Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN Review: THIS BOOK WAS REALLY SCARY AND REALAISTIC. I WAS REALLY FREAKED OUT. THE BOOK MADE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WERE THERE DURING EVERYTHING AND ALL THE EVENTS AND PEOPLE WERE THERE WITH YOU. THE DETAILS WERE REALLY GRAPHIC AND REAL.
Rating: Summary: Tremendous! (Anyone who says otherwise is simple-minded) Review: This is one of Stephen King's best books. Although many of the other reviews say that it is "not quite up to standards" or "way over rated" it is only because they are simple-minded people who are looking solely for blood, gore, and things that give them nightmares and make them wet the bed. This book is only for people who are willing to think about what they are reading and understand its depth. If you find it difficult to think on higher levels of consciousness I do not recommend this book. However, if you love fantasy and fiction that is not simply plot, this book is tremendous.
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Time Review: This has to be one of the most overrated books of all time. There was absolutely no suspense, it was filled with mostly forgettable characters, and it was way too long. I found myself rooting for no one and wishing the book would just end. And end it did, with a big thud. I could not bring myself to despise Flagg, since so little of the story focused on him and and his amazing power. Instead, we have four dull characters headed for Vegas in search of evil. Ultimately, it fails as both a plot driven book and a character study. Laws yes, what a long, dull, pointless pile of trash.
Rating: Summary: Destined to become a classic --the next Moby Dick! Review: Does my summary sound like an exaggeration? It's not! This book has enough substance and depth to rival Moby Dick...Three brief cautions before you pick up this book: 1)Buy the UNCUT version. Too much important character development is deleted from the more concise version! 2)This book doesn't follow Stephen King's reputation as a horror writer. DON'T get it if you're looking for "that kind" of book, but DO pick it up EVEN IF his reputation and the horror books aren't your style! 3)Don't expect to buzz through this book --it's a long one, but well worth savoring again and again. I've LITERALLY worn through my copy!
Rating: Summary: My favorite book! Review: I'm not a very big King fan, in my opinion, I don't think that his other books could ever live up to The Stand. I had thought that a book over 1000 pages would get boring after awhile, but this one didn't! :) I greatly enjoyed this book and it's worth a read.
Rating: Summary: His Best,The Best Review: I just started reading King this summer. The first book I read was "The Stand"It was a masterpiece. No one can develop characters like King. You feel like you know the people. You love the good guys and you despise the bad guys. My favorite of all time.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest books of all time. Review: This book is intricately written and packed full of symbolism. The beginning may read slow if you are expecting a typical King thriller. This book is frightening in a less "in your face" kind of way. It scratches away at the deep down hopes and fears that hide in your soul. This is more than a story about good people vs. evil people. It is about the good and evil in each one of us. King takes us on a journey of importance, showing us strenth of character, determination, human will, and the will of God. I recommend this book to anyone, because even if you don't like it, you won't be able to stop talking about it.
Rating: Summary: A Life-Changing Book Review: How to describe Stephen King's "The Stand"... As per my title for this review, I can only say that this book has put a whole new spin on the way I look at things. For us, who live in a modern, overpopulated society, it is difficult to imagine the end of the world. "This is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper." -T.S. Eliot Thus begins the epic miniseries by the same name. The world is emptied of its people but not of its technology, and the remaining few must find themselves and where their hearts lie on the border between good and evil. An epic story of the true nature of humanity, without all the red tape of modern society, a world governed only by the laws of nature, we see what happens to the remains of the human race when they are asked to survive in a life without direction. To anyone who is thinking about buying this book, heed my words: this book is not for everyone, like any book is, but rather this book chooses you, and I recommend you listen to what it has to say.
Rating: Summary: NOT QUITE UP TO STANDARDS Review: I am a big fan of King's, but this story got me going halfway before my interest tapered off. I barely finished the book with my own free will. Reason? This is one of the longer books in history, where the action doesn't flow in subtle pulse, as in "IT" (by the same author), nor as fast as an action thriller. This is more of a philosophical book at points, which although is not bad in itself, makes it kind of dull. However, it does have a few redeeming points.
Rating: Summary: Greatest book of all time!!! Review: The Stand is one of those books that, when you read it you feel that you are actually there experiencing the pain and joy with the characters. This book speaks to the soul and makes it cry out for the agony the characters go through. If you love books that are realistic anough to make you feel like you're there, READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!
