and King brings them to life and surprises you with them and makes you think about them. Especially Nick, Tom, Nadine, Larry, Flagg, and in my opinion, particularly Harold. As for those of you who didn't like this book because they expected a "bigger" ending, you must have just learned how to read. Although it may not be what you expected, I find it quite fitting since it was inspired from the bible (Book of Revelations) and in a way it was Flagg who caused his defeat. And if all books were judged by having "big" endings, would great epics such as The Lord of The Rings be classics? But enough with that. I think that everyone should at least try to read this book sometime. It is the best I've ever read!

Summary: The best book I've ever read! (And I'm not even finished!)
Review: I haven't even gotten halfway through The Stand, and I have already decided-I have never read a better book! The story just draws you in, and you can't put it down! All of the characters are wonderful, and I find myself beginning to care about all of them, even the ones I should despise! The book is very descriptive-I can see the plague circulating our country very vividly in my mind. The aftermath is chilling-an empty world. I started reading it on vacation, and found our van driving on a deserted road one day. I suddenly felt like I was there, living the story. I was one of the survivors, searching and searching for another human being. It was spooky! I really do feel like I am part of the story, as I read page after page. I have begun to make myself another character in the book! This is the best Stephen King book I have read so far. And even though there are none of the usual scary horror stuff, this is the most frightening book I have ever read!!!!!
