Review: Stephen Kings master the art of detail. In "THE STAND", King develops his charaters with so much detail you feel, as if, you were on the raod to Boulder, Colorado. He makes you understand how evil can be so attractive to some in this world. R.F. just tell you what you want to here. The journey through the desert, throught the tunnel, back into the CDC, on thier way to Nebraska, then to Colorado or Ciabola, Kings vision is relentless he makes you see what is written on the pages. Some day this epic saga will be consider one of the best written works of all time. For me that day is now. If I never have the opportunity to read another book, I will alway have the memory and vision of this book. Try and think what would come after THE STAND. How would the world start over. Would they alway have electricity? For those of you who say I don't like horror book...THE STAND is not about horror. It about living and doing what ever it take to survive! . Good Reading and the next time you sniffle or start to have a cold,...you will think about this book.

Summary: Terrific! Makes you think twice about every sneeze!
Review: WOW!!!! I can't say enough good things about this book. It is simply extraordinary. If you're contemplating buying this book, but are scared away by the 1100+ pages, don't be. I read it in a little over a week. It's so good that you find yourself only wanting to read it, and not do anything else. I thought that just the premise of rebuilding after a super-plague wipes out 99.4% of the population was interesting enough. Then the whole good vs. evil bit just expands the story. This is one of the few novels I've read where I found myself wondering just what I'd do if I were faced with the same situation. This is the best book you'll ever read. BUY IT NOW!!!!

Summary: A great read, albeit with one slight problem
Review: The Stand is one of Stephen King's best works, and actually deserves more than 4 stars, but not quite 5. The only major problem I have with the book is how Stephen King seems to lose interest in the characters he has created at times. The book is at its best when there are fewer characters, because King can focus on each character in full rather than lose track of them. The death of one much-loved character (the most unique and best-developed one in the book, in my opinion) seems like a cheap way out, King's way of saying "I'm tired of figuring out ways to write him into the story. Ho-hum." The ending is also a bit of a copout, but still works pretty well. Just as in all of King's other works, he loses steam by the end. The first 850 pages are practically flawless, but his fatigue shows through in the final act. All in all, a remarkable tale that holds up quite nicely, even when it starts to stumble.M-O-O-N, that spells worth your money.

Review: I have read the entire book at least 5 times, and each time I discover different things which I didn't notice before. I am not a huge Stephen King fan and have been disappointed by some of his other works, but this one delivers. It's simply a terrific book.

Summary: The most Horrific story I have ever read!
Review: I have just completed The Stand. WOW! I have never read anything like it! Not only did this book change the way I view novels, but it changed the way I view my life and the world around me. Sure, there have been other tales of the end of the world. Independence Day and Armageddon to mention a couple of the doomsday movies to come out recently. But somehow, the idea of life as we know it ending from something that we ourselves encounter frequently and therefore seems so insignifigant-getting sick with what appears to be the common cold or the flu (except in this story the common cold isn't so common-it has a deadly twist to it, making it the Superflu) is a lot scarier than the thought of aliens attacking earth or an asteroid heading straight for us. I don't think I'll ever look at a sick person in the same way again! Reading this novel was an unforgettable experience, and I cannot wait to go through it again!

Summary: Waste of time and paper
Review: Everyone fell for this book. Put Stephen Kings name on 1200 pages of garbage and you have yourself an instant classic. How can Stephen King write so much and say so little? I mean, the book had a seemingly great plot: 99% of the population of the world is massacred by a disease. All the survivors see visions that determine whether they are "good" or "evil". The book is named for the ultimate battle between good and evil (or should I say good americans and bad americans. it seems mexico, canada, an all of the other hundred and some-odd countries are ignored by Mr. King.) I have to admit, king had a great idea for a great epic. his only problem is that he doesn't know how to write a good book. all his characters are the same. they talk in the same way. he goes off on tangents telling how his characters were abused when they were young. So much bark in this book and no bite. So much leading up to something, but after a thousand pages, the! re was still no "something" He decided to build up a huge story and put in a stupid ending. he took the easy way out. shame on you Mr. King for wasting my time

Summary: MAGNIFICENT, CAPTIVATING AND FOREVER MEMORABLE!
Review: Shortly after "discovering" CARRIE and SALEM'S LOT, THE SHINING was released and I read it. It was then that I began collecting Stephen's King's novels, buying each as soon as it was released. I await the release of King's books and movies (big screen and tv) with great anticipation, knowing each will capture my attention and give me a mental jolt. THE STAND is definitely my favorite. It is, actually, my favorite of any books I've ever read. As with all King books, the details grab you and keep you involved, and the characters are all so well-defined and varied in nature that you cannot help but be interested. I read the first version upon its release and for weeks afterward my nightly dreams would reflect the concept of life with so few people left. One dream that stuck with me involved my concern for how to make film for when all the current film was used or expired (I was studying photography then). The concerns about locating someone with the nece! ssary skills/knowledge and the anxious search for books in a massive library in a city I'd never seen before were as real to me when I awoke as the hard cover of my first King novel. I've never forgotten the emotional sensations of that dream, emotions THE STAND made come alive. When the uncut version came out, I nabbed it; it didn't matter that I already owned the first release of THE STAND. The TV version of THE STAND (fortunately done with King's involvement so it was truer to the book) was also as intriguing to me the second time as the first. The characters are so much a part of me now, my mind is always writing ever-changing sequels that keep them alive and fresh, but a return to the original story is still delightful no matter how many times I read or see it. If you've ever liked any of King's work, this must not get by you!

Review: The second best King book under It(in my opinion). The book was ICREDIBLE. The characters were so wonderfully written, you felt like you knew them from childhood. Flagg was such an exellent enforcer of evil. He(or shall I say It......who's to say what sex a demon is) terrifyed me for nights. Barker(although great) can't beat King. "Swan Song"(Robert McCammon), good book, but doesn't stand a chance against THE STAND. No one can beat him, not Koontz, not Saul, not Rice, not Barker, not Struab, not McCammon, NOBODY!!!!!!! NO ONE HAS DE-THRONED KING!! He is THE MASTER OF THE MACABRE. His book, "The Stand," is a book of the untimate battle between good and evil.

Review: This book is the definitive Stephen King book. The characters are so well written that you could swear they were real. Randall Flagg is the scariest bad guy I have ever seen. This book should be read by anyone who has read any of Kings books. It should also be read by anyone who hasn't read any King.

Review: I have less than 100 pages to read, and I'm pretty sure I'll be finishing it tonight. That makes me so sad! I don't want The Stand to end! I am going to have a tough time reading other books for a long time because nothing can compare to this!
